Review of Yongnuo Speedlite YN468-II for Canon TTL Digital Cameras

I got a review of the brand new Yongnuo Speedlite YN468-II for Canon cameras. In the box, in addition to the flash, I found a support foot, a black velor case, a manual and a Yongnuo booklet. Almost all Yongnuo flashes have the same scope of delivery, differ only in the case, it is either velor or rectangular in dense fabric.

YN468-II looks like two drops in appearance like two drops model YN460, the differences are only in the filling and the monochrome display that appeared in the YN468-II. The button layout of the YN468-II and YN460 is the same as the guide number. That's just the YN468-II can work in automatic TTL (ETTL for Canon) mode. The flash can adjust its zoom to the focal length of the lens in the range from 24 to 85mm. The zoom can be set manually by pressing the 'Mode' + 'On / off' button combination. ETTL works pretty well.

YN468-II has diffuser card and reflector card, metal legand the flash head rotates to 270 degrees (180 to the left and 90 to the right). On the case you can also find a PC sync connector and an auto focus backlight sensor. The focus light can be turned off by pressing the key combination 'Mode' + 'minus button'. The backlight is bright enough.

Yongnuo flashes, including YN468-II, have useful remote modes - S1, S2how they work is described in a senior flash review YN565EX... Of course, the flash can be operated in manual power mode 'М'and can operate in' Multi 'strobe mode. Please be aware that the YN468-II does not support high-speed sync mode, cannot control other flashes in automatic mode, and cannot operate in automatic slave mode.

I do not like the fact that flashes are produced simultaneously for Nikon and Canon, while in the software part of the flash there are “traces” from the second system. So in the YN468-II the empty field 'ISO' catches the eye, which in the version of the flash for Nikon cameras displays the current ISO value, and on the copy from this review for Canon cameras there is only a dash 'ISO —-'. But still, I liked the simple YN468-II much more than YN565EX, which is trying to bribe a buyer with its advanced but unfinished functionality. If you need a high-speed sync mode and an automatic remote control mode, then a flash is suitable for such tasks YN568EX.

The cheapest is to buy Yongnuo flashes at aliexpress.

Conclusions:
The YN468-II is a simple and inexpensive auto flash for Canon cameras. The flash can be controlled remotely with manual power settings using operating modes S1, S2. The flash has a decent build, but the battery cover is very flimsy. The menu is very small and the flash is easy to use.

Thank you for attention. Arkady Shapoval.

Good afternoon. And please tell me - with what shutter speed this flash can be synchronized as much as possible?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      My Canon 350D worked fine for 1 / 200s.

  • Alexander

I own such a flash, only for Nikon. I did not understand how to turn on the Multi mode. Arkady, tell me, please.

  • Sergeets

As far as I remember, one of the few flashes that can zoom by adjusting to the angle of view of cropped cameras (50 mm for FF and 50 for cropped are different things). And by the way, I have Nikon, but the iso is also not displayed - perhaps due to the fact that the automatic is worth it.

  • Dmitriy

There is one for Nikon. I can add that the laser focus illumination works a little strange: autofocus often misses, and with different lenses. Forced to just turn it off

  • Novel

    1/250 30d, 1/200 5d mark 2

  • Sergei

Thanks for your review. In the Nikon version, focus illumination is on / off by a combination of buttons - “mode” + “on / off”, and the zoom is adjusted by “mode” + “+”. ISO is not really displayed, but to the baht lid. compartment just takes some getting used to.

I bought yn467 for Nikon over a year ago. Not used intensively. Compatibility with d40 was found, used in manual mode. When I wanted to use it a couple of days ago, I found that it stopped working normally. I sinned on batteries, but the new batteries turned out to be the same, I worked a little and completely stopped. An hour later I took it out of the bag - I found that it was all in some kind of liquid, it feels like an electrolyte, although there is an unlikely chance that it was mineral water. He pulled out the batteries, there was also liquid inside. Rinsed under the tap. Later I disassembled everything, there are suspicions that the capacitor leaked, but did not find any visible damage, it is also not noticeable on the batteries. While it is disassembled, a device is needed to measure the capacity.
In addition, the design is flimsy, the battery compartment is annoying. The engine inside is small, mostly plastic.
In general, I'm not going to buy more Chinese crafts.

      * No compatibility with d40

    • Artem

In fairness, after all, the new battery turned out to be swollen, and the batteries seemed to be discharged.
I collected it back, broke off the latches, but it seemed to work.

    • Alexey

Do you have a lid from the battery compartment?

  • Peter

    With Nikon d50 TTL works.

  • Nikita

I have been using this type of flash on Canon for over a year. Feelings - especially pleasant, especially after buying two sets of batteries and a charger for them. Works great at home and on home holidays. If you want more performance, you should look towards the proprietary flash. The same flash is for acquaintance in general with such a concept as pulsed light. TTL works fine, no problem. Focus errors on the grid occur because not all cameras have cross-shaped focus points.

  • Jury

Hello! Can someone tell me whether it is worth taking 468-11 for s3 fuji? I can’t find out exactly where TTL compatibility is. Thanks a lot.

  • Ivan

The flash is good for beginners to learn. And also for leisurely work. Dislikes high-speed work (a long series of shots in a row), dislikes batteries on which voltage begins to sink. Has a number of "standard" sores (as well as all the outbreaks of this manufacturer). Treatment methods are both "standard" and dancing with a tambourine. in general - worth the money.

  • Oleg1601

Will such a flash fit the Nikon D3100 (Nikon option only)?

    • Maksim

When you connect the d3100, he recognizes her (and she, too). but it does not always work correctly in terms of power, most likely due to the inclusion of auto iso! there was no way to understand. And so by all the sensations of their money it costs ($ 75 with delivery to a well-known Chinese resource). I can not compare with the original ones in the absence of experience in using such, but it differs from the built-in oh.

      • Oleg1601

        Thank you for your reply!
Was auto iso turned on in the camera?

  • Victor

Tell me, is this flash suitable for the Canon PowerShot S5 IS?

  • Vadim

Suitable for Nikon D 5200? I am completely new. Tell me please. TTL does not work. flash for nikon. thanks

  • Vadim

and how to configure it. retried everything. so puff is not bad for a beginner i.e. for me. understand help pliiz

  • Vlad

Is this flash suitable for the D700?

  • Novel

Which battery voltage is best for this flash?

  • Igor

Hello Arkady, thank you for your work, I learned a lot from you. Please tell me, in TTL mode “to the ceiling” this puff (for Nikon) is strongly overexposed at open aperture. D5100 + 35 1.8G.

  • Igor

It turns out that the TTL in the "ceiling" does not work correctly, I wonder if native flashes suffer from this problem?

  • Eugene

How to turn on the shutter release on the second curtain in 468-2? Thanks.

    • Iskander

The 2-curtain mode is set in the camera itself.

  • Lina

Please tell me if that flash is suitable for Kenon 500d or buy another model of this brand

  • Spindle

All the good day, I am writing comments, ale here "I did not manage") Sleep for my pennies MEGA !!! I argue: May 2 pieces (on nikon) "firmly and indestructible" were transferred to the fall (in one case, the case had to be glued with superglue, and the first time to mechanically correct the group of contacts in the battery window) ... tim on d600, before tim on d5100))), so that the total amount of time is more than 3000 !!! rock (spoken through the "trap", and at the same time through the synchronizer), do it with the c5 and c1 modes - get out. I am basically a school and childish photographer, ale and vidpratsovuyut without problems (just attach the photo). When prompted to autofocus it is effective, but not effective. On charged Akums, you can spalahuvati at once from the black shutter, ale descho it sits down (I think food is up to Akum). Really "robocha horse" !!! Plus, really masa - do not obey (all at a time, and will not describe). Definitely RAJU !!!

  • Zarina

Good evening, I have a problem. There’s no mess. List. Working robot. Robot. What can be?
