JJC MR Series Remote Switch (similar to Nikon MC-30)

JJC MR Series Remote Switch is a Chinese analogue of the native camera remote control - Nikon MC-30.

JJC MR Series Remote Switch (similar to Nikon MC-30)

Such a remote control is suitable for cameras with a special 10 pin connectorinto which the plug of the remote control is inserted (as shown in the photo in the gallery). Typically, only Nikon, Finepix S3 Pro, Finepix S5 Pro and Kodac DCS-14N cameras have this connector. The remote does not require batteries. Unlike the native Nikon MC-30, JJC It does not have a metal lock for the plug, but it has a connector for synchronization. To use the additional connector, you need a special JJC synchronization cable. Cables come in many types and are suitable for synchronizing studio flashes or for synchronizing with other cameras. In fact, this connector is almost useless. The cable length is 1 meter.

The remote has only one button and a special lock. When you half-press the button, focus occurs, and when you press it fully, shooting. Everything happens in exactly the same way as with the usual shutter button on the camera itself. The remote control button can be locked in a permanently pressed position, which is useful when shooting in BULB mode (excerpt by hand) or continuous continuous shooting. If you configure the camera correctly, then you can control the remote control and video recording.

My remote worn out after 2 days of use, most likely the cable was broken somewhere :(. There are a lot of cheap analogues Nikon MC-30, it will not be difficult to find a better option, for example, Nikon MC-30 Hongdak Remote Switch.

Thank you for attention. Arkady Shapoval.

It is strange that professional cameras do not have an infrared port or radio remote control, but they have antediluvian cable. On the internet, I saw analogues of the MB-D10 battery grip from third-party manufacturers with an attached remote control - this option is already more interesting. Has anyone encountered a similar stray? if such a thing really allows you to get a battery pen and a radio remote control for 3 thousand rubles, then this is a cake

    • Alexander.

The question of the year of issue I think ...
      On my D7100 - IR
Kum D700 has a very similar system.
I think they have already installed IR on the D800, although as an option to prevent parasitic flares they could leave the cord ...

      • Arkady Shapoval

On D300s, D300, D700, D800, D800E, D3, D3x, D3s, D4, D4s (and on d1, d2, etc.), this is the port used for the remote control. If you need remote control - there is ML-3 (not to be confused with ML-L3).

      • Dmitry K

Since 7100 is not a professional camera, there is no such port, and therefore there is IR. And about the ML-3, it hurts famously 260 bucks for an IR remote with a couple of buttons. my version with a battery grip and an integrated receiver for the standard ML-L3 is better

Ahem ... Why buy the original when there are soooo many Chinese counterparts for a penny. I bought myself on EBay for about 40 rubles. Came - works like a clock for the 3rd month. There is not much to break there. But, knowing the "Chinese quality", you can order 2-3 pieces. For the money it will still be much cheaper.

An alternative for cameras with an infrared port.
For owners of smartphones with an IR transmitter, there is a free universal program that acts as a remote control for most camera brands.
In addition to the usual shutter release by “pressing the button,” there is a repeater function, ie. set number of shots with set time interval.
The Google Market goes under the name Camera Remote (ad free).
            She often helped out ...

  • Yarkiya

Does the remote control with cable give any advantages over the IR remote control?
And a request to Arkady, if there is time, to update the lens review list. And then, for example, there is a Nikon 40 mm review, but it is not in the list of lenses. Disorder ;-)).

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Fixed List.
It gives, for example, such a remote control does not need batteries, there is a button lock for long exposures. And more expensive models can work in a mode similar to an infrared trap for releasing the shutter.

Thanks, got it. He scratched his brain, and brought out another advantage, the remote control ML-L3 can not be done half-press.

        • Eugene

I can not immediately imagine why it is needed. I pressed the button, it went through focus and immediately took a picture.

          • BB

For a self-portrait - half-pressing is not necessary, and for shooting with a tripod - it will not hurt

  • Oleg

It is a pity that the Chinese do not make analogs of the Nikon cameras themselves. I continue to test their entry-level DSLRs, 3xxx and 5xxx quality is unimportant - interface brakes, slow AF, inconvenience of switching, etc.

    • Yarkiya

Do you want cheap analogs of 3xxx and 5xxx to make it even worse? -) But in fact you are wrong, I don’t know 3xxx, I didn’t touch it, but starting from 5100 and higher all cameras are very decent. Of course, I think everyone would like d4 at a price of 3100, but ...
By the way, about the younger Kenon models, maybe they shoot cool and smart - I don’t know easy to operate, unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to shoot, but walking around the shops I often twisted them in my hands and I didn’t like them, cheap materials, loose caps. Honestly, soap dishes are more expensive and look more solid.
So finish testing the initial models and move on to a serious technique.

      • Oleg

but starting from 5100 and above all cameras are very decent >> 5100 I tested. it slows down when switching interfaces. and autofocus with a whale is not too smart. in this sense, Canon is better, for example, I tested 100D - there is a new STM kit, autofocus with it is the fastest of all that I tested among Nikons 3xxx-5xxx

        • Sashko

Do not confuse the "shhos" with your finger, the autofocus speed on amateur cameras is straightforward from the cameras themselves, and not from the cameras, so as the stench can be seen only when the autofocus is activated by the motor. Buy a kit and a smart smart device and you will be happy.

          • Oleg

I don’t confuse, I don’t confuse)) I guess that Nikon deliberately does not put fast motors in his primary-class lenses - so what? But canon does.

            • Eugene

What 5100, what 5200 is easy to find without a lens in the kit;)

              • Oleg

The point is the price. the canon 100d and 5200 are the same, but the canon itself is faster and the whale is faster. Separately, it’s one and a half times more expensive to buy

            • Sergei

Oleg, comparing cameras released with an interval of 3-4 years and lenses of 8-10 years is certainly sporting, maybe a pensioner - a junior fight, for the sake of comparison, who is better) and yes Nikon is just developing new entry-class cameras, we are waiting for d2300.

              • Oleg

Nikon is still developing new entry-class cameras, we are waiting for d2300 >> did you mean d3200?))) So 3300 are already on sale

              • Sergei

Yes, Oleg, it’s already clear that you don’t know how to use the search, we don’t watch those camera data and when they were released, the main thing is the price !!! By the way, yes, I meant exactly d2300 we look in the search, it is she who is the closest analogue of the 100d Kenon

              • Oleg

Sergey, are you a dreamer? There is no d2300 yet. And what we have is worse than canon.

            • Bkrg

It's not about the motor, but the aperture

  • Mikola

Do not smack nonsense, my dear. For entry-level cameras, both the d3100 and d5100 are very, very worthy. Having both Canon and Nikon in my arsenal, I would not give preference to this or that camera. Each has its own pros and cons. If you want everything to be tip-top, then you need to look at the ProfCamera line already. There and AutoFocus and all that’s all you need to work as it should. And the cameras are entry-level, then they are the entry level.

    • MOrpheus77

Some entry-level mirrorless cameras are faster than both.

      • BB

But they stand as prof. DSLRs

  • stegosaurus

I have a similar cable for d3100, a great thing. And personally, an external connector on the remote would be useful to me, because. I recently remade it for control from an Android phone, and if there was an external connector, I would not have to climb into the cable itself. Now I have an interval timer with arbitrary settings, and what is important, practically for nothing. Who cares, look for dslr remote or irmote, the sites have links to a description of how and what to do, IR camera control from a smartphone is also supported.

  • Eugene

The cheapest Chinese radio synchronizers have the function of remote control of the camera by radio signal, it works from other rooms, even through reinforced concrete walls.
