Overview of the Yongnuo RF-602 / N Radio Synchronizer

Yongnuo Digital RF-602 / N Wireless Flash Trigger (More Suitable for Nikon camera) - a simple Chinese radio synchronizer for Nikon cameras.

Overview of the Yongnuo RF-602 / N Radio Synchronizer

I have been using Yongnuo RF-602 / N for quite some time, the synchronizer is very easy to use and has never failed. Yongnuo RF-602 / N comes in a quality box made of thick cardboard. The kit consists of a Yongnuo Digital transmitter Wireless controller FSK 2.4GHz RF-600TX and receiver Yongnuo Digital FSK 2.4GHz RF-602RX. Also in the box you can find a 3.5mm PC sync cord with a 3.5-2.5 adapter and instructions in English and Chinese. In the box are still batteries for the synchronizer.

The transmitter uses a rare CR2 battery in our area. The battery compartment on the transmitter easily opens and closes. Receiver RF-602RX Uses 2 AAA batteries.

The synchronizer operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz and it can be tuned to 16 different communication channels using 4 switches. I always use a trigger with all the switches in OFF mode.

Attention: Yongnuo RF-602 / N does not support automatic flash modes, it just ignites an external flash. Wherein external flash is transferred to the 'M' operating mode, the power is manually set on it, and is triggered by the synchronizer command. If there are difficulties when working with manual power settings external flash, then you can try to get some Nikon flashes to work in such an interesting mode.

Yongnuo Digital Wireless Controller Transmitter FSK 2.4GHz RF-600TX

Yongnuo RF-602 / N does not support Nikon FP High Speed Sync Mode, and the minimum excerpt synchronization is 1/250 seconds. I shoot 1/250 with no problems with the camera Nikon D700 and flashes SB-910by making them sync with the Yongnuo RF-602 / N. At 1/320 s with such a bunch, 'stripes' already appear on the image.

Attention: when installing the transmitter RF-600TX on the camera, the camera does not 'see' it. In low light conditions, when installing an external native flash, the camera in semi-automatic modes P, A automatically sets shutter speed 1/60 second. When working with RF-600TX the camera does not know that it has flash control equipment. Therefore, with the Yongnuo RF-602 / N synchronizer, you can actually work only in the manual 'M' mode of camera control. There will also be problems when using automatic white balance, BB better set manually.

Attention: the manual states that Yongnuo RF-602 / N does not support Nikon flash SB-600 (isn’t it?) and there are rumors that there are also problems with some third-party outbreaks.

Interesting: my synchronizer (which is for Nikon) ignites flashes and c cameras Canon 350D and from the camera Pentax K-5. I burned flashes without any problems Metz Mecablitz 48AF-1 for Nikon, Yongnuo Speedlite YN460, YN468-II, YN560-II и YN565EX.

I do not like this synchronizer in that its receiver does not have a latch for mounting on the flash foot. If, for example, set RF-602RX on the umbrella and flash holder, and in RF-602RX install a heavy flash, then such a design will simply disintegrate. I have to tape with loss tape RF-602RX from holders and 'legs'. The transmitter also doesn't have a latch to lock it to the camera, but it weighs very little and never spontaneously falls out of the camera's hot shoe.

Monopod as a mobile stand for lighting

Under the flash there is a synchronizer receiver, so that the receiver does not fall out of the umbrella and flash holder, I just wrapped the receiver leg with adhesive tape.

Even though I have a version for Nikon cameras, my Yongnuo RF-602 / N quietly fires Nikon flashes from Canon cameras :). The technical characteristics and different methods of working with the synchronizer are clearly shown in the instructions (here is a scan) It costs Yongnuo RF-602 / N about 40 cu

The cheapest is to buy Yongnuo synchronizers on aliexpress.

Also, Yongnuo RF-602 / N can be used for remote shutter release, but for this you need to buy a special synchronization cable.

From inexpensive radio synchronizers you can look to the side Yongnuo RF-603N и Commlite ComTrig T320.

Conclusions:

The Yongnuo RF-602 / N is a very simple, inexpensive synchronizer for remotely 'firing' flashes, both on-camera and studio. Of the shortcomings, I want to highlight the use of a rare CR2 battery for the transmitter and the lack of fastening latches for fixing the receiver, other models of 'various Chinese' synchronizers have fastening clips.

There are two further modifications: Yongnuo RF-603 и Yongnuo RF-603 II.

Help please, maybe someone knows. There is a Nikon camera and a cheap Metz flash that does not support manual mode, only TTL. So, when using Soviet glasses, the flash refuses to work, says change the optics, but I repeat - no manual mode. The question is: will it be ignited through the synchronizer, and if so, which one?
    Thank you.

    • Alexander

some cameras have a mode in the settings (camera operation without a lens is for mechanical macro rings) try using it ...

    • Michael

The remedy is to put the dandelion on the adapter. The camera thinks that the lens is autofocus, the flash is on. The synchronizer will be the same - either a TTL signal from the camera, or without TTL, a flash in manual mode, which is not there.

    (RF-602 / N does not support Nikon SB-600 flash)
This link has been working for me for several years now.

Should I connect the transmitter via cable and put another flash in place of the hot shoe?

  • Hius.

I have a FIL-107 flash (high voltage). Nikon D5000 Camera What kind of radio synchronizer is needed, so as not to throw out the flash?

    • Alexander

in file 107, the voltage for ignition is up to 80 volts, so that the triggers do not (burn out) you need to make a step-down transformer (2-4 V.) specifically for the file.

If you work with 2 receivers will it work?

  • Dmitriy

Tell me who can! I'm not on friendly terms with equipment at all. I don't understand how to switch channels on the receiver. On the transmitter, ON | OF is freely translated by the needle, and on the receiver, the needle is bent, but the toggle switches are not moved to another position ...

I will note one more thing. I am using a hot shoe splitter on a canon 60d. If you put only one of this transmitter and do not use the second shoe, then it will not work when the shutter is released. Regardless of whether it is on the right or on the left shoe. The flash works great alone. Therefore, when installing this transmitter on a splitter, I always put a flash or an IR transmitter on the second contact. And I bought this "double" just for the installation of dense light to illuminate the focus and the transmitter. But alas. I bought a separate handle for the light.

    Good time…
    Please tell me ... I have a compact Sony rx100 m2 hot shoe ...
If, for example, you take the simplest transmitter such as Andoer or Wanspen and naturally connect the receivers to an external flash, will it even work?
