Review Tair-11 2,8 / 133 (white)

Review Tair-11 2,8 / 133 (white, also called gray and metal)

This is a small overview, as there is already a detailed overview on Radozhiv review Tair-11A 2.8 / 135.

Main differences Tair-11 2,8 / 133 from this review and the new Tair-11A 2.8 / 135:

  1. Different name. The letter 'A' in the lens name indicates the ability to use interchangeable shanks.
  2. The white version has a M39 mounting thread and is designed for SLR cameras with a working length of 45,2 mm.
  3. Lenses have a completely different body design. The black version skipped F / 8 on the depth of field scale. And white has no infrared shift mark. Black has a wider and more comfortable focus ring. White has a wider aperture setting ring.
  4. The black version has a retractable built-in hood.
  5. Different diameters for light filters. White has 49mm, black has 55mm.
  6. Different weight.
  7. Different minimum focusing distance. Black MDF is 1.2 meters, white - 1.5 meters
  8. Different resolution. According to the characteristics of black, the sharpness should be better.
Type of enlightenment of the Tair-11 2,8 133 lens and aperture

Type of enlightenment of the Tair-11 2,8 133 lens and aperture

Both lenses have a 20-blade aperture, and the focus ring in both rotates 360 degrees. There are also aperture setting rings and presets.

I don’t know why, but it was more convenient for me to focus with the white version of the lens than with the black. I used two black lens options and one white. White Tair-11 was sharper than its black counterparts.

Sample photos:

The parameters shown in the photo gallery:
Everything is filmed on Nikon D700. On-camera JPEG L ('optimal quality' compression). Filmed in Auto ISO mode, with shutter speed no longer than 1/200 second. Functions: vignetting control, ADL, noise reduction at long exposures, noise reduction at high ISOs were turned off. All shot in Picture Control mode SD (standard mode): contrast correction - 0, brightness - 0, saturation - 0, hue - 0, sharpness - position 5 between 0 and 9. Used white balance: 'Auto', 'Shadow' and 'Cloudy'. The size of the photos was reduced to 3 MP.

How to use with modern cameras?

Lenses with an M39 mounting thread (for SLR cameras, M39 X 1 / 45.2), such as the lens from this review, are very easy to use on almost any modern digital camera (both SLR and mirrorless), for this you just need to choose correct adapter. The cheapest adapters can be found aliexpress.com

For use on modern digital SLR cameras Canon EOS need M39-Canon EOS adapter, you can buy such an adapter (adapter) here. Also, an adapter M39-Canon EOS can be easily replaced with two adapters: M42-Canon EOS + M39-M42. Detailed information on the use of such lenses with any Canon EOS cameras will find here.

An adapter is required for use on Nikon SLR cameras M39-Nikon F, you can buy such an adapter (adapter) without a lens and a chip here. Also, one adapter M39-Nikon F can be easily replaced with two adapters: M42-Nikon F + M39-M42. Detailed information on the use of such lenses with any modern Nikon cameras will find here.

How to use this lens with cameras of other systems (Pentax, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, Samsung, Sigma etc.) - ask in the comments and you will be prompted. If you have any questions on compatibility and adapters, ask in the comments (comments do not require any registration at all, any user can add a comment).

Conclusions:

The old 'white' Tair-11 2,8 / 133 turned out to be no worse than its own 'black' brother. A great Soviet portrait lens. I recommend.

A cool drawing is given by many old lenses, it is a pity that many wretchedly look on modern central controllers.

    • Do_Oraemon

Yes, it's wretched, okay, let's put up with it ... But the fact that almost all Soviet lenses do not hold back and side light poorly due to the quality of enlightenment - this is really a bid-pichal :-(

  • Eugene

It is very interesting to know the opinion - which is better this lens or the Jupiter 37A? Just one and the other "A" - you can bet on nikon through the KP.

  • Valentin Kalenichenko

"White Tair-11 turned out to be sharper than its black counterparts." Everything is very simple: "white" was produced until the beginning of the 70s of the last century, when the USSR had a stricter technological discipline, especially in the defense industry, where all optics were produced. Therefore, as a rule, all “white” Zenith optics (M39 mounting thread) are better than their “black counterparts” with M42 threads. The exception, perhaps, is the “black” Helios-44 for Zenit-3M (M39), produced in 1970 by the Minsk Mechanical Plant according to the new GOST, with a minimum resolution (center / edge) of 40/20 instead of 35/14 according to the old: the picture is sharper. The Ju-37A is sharper than the T-11A.

    • anonym

“White Tair-11 was sharper than its black counterparts”
To be honest, this is a mystery to me. 11A was corrected precisely “for sharpness”. The Tair-11 has a pronounced spherical shape, due to which even some focusing shift is observed during aperture. At Tair-11A, this is completely invisible, the sphere was cleaned up well there. Tair-11 because of its softness and plasticity in my arsenal. And 11A was sold to the sharpness lover.

  • NikitosZs

Very much like Jupiter-11 (Garnet) ... Only my Jupiter is dark compared to this.

    • mAlex

“Jupiter” is a Soviet clone of “Zonnar” (except for width “12”), counted by Maltsev, that is, a descendant of a triplet, and “Tair” is a purely Soviet invention, a completely normal telephoto, by prof. Hair, and there is nothing in common, except for some similarity of the frame, between them. And the frame for different lenses in general can be the same (from ours - "Helios-44M", "Helios-77", "Zenitar-M", or "Industar-26", "Jupiter-8", "Industar-61LD ”), And may be different for the same lens -“ Jupiter-11 ”in this sense is very diverse.

Yu-37 is more bokeh and less light strength from tair-11, tair m "yakishe malyu

  • Zmitser

Has anyone planted it on Nikon while maintaining focus on infinity?

  • Kirill

I have a fotik Nikon 5100 on which I installed the M42 adapter (I originally used it for Helios 58) so as not to bother with the purchase of the M39 adapter (which costs more somewhere around 1,5 -2 p.) I decided to buy a transition ring on m39 and install a tair on it. Those. the connection system is as follows: carcass fotika, adapter M42, adapter lowering ring m39-42, Tair11 lens. So, when the lens was disconnected, the adapter ring stuck in the adapter, we removed the adapter and began to twist it. Maybe there is some kind of device for removing the adapter ring from the adapter?

    • Maksim

I pre-oiled the ring with oil. Just a little bit to slide.

  • Sergei

He put it on a Nikon d7000, bought 2 adapters, with and without glass. Without glass, infinity is lost; with glass, the photograph is completely soapy. What's the trouble? And another question, does it work correctly? Indeed, in the lens settings you can not set the value to 133, only 135

  • Alexander

    Thanks for the review.
I wonder how he behaves on the crop?
And can infinity be done without a lens? (I will try later to ask a question to Kuryanov)

    • anonym

On Olympus and Sony, you can easily. They have 44 and 44,5 and this is clearly less than 45,2. Therefore, everything is decided by the adapter. On Kenon and Nikon, in principle, too, but this will require turning work or a set of quotation rings for adjustment under 45,5 or 46,5.

  • Eugene

On the crop it is excellent ... .. I have a Tahir 133 white, came from Ukraine, broken, the diaphragm in a heap, either at the customs, the Ukrainians twisted something, or during transportation, in short, a secret covered in darkness, without hesitation, I sent this miracle to Moscow to Sergei Elizarov, Vlt is a master !!!!!!!!!!!!!! God grant him health, not only did he collect this glass in its original form, he also made him infinity, without a lens ... ... I have a thin piece of adapter, without any lens ... ... this is my favorite lens, despite the fact that there are a bunch of Nikonovsky relatives …… When you put it on, how you feel differently… ..Because you could have done it before… ..Even something like pride

    • parab2009@rambler.ru

So, katsape! All winnі khokhli! And in that, having bought an old man, an active, like 40 rocks - do not marvel at this callous viglyad!

    • Bogdan

Hello Eugene. You can tell the coordinates / address of the photo master Sergey Elizarov. I have an approximate problem with Jupiter-9 (white M39). It requires complete disassembly, configuration and high-quality assembly.

      • mAlex

White thin "Jupiter-11" does not require the intervention of a master, probably in 99% of cases. It is as simple as a bowler hat. It spins by rotating the upper and lower parts with a strong grip, after which you will receive a lens unit with a diaphragm and its control ring in one hand, and a helicoid in the other. There will be an adjustment ring between them - it is undesirable to lose it, but it can be replaced, if necessary, with a set of washers cut from a beer can. Then you will see for yourself what to remove and where to turn it, to lubricate the helicoid, disassemble it completely, that is, it is not required to separate the outer and inner parts, you just need to rinse the assembly with gasoline of the "Galosha" type, then lubricate with any grease that does not destroy aluminum. There is also a rangefinder rotation unit in the lens for “Contact”, if the lens works with a digital camera, this unit is simply removed, especially since it is rather difficult to rotate it and it makes focusing very difficult.

  • Rada

Hello. I choose between this lens and the Pentacon 2,8 135 mm. What would you advise? .. I understand that this is subjective, but still.

  • Pauline

Interesting photos with him are obtained ... tell me, is there any point in taking him as a portrait photographer if you already have a Zenith 77M-4?

    • Lynx

Yes. This is another focal and completely different picture.

    • mAlex

"Helios" and "Tair" are completely different in design. "Tair" is more watercolor, or something, and gives an even background, "Helios" - he and 44 "Helios", and 103 "Helios", and 89 "Helios", they are all with "strokes" in more or less swirling around the center frame bokeh, the top of the pyramid - oil "G-40" with twisted bokeh, "G-77" is not far from it.

  • anonym

Generally, Tair-11 and Tair-11A are completely different lenses. Tair-11 is valuable for its residual spherical shape, due to which its design depends little on aperture. Depth of field varies, but drawing does not. It's a great portrait lens, but not a telephoto lens. Tair-11A has been adjusted in a completely different way. This is a sharp high-aperture telephoto lens for landscape and architectural photography of those subjects where 133 mm is needed, but for portraits it is somewhat “not that good”, it has lost its plasticity and softness. So choose by purpose. I am delighted with the 11th, and gave 11A "for the benefit of the poor."

  • Sergei

Tell me, I tried to put this lens through the M39-Sony NEX adapter to the Sony A7, I can’t even focus on the object 15 meters from me.

    • anonym

adapter m39 - for rangefinder optics with a short working distance.
it is necessary to put on the adapter m42 and add the ring m39-m42

  • Sergei

That is, I can not focus on nearby objects, the minimum focusing distance is too far.

  • Sergei

My white Tair produced by KMZ has a thread for a 52 mm light filter.

    • Agasyan

In white Tahir 11, a ring can be screwed at the end, lowering the diameter by 49 mm, so if you remove it, then you can install filters with a diameter of 52 mm. As you can see from the photo, you have already taken off this lowering ring.

  • anonym

Portrait lens tests - no portraits.

  • Athos

Hello. 5500r for tair 11 adequate price? The condition is very good.

    • Alexey

Quite once I only saw for 4500r.

      • anonym

Often problem lenses are sold for minimum price tags, and then the joy of the low price for Tair-11 at 4500 rubles will be lost when testing the lens. Therefore, chasing especially cheap options is risky.

        • Michael

And so the joy will be lost immediately because of the price of manual antiquity. Now they really want a lot for them

  • Sergei

Expensive compared to Jupiter 37A due to the small circulation of KMZ, I will compare it with KOMZ (2-3 times). Optically weaker than the Apo-telezenitar of the same KMZ.

  • Dmitriy

    buy Tair 11 :)

  • Sergei

fuck you need it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! buy poop from asshole for 10 rubles! bought a canon with broken autofocus, the canon 000mm by 85 for 1.8 rubles, screwed it through an adapter to the sony a2000, brought out the line from the diaphragm and bastard from the photo! sharp beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Arkady Shapoval

Everyone can only be happy for you.

    • Denis

      Nonsense))

  • Maria

    Good afternoon.

I read that Tahira was all designed for DSLRs.

In pedovikia, “Tair” is a family of telephoto lenses of increased aperture ratio, which were produced in the USSR for SLR cameras

Do I understand correctly that it’s enough to put the necessary adapters and focus on it (I didn’t really think about infinity).

    Thank you

    • Maria

The question arose on TV, which is not in the reviews. In the reviews, only televisions with M42 threads and adapters, I now have in my hands with the M39.

      • Roman

The M39-M42 ring and the M42 adapter are your system.

Canon may have problems with infinity, and may not be. The difference between M39 and M42 is 0,3 mm along the working distance, if the lens has a small flight, there will be infinity.

On Nikon, infinity will not be exact.

        • Maria

          Thank you.
ON Cannon 5d for some reason with many lenses is lost. Either I'm just focusing through the LP crookedly.
I think, because of the adapter, some mm are lost, which tear with the flange. It's a shame.
It's a bit of a pity to sharpen it under Nikon (I don't know, a contrived tragedy, but nevertheless). True, there is a fake WAVE, very good. sharp and high-quality picture, good lens, even with D90 in combination.

  • frol-aleksan

I took Tair-11 133 for a song in a pretty well-worn condition. The body is corroded, the lens is clearly dug, but more on that later.
Twice had to collect the crumbling diaphragm. The reason, as I understand it, is the insufficient pressure of the ring with the bore holes and the loss of one or more petals. The disease, apparently, is "proprietary" for both Tair-11 and 11A, because there are whole videos on how to disassemble the lens and adjust the diaphragm. The lens was incorrectly assembled - the marks on the rings did not coincide (during the assembly I put them as they should) and the screw that held the front and rear parts of the lens was licked off, which had to be “drilled out” with a screwdriver to be able to disassemble the lens and access the diaphragm assembly that the lens barrel does not unwind without it.
Is the length 0.3 mm shorter? xtv, which is why with the Chinese rings, which are of the same thickness on both M42 and M39, it does not have normal infinity - in the "all the way" position, it is guided to a maximum of ~ 50 meters. When you diaphragm "all the way" to infinity, it almost reaches, but lathers.
Otherwise, the impressions are purely positive.
