Canon 1000D is an old and unpretentious camera released in 2008. This is the first hobby camera to break the hobbyist lineup from Canon 300D to Canon 700D... In 2011, another similar camera was released - Canon 1100D.

The 1000D uses a 10.1 megapixel sensor to capture images of 3888 x 2592 pixels. The number of megapixels equal to ten is a kind of psychological trick. In my opinion, many camera manufacturers specifically aimed to increase the sensor to 10MP, because 'ten' sounds much more attractive than the 8MP of the previous generation cameras. Canon 1000D uses the same sensor as Canon 400D и Canon 40D and can use ISO from 100 to 1600. The ISO sensitivity range cannot be expanded and is very narrow nowadays. Noise level at high ISO values is not very happy.

The weakness of the Canon 1000D is burst shooting. In JPEG mode, the camera can shoot at a speed of 3 frames per second, but when switching to RAW (or RAW + JPEG) image quality mode, speed is only 1.5 frames per second. This is the slowest burst speed of all Canon and Nikon digital SLR cameras. Yes, the camera is still small frame buffer.

If you turn off additional features designed to improve image quality, such as auto brightness, noise reduction at high ISO, noise reduction at slow shutter speeds, then frame buffer is:
- 9 pictures in JPEG L format, but at the same time, you can shoot at a speed of 3 frames per second until the card is full. This is good news because in JPEG format frame buffer becomes almost endless :)
- 5 shots in RAW format, but at the same time, after the 3rd shot, the camera starts to slow down. Because the actual buffer in RAW format is only 3 frames.
- 4 pictures in RAW + JPEG L format, and after the 3rd shot the camera starts to slow down.
If you enable all the additional features described above, then frame buffer is only 1 shot with any image quality. Fans of shooting in series in the RAW's of the Canon 1000D seem like a very bad camera.

My camera is made in Japan, the assembly is the same as that of many other amateur-level cameras. The camera has a simple menu and is very easy to manage. The Canon 1000D does not have a very large 2.5-inch display, which is quite suitable for viewing photos on the camera. I like the fact that Canon has many cameras that cannot record video, but at the same time support the very useful Live View mode. These cameras include Canon 40D, 50D, 20 Da, 450D, 1Ds Mark III, 1D Mark III and Canon 1000D. For example, I completely don’t need video recording in the camera, but the Live View mode on the Canon 1000D and other cameras is very, very useful, especially when working with old autofocus opticalth. The Canon 1000D's Live View works very well, with an instant 5 or 10x zoom. I’m even a little sorry that my Nikon D700 has serious 'brakes' in displaying the picture when Live View is on, and Nikon cameras that have only Live View without video, there are only 4 of them - Nikon D300, D3, D700, D3x and all of them cost or cost a lot of money in their time.

I myself used such a camera for 2 years, until it outgrew. I agree with Arkady: the most significant disadvantage is ISO 1600, but even at 800 the matrix is very noisy. BUT, for that kind of money (you can find it for less than UAH 2000), no competitor has done anything like this.

From all kinds of reviews, I made one main conclusion for myself - the carcass is not so important for an amateur as straight arms and good glass. In this case, the knowledge gleaned from the Internet was confirmed by practice - instead of a whale, the father's Helios 44-2 was installed (through the appropriate adapter) and the basic principles of manual operation were studied. The result makes me quite happy))

A friend was looking for a used camera, took a 1000d 18-55ll with a mileage of 7000, a bag, a 4GB card and filters for all occasions for the price of a part-time weekend. I gave it a try and I liked the camera. Access to the focusing areas was strained, but there was not a single glitch in the 7-point autofocus, and the lens produced a sharp image. The color balance is flawless, the jeep came out without the need for color correction. ISO 800 is normal at night, focusing is fast. I wouldn’t take a camera for myself, if I come across one with low mileage, I’ll take a Nikon D60 or D3000, because... I have a certain fleet of optics and a desire to have a 10MP SSD matrix with a light body, and focusing is fine at one point, and a working ISO of up to 400 is quite satisfactory.
