Nikon D610

This is a preliminary note about the Nikon D610 camera, which was published on October 8.10.2013, XNUMX.

Nikon D610

Nikon D610

Nikon D600 - a good amateur full-frame camera, but some of them have a serious drawback - oil getting on the camera sensor (proof link). Most likely Nikon just decided to get rid of the oil problem and do the 'right' Nikon D600 under a different name - Nikon D610 :)

Main differences Nikon D600 and D610:

  1. New shutter mechanism. Let's hope that there will be no more problems with oil.
  2. Silent continuous Qc shooting at 3 fps.
  3. Improved system white balance.
  4. Nikon D610 has increased the maximum shooting speed from 5.5 to 6 frames per second.

Judging by the information from the presentations, in everything else the cameras are completely identical :(

The camera has already begun to be sold:

Thank you for attention. Arkady Shapoval.

Also today, by going to an offsite, Nikon noticed the appearance of a new product, but the D610 seems to be on sale so far. Where does Nikon (and Canon) fly saluting with the release of cameras? Even the D600 did not have time to take root, but here the D610 arrived.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Sales of 600tk fell after boosting media issues with the shutter oil. So you need to do a rebranding.

      • Alexander

Arkady says everything correctly, this is bare marketing, nothing more, after such a failure with oil, 600 will not be sold, therefore rebranding was made, 610 has more chances for life than 600

        • Basil

The 600 is a pretty interesting camera. 610 seems to be repaired as it was with SB 900 -> SB910

          • Lynx

and what was wrong with 900?

          • anonym

            Yeah, what's wrong with her?

          • Sergei

and what was wrong with 900?
            ==============================
sort of a problem of overheating

      • Andrei

I can give a review, if still relevant :)

  • Oleg

And about the pricing policy for the "novelty" there is no information yet? Surely marketers on the sly a couple of hundred evergreen raccoons to the price tag

    • Basil

The price seems to be on the American site of the same as on the d600 :)

    • Anatoly

Maybe someone knows, Nikon gives an oiler with solid oil to the kit?
      ____________________________________________
Hmm !!! Tightened Nikon with the quality of the latest models, marketers probably run the ball in the office.

    • Anatoly

No Nikon, thanks, no, such a miracle. I’ll better shoot the D700, you have no alternative yet

  • Sergei

Marketing marketing, but this state of affairs does not paint Nikon at all. And if suddenly another incident happened to the new model, so after half a year they will release the d620 again and say, this is a completely different camera, innovative! Buy it! Now with a dipstick to check the oil level!))
With d5100 ripen to ng to buy ff. In addition to the bu 700, I don’t want anything and look more and more at brand 2. It is a pity that Nikon does not release any d710 with a 20 megapixel matrix, a new processor, etc.

    • Denis

I also have similar thoughts, possessing the D7000 I want a second camera (I shoot events), the D600 didn't impress somehow, Nikon colleagues dissuaded from the D800. And the Mark II paired with a Canon 135 f2 L-lens, even with basic photographic skills, gives a simply charming picture (for example, a portrait) - one of the best options for a staged photo.

      • Basil

        D800 is a good camera, but a little demanding .. D600 + d7100 = d800 :)

  • Ivan

They say that for 100 bucks the initial price will be less.

  • Madness Scif

hmm, nikon has recently been pleased with the disgusting quality of its products. for example, my d7000 starts crunching if you hang a 28-105d lens on it and puff sb800 with a booster (and the crunch is heard from the front of the grip). for six months of using the carcass, three broken pixels appeared, although the camera has only 25000 frames. it seems that the carcass will not last the 150 operations declared by the manufacturer at all. the lenses also became terrible in terms of build quality - a lot of front-back focus (((. many thanks to thailand (

    • Basil

was D7000, after some 10-000 mileage the camera stabilized, the debris disappeared, the front back focus did not observe the optics with which it drove 35/50/90, I did not observe any visible problems ...

  • S. Mazur

really, really a shame for Nikon. here it’s either expensive and d800 is not always needed, or amateur and truncated d600 .. but there is no middle ground .. I don’t consider the d700 because it’s already outdated, although it’s a workhorse.
with canon it is easier there is a golden mean - 5dMark2, 5dMark3 ... and for fans there is 6d ...
and whatever you want to do, and after all, the fleet of optics and flash units with synchronizers is already under Nikon ... = (

    • Basil

yes now d600 or d800 :) The second one is very demanding to use, although it draws very much

    • Sergei

the same problem. at least sell everything and climb to Kenon :(

  • Denis

This suggests a conclusion about the advisability of purchasing cameras with the prefix "prof", especially if at least sometimes there is an opportunity to earn extra money by photographing. In professional cameras (the simplest and most accessible example is the D300s), autofocus is always brought to mind, which is very, very important when reporting. Getting a technically correct (sharp in the intended place) picture is a direct dependence on tenacious and fast autofocus. For me personally, the priority parameter in a DSLR has always been and will be “doped”, accurate and not lazy autofocus.

  • i-hero-in

Nikon will soon become like Apple:

    - How can we please photographers?
    - Let's release a NEW camera!
    - What will be new in it?
    - Well, there were a lot of complaints about the D600 shutter ... Let's change the shutter for it! Especially since the old ones are almost over.
    - Ok, but this seems to be not enough. Can we do a shutter speed of 1/8000 s? The shutter is new, it allows.
    - No, they've had enough! Let's change the firmware again and say that the white balance has now improved!

    • Madness Scif

Dadad, straight to the point !!!

    • Sergei

      + 100%!

  • test

Nutritionists advise taking the D610, as it is without oil!

  • Sasha

I read the comments about Nikon and the D5100 stopped hunting: ((
    Get a Canon 600D or something ???

    • Igor

You are in vain! For the money, the D5100 is now the best option in terms of price / image quality.

      • Sergei

        + 100 %

        • Sasha

But what if I want to switch to the full format? I understand that in terms of price-quality ratio, Canon's Full Frame cameras are better than their Nikon counterparts.

          • Sergei

            how can I tell you ... Mark 3 for $ 3200 or D800 for $ 2300 - I don't even know which is better ...
            6D is a very decent camera at a price of $ 2300 per kit with 24-105 / 4 L

          • Lynx

and what, after buying 5100, buy top Nikon glasses for him for 40-70 thousand each immediately, that it will be difficult to sell them for a long time and change the system? )))

    • Madness Scif

all markers taste different. D5100 is better than 600d, if you do not chase megapixels) or even better add and take d5200 or d7000

      • Vladimir

What kind of nonsense are you writing? Compare Fuck to a finger ... !!!

    • rescuero

D5100 is an excellent camera for its money, I agree with Igor that this is by far the best option, I used it for a year, I have the warmest memories.

      • Basil

d7000 for management is much more convenient a little heavier, but there is a lot of everything that is very convenient

The screen is on top of the camera and less you need to climb in the menu to switch between modes.
a screwdriver opens the world of D optics which is full of nicknames and it is cheaper than G and removes no worse.

50 F1.8D magic lens for the money and the sharpness that gives, any lenses are suitable.

    • Sasha

All the same, I will buy the D5100. And it’s a pity to give a lot of money on equipment, if I don’t know whether I will be professionally engaged in photography. And by then, maybe Nikon will have something better in this segment. )))

    • Alexander

The best of CROP cameras is the Nikon d90. If not FF, then d90 is better. Nikon d5100 is inferior to him in the photo. The d90 has good optics, for example the Sigma AF 35 f1.4 and the Nikon 70-200 zoom, and you will be happy if your hands don't grow out of w ... In the future, of course, FF will want to use these pieces of glass.

      • Konstantin

Personally, in my opinion, the best d300-d300s is from cropping.

    • Alexander

Take it, you won't regret it. Any lenses, without division into “for a screwdriver, not for a screwdriver,” and the overwhelming majority then safely switch to FF, a full-fledged, very convenient (with the necessary control) baht. block at a very nice price (which is not on the D5100), a time-tested excellent camera without unnecessary bells and whistles. And the quality of the pictures will depend solely on your skill….

    • Stas

In vain you are so, who has hands from…. he grows badly ... 5100 machine that you need.

  • Vladimir

So maybe Nikon D700 after all, otherwise everyone began to shout with one voice that it was morally outdated, yes, there are not many gadgets on it, well, it's a pleasure to shoot the 700th. I feel that dry closets for professionals will also be shoved into cameras (well, you know, there are different cases) ... Good luck to everyone and interesting pictures.

    • Sergei

and ripening on Mark 3. Nikon apparently dismissed the engineers and his marketers are sitting on the moon and are far from our expectations.

    • Konstantin

Exactly! As many have already written, well, so far, Nikon does not have an average model. with the D800 I went too far I think a stick with megapixels. The D700 has remained a workhorse for many years to many. Does taking the D610 make sense? Shoot a video or something? For D300-D700 devices, if I am not mistaken, the same autofocus and it is really very high quality. For reporting is indispensable.

  • Sergei

Nikon is not being prepared for sale following the example of BB and Nokia?
it’s not clear what Nikon’s engineers are doing as well as the marketers. For 3 years, the office did not roll out a single new thought.
    on the mirrors:
    D7100 = D7000 + AF from FF + Sony matrix.
series 3xxx and 5xxx - changing matrices and moving AF modules between models.
    D800 - Sony sensor + old AF.
we will not talk about the D600, throw a beta product on the market and then fix it in the form of D610 ...
and even worse, Nikon is not able to assess the demand for the D700 replacement model and release something like the D610 but with normal AF.
at least for the quiet regime that Kenon did a year ago honored.

about ... whether the market of BZ, now they are urgently coming up with a new application / name for system 1.
about .. if the market of advanced soap dishes, their pathetic semblance of Fuja X20 impressed no one.

    Where is the 21st century?
where are the new AF modules for matrices of such pixel density?
Where is phase AF in live view? where is sane wifi? Where is the replacement of the D700?
Where are the NEW ones solutions? not copying someone and not catching up, but something new?

  • Sergei

It is unclear why they released it at all, would lower the price of d 800 by another half a thousand ye and would start with the addition of d700 and d300s, they would lower the prices of optics like a canon, and so the Japanese themselves outwitted the campaign, ruined the company, would surrender to the canon and they wouldn’t be tormented by themselves and didn’t torment consumers.

    • Yaroslav

So they (along with Canon) drag people to the budget full frame, so their interest in this segment is great. And the decline in prices in the United States, which led Sergei confirms this.
      >> would give up to canon and would not suffer themselves and would not torment consumers
God forbid, otherwise Canon will become a monopolist. Then we will not see anything new for a long time. Although the segment of DSLRs will narrow (at least budget), perhaps it will spur innovation. And choosing a system is really a difficult task, they wrote correctly on foto.ua: it’s easier to choose a car

      • Sergei

God forbid, otherwise Canon will become a monopolist. Then we will not see anything new for a long time.

    • Alexander

I still can’t understand, why did the Nikon d800E make such a price? And most importantly, a few years stable! In my deep conviction, it is not worth it.

  • rescuero

And I was pleased with the output of the D610, I think that the price of the D600 should fall and there will be an occasion to switch to a full frame. I already encountered oil on the matrix on the D7000, with straight hands there is nothing terrible about this, everything is perfectly cleaned, I did not observe relapses after a single cleaning.

    • Sergei

below $ 1800 per whale will not fall - the bulk was sold out until February at discounts.
Now they will quickly scatter around 1900 for the whale and will sell the D610.
although the D610 is already late to the market, if there are no discounts up to 2K per whale, it will be lying around in the warehouse.

    • Sergei

unlike the D7000, the D600 has a constant relapse, and it is unclear what will happen with the shutter in 2 years if the oil spills out.

    • Alexander

For six months, the price of d600 fell by not much, not less by 1000 UAH! We are waiting "with ...?

  • And_rew

It seems like a dozen on Nikon's model number (910,610) is a subject model with corrected shortcomings.

  • Do_Oraemon

In general, it somehow turns out strange. There are two familiar photographers-bombiles with Nikons D600 and none of them have problems with oil. But those who have no D600 - they shout that there is a problem with the oil on the matrix. Miracles, and only ...

    • Sergei

Nikon sent such a piece of paper to its service
      https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18180
      study.
well nikonrumors was a poll - who has a problem with oil in the D600.
The preview was received for the D600 test with oil on the matrix.
the largest office for renting photo equipment in America reported that all 100% of the carcasses it received had oil.
study before drawing conclusions based on two carcasses of bombs that you personally did not even test for a problem

      • Do_Oraemon

Do you have a D600? Or acquaintances personally faced with the oil problem? I wrote a comment based on my personal experience. My friends knew what they were doing, buying a "problem" model. But there was still no oil, and still is not, although both have run well beyond 50 thousand. Believe me, they themselves were anxiously awaiting the moment when oil appears on the matrix. Therefore, you would also test first, before making "far-reaching" conclusions.

        • anonym

Oil problems (very small) were with some copies of the first batch of D600, later and to this day the D600s are "clean"! Nikon has a slightly different real drawback - the lack of a sufficient number of service workshops, cameras are sold by shops just the sea. If any glitches occur, it is easier to just throw off the camera for half the price ...

          • Do_Oraemon

            This is it.

          • Sergei

don't make it up. call adorama or VN - they are still getting D600 with oil, since the conditions allow. carcasses there are always fresh, sales of equipment there are huge. read nikon ru forum or what.
has been discussed millions of times - the problem cannot be solved without changing the type of shutter. for this you need to change the carcass inside.
therefore, they made the D610 with a different shutter from another supplier.

        • Sergei

I have a D600. after 3 cleanings, it was successfully and permanently given back to the manufacturer. I gave you the FACTS above - for the first time in the history of tests on the sensor, the D600 had oil. as well as dozens of carcasses in yusarente. Further. not a single FF DSLR of any brand had so many referees.
and you did not think - where is the oil? obviously this is not excess oil, otherwise the problem would be solved in a moment. since even now (read the forums!) D600s have oil leaks, the problem is obviously in the shutter - and it is impossible to solve without changing the shutter.
further - the partisans are thicker. OIL - cannot be removed by dry cleaning. wet cleaning - removal of the carcass from the guarantee with a probability of 90%. cleaning in the service - 50% will say your fault and take the money. Nikon's authorized services - not in all cities.
          continue to continue?

          • Do_Oraemon

What are you trying to convince me of? I don’t need the opinion of the forums on this matter. I repeat to you the third time: at once two acquaintances have NO ANY problem with oil. And here you start to refuel me. There is dust on the sensor - no oil. The preview was clearly one of the first copies that sinned this. And to say that on EVERY matrix of EVERY D600 is MANDATORY to have oil - this is really nonsense. The acquaintances of the shutter guarantee will soon end, but the oil never appeared. And this is not the opinion of abstract people from the forum, but cases from life. What else is needed?

            • Serg

Bought D600 in December 2013 - release August 2013 (one of the last installments)
I saw the first spots in the pictures already at the 200th frame! (before that, for 5 years there was a D90 camera, on which it shot 15000 frames, there were no spots, I changed lenses often, I studied these pictures biasedly again - there are no spots!).
On the D600, it became impossible to shoot at 1000 frames, the entire upper left corner was splattered. I handed it over to the SC for cleaning. Cleaned for free and good. Exactly 1000 frames later, spots appeared again in the pictures - localized in the same area. Neither a pear nor a balloon can be deflated. I handed it over for cleaning - they cleaned and changed the shutter. Now there are no problems yet.

          • Sergei

And to say that on EVERY matrix of EVERY D600 is MANDATORY to have oil - this is really nonsense.
            ================================================
            nobody says it except you.
there is a chance - much more than 50% - that when buying a D600 there will be a problem with the oil on the sensor. love the $ 2000 lottery?

            nobody convinces you of anything.
the facts - including Nikon's own documents for the service center - numerous complaints and returns to this day - suggest that there is a problem.
even if it’s not in 100% but in 90% of the owners of the camera, then what does it change? a marriage of more than 5% spoils the reputation of any mass product. in the case of the D600, we have to talk about the marriage of more than 50% of the D600 cameras on the market.
there are no first / non-first parties - unlike the D800. no series without this problem - the issue has been discussed many times. because the shutter remains the same.
ALL D600 carcasses have a 50% chance of oil leakage. that is why Nikon did not recall or replace the carcasses - because it is necessary to change ALL D600 cameras on the market.

            PS
Do not come up with a shutter guarantee. there is a guarantee for the carcass. there is NO separate shutter guarantee.

          • Do_Oraemon

About the guarantee, I may not have put it that way. The declared resource will be more correct and understandable for everyone.

About 90% - you really waved it. There are problems, but not at all on the scale that you are telling us about here.

Lottery or not - and the cost of a carcass perfectly pays off with several visits. Therefore, grabbing his head and shouting "bid-bid" is completely not worth it. This is a tool. Another thing is that the camera is bought by amateurs who just like to take pictures and do not live with it. For such people, this is really bad. And on the other hand, nobody forces them to buy “problem” cameras either. Everyone hopes for a chance and that this problem has passed them. Well then, excuse me if the lottery was not a win-win.

Here 50% are already more robust indicators. But to refuse a full frame for this reason is simply silly. An experienced user will clean the matrix himself, as he has everything necessary for this purpose, and a beginner has nothing to do with such a camera at all - there is a lower segment of amateur cameras for this.

          • Sergei

Here 50% are already more robust indicators.
            ===============================================
ok, let it be 50%. do you seriously think that 50% of defective cameras at the price of $ 2K is normal and the problem is exaggerated ???? :) :) :)

you diligently do not understand what you are talking about?
what to beat off? go to the wedding and screw up the session after discovering that there are frames with spots of oil?
What is an experienced user? Having bought for 2K evergreens, should I be able to do a wet wash with the risk of scratching the filter (changes with the matrix and costs like half a piece) and risk losing the guarantee?
and do this cleaning by telling the wedding cortege - wait, am I cleaning the awesome FF camera from the choresterin?

why refuse FF? there is also the D700 with a much better AF, there are the same D2300 for 800 dollars, there are 6Ds, there are Marks 2 - all with the same price tag from 1700 to 2300 dollars.

          • Do_Oraemon

Let's end the argument, otherwise Arkady will be upset and will mark our comments as spam.

It is obvious that everyone remained of their own opinion, and Nikon was already punished for such indicators of marriage as Sony were punished for their laptops with lighted batteries. It’s clear that trust in the brand has been undermined for a long time and the number of “Canonists” has since grown. By the way, I have never seen anyone sell Canon. The number of used canons is simply negligible compared to the number of used Nikons. Although I myself prefer Nikon for their color rendition, especially old CCD matrices.

The moral of this fable is this: you need to carefully and carefully study the reviews before buying another model, study the pros and cons, and only then decide whether to make such a purchase, or not. But impatience with many played a cruel joke - it was they who were punished.

        • MDA

I myself am the owner of the d600 and there are no problems with the oil. + I check regularly. Dust yes, I often change optics. I read somewhere that this defect was removed with the supply of new batches ... So there is no need to drive air. They rightly said that they were shouting about oil, only those who do not have it ...

          • Vladimir

And when and where did you get your D600? What serial? I have 609 ... I've bought a D600 on 18.09.2013/08.2013/4000 in Kiev (“Photo Sale”). The release date on the packaging is 22! There is dust on the matrix in the corner, but I don't see oil! I have already run XNUMX frames! Dust is only visible on F / XNUMX!

  • Alexander V.

I heard that they were going to make D610 without an anti-aliasing filter ... But it’s not destiny.

  • Evgeny*

if it is tied with glasses to nikon, then in this price category (d600-610) there is no other full-frame option?

    • Lynx

and D700 is not an option?

  • anonym

The D600 has fallen in price by $ 100-120 over the past two days. in many photo shops in Ukraine ... they are leaking, so the D610 will be coming soon.

    • Sergei

in America, the whale 600 fell by $ 700 ...
      however, like the D800.

  • Maksim

Yak on me - "Fool us!" There is nothing new in principle, they added a frame per second, there the balance of a white one was dyed, percent of the same, but from a vipryk of 1/4000, it’s not happy, not that virobnik yak for me, not that one. ((

  • Jury

in general, I think that the camera still makes sense in the new name, if of course everything is corrected there and then it guarantees that the jambs are not there, take it safely, it's yours, fresh, in Russia and Ukraine it’s certainly normal the price will not be soon, but it starts from the hill with a lower price tag than the starting one at 600ki

    • Maksim

The truth in your words is definitely e. But all the same, we are talking about the segment of expensive that (little but aprіorі) yakіsnih cameras. In D600, as a matter of fact, the customer got stuck with a matrix problem (oil), then the mood in a new one fell well, I know not a bit. A friend buying a camera and musing ride in Kiev for repair, scraps in Ivano-Frankivsk (that I zagaglі in zhіdnіy Ukraine) a lot of official repair Nikon, all tilki overpower in Kiev. For two bucks, having bought your own haemorrhoids, wondering about it, it’s not a good idea, all the same a close friend))) Tom’s deputy nameplate 600 to 610 for Nikon is logical, but there’s nothing for buyers, it’s very quiet for him with a matrix problem.
PS I know already on D90 I’m already rocky, so I’m not a professional, because I’m hobbie ale kolya pislya pivroku koristuvannya camera (probig at that time 15th frame.) I swelled gum bilya to the screen buv unbearably hostilities, and words about natural learning Zі slіv Nіkona) it wasn’t quieter, but the camera of the Todi camera far away posed a thousand dollars, and I didn’t have to bring them to Kiev to send them through the receiving station to the service. Vihid pidkleїv old, then through іbey ordering your own compartment of such gumki and glue as needed. Ale Duje Tse all unacceptable. Want tech is good. Vibachne for bagato sl_v. Garnich znіmkіv!

At me, too, the vikorystannya D90 swelled and lost its gum! I zder, immobilized in gasoline for igniters, hanging and gluing again not on scotch tape but with glue "Moment-crystal" (wichitav on the forum http://www.club-nikon.ru/) Tzya gum already 2 rockes trimming their own hands, not swollen and not visible, sitting on their own hands when buying) from the first time everything happened) !! So I svіy D90 mercilessly and selling, having bought D600!

Crazy for the joy! True, I put on a double-sided tape, tightly blown up for an hour, and then replaced gum with China for a couple of bucks per piece and glue for the required amount of time. By his own D600, it’s a good thing that my friend was tormented by my comrade, and for such a penny there’s a lot of bout. Vita with purchase!

Hmm !!! Komenty tough, castrated full-frame and insane MP are no brain brains consumer.
Marketers have really risen above reality.
Correctly write: Stagnation in the photo industry.

Arkady, nothing is said about the camera frame buffer?

    • Arkady Shapoval

Send me a d610, I will describe about the buffer. But more than sure that it is the same as the D600.

  • Vadim

Arkady, given a bunch of comments about stagnation in the photo industry, the machinations of marketers, lags at Canon and Nikon, I propose to start the topic of a digital dream camera. So that all the bright minds visiting your blog describe their vision of the future of photographic equipment and express their wishes (which I would like to see in the cameras of the future).

Without shelving: FOR PERMANENT WEARING: KROP, box type 30D or D300s or K5; matrix 8-10MP, ISO 50-12800 (matrix floor from 1D or D4), without video, screen 2,5 inches by 0,9MP; tenacious autofocus (-3 (4) - + 19AB) 11-19 crosses with double center; very quiet, quiet and fast shutter mode; series as God will give 7-11, buffer for 18-20 RAVs + LPG; resource 150-200 Kkadrov ...
... well, and the impudence is bad: interchangeable front panel (understandably optional), for the main lens manufacturers while maintaining autofocus automation ... fine adjustment in a "garage workshop"
