Flash Nissin Di700 is available in two versions - for Canon cameras and for Nikon cameras. This review presents a flash for the NIkon CDC.
Di700 - inexpensive Chinese external flash, able to work in automatic TTL mode.
- The flash is large, only a little smaller in height than the original Nikon SB-910. It seems to be assembled not bad, but, as practice shows, in Chinese outbreaks after a certain time of use, certain jambs may appear. Nissin Di700 has metal foot for mounting.
- The flash is fixed to the camera by means of a rotating clamping disk. I can’t stand this method of fastening, it is much more uncomfortable with the usual latch on native Nikon flashes. You don’t always know where to turn the disk lock; it often gets stuck in bad weather, especially in the cold, with your bare hands there is no desire at all to unscrew this disk to remove the flash from the stand or from the camera.
- The Nissin Di700 supports high-speed sync, with the Nissin Di700 you can shoot at any shutter speed, even for 1/8000 s.
- Flash support automatic remote control using the system Nikon CLS... The Nissin Di700 can be easily ignited with the Master Flash. The only problem is that with the Nissin Di700 you cannot select a synchronization channel. When I took test shots using any of the available groups, the flash worked on any of the channels set on the camera. This is a trifle, but nevertheless, such a disadvantage can get in the way when, for example, you shoot with another photographer in the same place.
- The flash head rotates 180 degrees to the left and 180 degrees to the right, so the horizontal coverage angle is 360 degrees, which is very, very convenient.
- It's nice that the flash has a zoom of 24-200m, this is a very good indicator for an inexpensive product. Attention: the flash does not have the ability to set the zoom manually, the flash either adjusts the zoom to the focal length of the lens automatically, or simply sets it to 35mm. When you take out the diffuser card, the zoom automatically becomes 24 mm.
- The flash has a reflector card and a diffuser card.
- The case has PC-sync and a mini-jack for synchronization with studio flashes. There is also a connector for using battery packs.
- The flash uses 4 AA batteries to operate. They come out of the flash along with the compartment lid, as shown in the picture in the examples below.
- The flash has an additional backlight for the autofocus system. The backlight is based on two LEDs, in pitch darkness it helps with focusing, although I personally barely notice it through the viewfinder.
- There are very useful modes SD, SF for remote ignition of flashes based on a light trap. Of course, unlike the automatic remote mode, the power in such modes is set only manually.
- It is stated that the guide number is 48 m, but how the Chinese define this parameter remains a mystery. Therefore, I do not recommend paying too much attention to numbers. As far as reality is concerned, the Di700 should have enough power for any task.
- In TTL mode, exposure compensation is set in 1/2 stop increments. Usually, more advanced flashes allow you to use a step of 1/3 stop.
The flash menu is very simple and pleasant, based on LEDs. The flash has very few buttons - SET, the power button, the test pulse button and the wheel. In addition to the presence of a power correction, I still did not find how the 'A' mode differs from the 'TTL' mode, maybe someone will tell me in the comments.
My experience
I am always skeptical of non-native outbreaks. On the one hand, for a small price you can buy a very good and functional device, but on the other hand, nothing is better native outbreaks I have not met yet. In the Nissin Di700, I don’t like that the flash squeaks strongly when recharging, there is no indication of batteries, there is no possibility to set manual zoom, which is important when shooting with remote control. The battery compartment, too, is not the most convenient.

This is my first TTL flash, so I have only puppy delight from her).
I took it from the calculation of fast and convenient work in TTL mode on the camera. She copes with this perfectly. Making exposure compensation with the dial is quick and easy - that's the point. The flash has a special feature: the exposure compensation indication is set on the flash + 2 / -2. If more correction is needed, then this is done already from the camera as a correction for the pulse power on the lightning button, which raises the built-in flash. Then an additional + 1 / -3 steps appear.
On racks outside the camera I use purely in manual mode, and as an additional to the YN560-III. An umbrella for clearance or a softbox does not need a zoom.
Zoom The fact that they cannot be controlled is annoying morally, but in fact - there is always a way out. I do not worry and use a manual flash when I need it.

When choosing a light for myself, I clearly understood what I needed. I chose 2 non-native flashes for the price of one native. I feel so comfortable. I chose a kit for learning how to work with light.
PS I think it’s not correct to call it Chinese, just because it is going to be in China. It was developed by a Japanese company and this is what distinguishes it from Yongnuo, for example. And so, almost everything that we use is produced in China.

I don’t have Nisin, but the Yongnuo YN-568EX II kit, Yongnuo YN-468-II, two Yongnuo YN-560 II and four Yongnuo YN-622C work well for me and everything looks very decent and high-quality. Of course, it’s logical for the pros to have their own puffs and that is not necessary. I think it’s necessary to get used to the fact that China is becoming high-quality and competitive with the original, and not just a cheap replacement.
Still, if we come to the conclusion that the native flash is cooler, then why are all the pros and cons of Nissin so intently protested everywhere ?! Personally, I have been using non-native ones for several years (including Nissin) and I am quite satisfied with the quality. I have only one camera flash - sb700, but there are also two Falcon Eye studio flash units, complete with umbrellas and stands. So far I've shot 500-800 puffs with them, but they completely suit me, no jambs on their side. I think that any flash will do for studio photography - the main thing is to get used to it. But in the reportage mode, for the time being, I would be afraid to take something other than the native flash - after all, the jambs in the reportage mode are unforgivable.

Over time, the rigid mechanism loosens and during sequential shooting, the flash head rotates spontaneously when the camera rotates sharply, which interferes with operation. I’m writing for this for a reason, because it’s a real flaw that you encounter in real working conditions.
Nissin Di866 worked for about five years, offhand> 100k puffs, nothing loose. On the SB-900, the constant jerking of this lock is annoying. Hands will reach - I'm picking nafig :)

The 900 has been working for the third year already, the rubber insert from the “temple” has come off and the glass melted a little, changed the lamp a couple of times, the master says that they have a mileage of about 3 flashes. 60.000 is about a year, no flaws. I had a couple of German and Chinese, failed in 910-1 months of operation. Of course, this only means that it was in my case that these flashes behaved like this. Now I have a melted Metz-2 with a broken battery cover (it is attached to the electrical tape) and a plastic leg that is bent and with a 48mm zoom stuck. At one time I took it for decent money. I sometimes use it as a third light source.
