For myself, I noted that the focusing tenacity of the E-M1 is still inferior to DSLRs with phase focusing. The E-M1 is really fast and accurate in focusing, but in some cases, it takes more time to aim, especially in difficult situations where the camera 'drives' focus back and forth. Compared to DSLR cameras, the E-M1 greatly benefits from covering the frame with focus points (zones) and focusing when shooting video :)

I would like to share one specific feature of the E-M1 stabilizer. When the camera is turned off, the sensor, which is suspended by the stabilization system, knocks quite noticeably in the middle of the camera when it shakes slightly. One gets the feeling that something has broken in the middle of the camera body. But when I took off the lens and slightly shook the camera, I immediately saw how the matrix, suspended by the stabilization system, “floats” and at the same time can slightly tap. There is no tapping when the camera is on.

Another amazing indicator of the camera is the huge burst speed, which can reach 10 frames per second. This is a great indicator. And it’s very, very nice that frame buffer E-M1 is very capacious... In RAW format, the buffer will hold approximately 35-40 files, and in JPEG format approximately 45-50 files at maximum image quality. The capacity of the buffer changes slightly when you enable picture enhancement functions. The OM-D E-M1 captures about 160 MP images in one second (16 MP at 10 frames per second), and therefore its performance higher than very expensive professional SLR cameras such as Nikon D800, Canon 5D Mark III, etc. The only pity is that RAW files have only 12-bit color depth.

In my opinion, a lens with a maximum aperture ratio of 1: 6.3, complete with an expensive Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera, is a kind of mockery of the buyer. But it's good that the rest of the M.Zuiko Digital 12-50mm 1: 3.5-6.3 is good enough :)

M.Zuiko Digital 12-50mm 1: 3.5-6.3 internal focusing and internal zoom - when zooming and focusing, the lens does not change its size and neither the front nor the rear lens moves. The zoom and focus rings are non-rubberized. Focus ring electronic, without direct mechanical connection with the lenses of the lens, thus achieving a very smooth focusing. Automatic focus is fast and quiet.

For zooming, the ring is pulled back and forth by rotation, after which the camera begins to smoothly and silently change the focal length of the lens. On the body you can find two arrow markers 'Tele' and 'Wide' which indicate directions for increasing or decreasing the focal length.

3. Macro - in this mode, a maximum magnification of 1: 2.8 is available for macro photography, while the minimum focusing distance is 20 cm.In the normal mode, the MDF is 35 cm.To switch to this mode, you need to press the 'Macro' button located on the lens barrel and pull the zoom ring towards the front lens until it stops. After this manipulation, the focal length will always be 43 mm. The lens itself can not only work in macro mode, but also focus to infinity. Roughly speaking, in this position, a prime macro lens is obtained from a zoom lens.

            I would like to ask the owners of mirrorless cameras once again - do they have an electronic distance scale, that is, if I want to set the lens exactly at a certain distance, let's say 2 places, is it possible to do this through visual control, otherwise most lenses for these systems there is no distance scale. Only the rather expensive Olympus 12/2 has it ...

              Belated response.
              The other day I was holding Oly 12-40 2.8 in my hands: the distance scale is marked on the lens body. Moreover, the AF / MF mode switching ring (mechanical - the rim around the lens body) hides this very scale: when AF is selected, it hides, when you switch to MF - voila, the marks are visible. An unusual and savvy solution.
