Auto mamiya / sekor 1 review: 1,4 f = 55mm

Many thanks to Vladimir Korogodin for the opportunity to review the Auto mamiya / sekor 1: 1,4 f = 55mm lens sent I have a lens from another area.

Review Auto mamiya / sekor 1: 1,4 f = 55mm. Lens on a Canon 350D.

Review Auto mamiya / sekor 1: 1,4 f = 55mm. Lens on Canon 350D.

Auto mamiya / sekor 1: 1,4 f = 55mm is another legendary Japanese lens. Almost 55 mm, its 50 mm focal length is not very noticeable compared to the usual 5 mm. But I see a situation that even the added 1mm focal length plays a role in the price of the lens. Auto mamiya / sekor 1,4: 55 f = XNUMXmm is now quite expensive, not everyone can afford such a luxury, but it's worth it - the lens is very good in all other respects.

Front lens enlightenment

Front lens enlightenment

The lens is well made, the focus ring is metal, like the rest of the lens barrel. The lens is weighty, the diameter of the front filter is 55 mm. When focusing, the front lens does not rotate, the focusing ring moves 270 degrees, the MDF is 45 cm.It's a pity, but the lens has only 6 blackened aperture blades and such a legendary lens gives ordinary nuts in the out-of-focus area (example). The lens has a blinking aperture device and an 'M <-> A' switch to select its mode of operation.

Sample Photos

Sample photos taken with Canon 350D and adapter M42-Canon without chip. On Canon APS-C 1.6X crop EGF The lens is 88mm, the lens can easily take portraits. At F / 1.4, it is very difficult to get into sharpness. The lens itself is sharp and contrasty.

How to use with modern cameras?

Lenses with mounting thread M42 (M42 X 1 / 45.5), such as the lens from this review, are very easy to use on almost any modern digital camera (both SLR and mirrorless), for this it is enough to choose the right adapter (adapter). You do not need to carry out any additional steps to modify the lens.

The cheapest adapters can be found at Aliexpress.com... There are adapters (adapters) with a chip that provide more convenience during shooting, usually chips are used to confirm focus and / or metering exposure, and form the correct EXIF. The chip does not affect the image quality in any way.

For some SLR cameras (for example, with the Nikon F-mount), you need to use adapters with a corrective lens, which allows you to focus correctly at all focusing distances. For any mirrorless cameras, such a lens is not needed, and the adapter is a simple decorated hollow metal tube with an appropriate mount.

Personal experience

For several days in a row I used two lenses with excellent bokeh, Auto mamiya / secor 1: 1,4 f = 55mm and Asahi OPT. CO., SMC Takumar 1: 1.4 / 50 MF, I liked Takumara's drawing more. An attentive reader noticed that one of the three pictures in the header of my blog (the top header that changes) is just Auto mamiya / sekor 1: 1,4 f = 55mm.

Conclusions:

Auto mamiya / sekor 1: 1,4 f = 55mm is a very good Japanese aperture fifty. I want to highlight the excellent build and excellent design of the lens. You can find many similar lenses, for example, Auto Sears 1: 1.4 f = 55mm.

It makes no sense to use M42-Nikon lens adapters with this lens, as well as with other M42 lenses that have aperture greater than f2.0! The lens in the adapter is smaller in diameter than the rear glass of such fast lenses and the resulting image will not be sharp!
