Review of Auto Revuenon MC Zoom 1: 4.0 70-210mm Macro PK

Auto Revuenon MC Zoom 1: 4.0 70-210mm Macro PK is an old telephoto manual focus lens for Pentax film cameras. I used Revuenon 70-210 / 4 on camera Canon 350D using the Pentax PK to Canon EOS adapter. On Canon cameras with APS-C sensor, the lens EGF is 112-336 mm.

Revuenon 70-210 / 4 has a pump-action design (to change the focal length you need to pull or push the zoom ring), and this is a 'single-ring' lens, i.e. he has only one large rubberized ring, which is designed to change the focal length of the lens and to focus. Zoom is completely internal. When you change the focal length, the rear lens remains stationary. It is unpleasant that the zoom very quickly changes the focal length of the lens under its own weight.

Focus ring rotates 180 degrees, with trunk lengthening and front lens rotation. The MDF is 1.3 meters, while at a 210 mm focal length, you can get the maximum magnification for macro photography - 1: 5. I think 1: 5 is too meager to add the 'Macro' prefix to the lens name. On the body there is a focusing distance scale and a depth of field scale, which is made using multi-colored lines corresponding to similar colors in the aperture value designation. There is a scale with a magnification factor for macro. The aperture consists of 8 blades, at F / 5.6 (and only) the blades form a jagged hole (as shown in the photo at the end of the article). Pentax cameras have automatic iris control.

As for the image quality from the sample from this review, there is no quality at all. Perhaps a broken lens came into my view. I would like to note the very strong sensitivity to glare, even greater than that of the 'blikolov' - Nippon Kogaku Japan Zoom-Nikkor Auto 1: 3.5 f = 43mm-f = 86mm.

Auto Revuenon MC Zoom 1: 4.0 70-210mm Macro PK is a very weak lens in all respects, even in spite of the constant maximum aperture and multi-layer coating.

Of course, no lens. But the pictures from the gallery with pigeons and a girl are just great!

    • Alexey

I also look, on the one hand the bokeh is miserable, but on the other, it attracts, immediately focuses on the focus ... I like it !!! But again, “it is not a camera, but a photographer who photographs” Thank you Arkady!

  • Andrei

And I liked both the lens and its picture! But I liked it!

  • Dima

Who put lenses from the pentax on a full-frame canon? I put it on the film canon - the mirror caught on the ledge of the blinker, and there were no problems on the crop.

    • Novel

I'm betting. Ale the leash of the blinker came to be cut, the schob did not draw for the mirror.

There is also a Revuenon MC Macro 80-205mm f4.5 lens, I wonder how much the characteristics differ between the two lenses?
