For the opportunity to write review of the lens I-61L / D 2,8 / 55 Many thanks to Oleg Dragging, who sent I have a lens from another area.

Industar-61 LD lens overview

И-61 is short for Иndustar-61. Modifications of the Industar-61 lens exist simply countless. Basically, lenses differ in the working distance (rangefinder and mirror lenses), the manufacturer, the frame of the body, lens enlightenment, aperture device and even different focal lengths in the names of Inudstar-61 lenses. You can find that I-61 has 50, 52, 53 and 55 mm focal length. Most likely these are subtleties of designation of Soviet lenses, and not real differences in focal length. All lenses in the base have the same optical design.

The lens from this review, I-61L / D 2,8 / 55, is a modification for mirrorless rangefinder cameras, produced at the Kharkov machine-building plant 'FED'. Since this is a rangefinder version of the lens, its use on modern SLR cameras will make it possible to obtain only macro shots, in more detail here. For normal operation of the lens on SLR cameras, you need to look for the lens I-61 L/Z (mirror)for example, like this Industar-61 LZ MS 50mm F2.8

Focus ring rotates 180 degrees. The minimum focusing distance is 1 meter. The focusing ring is very close to the back of the lens, so focusing is not very convenient. The aperture control ring is in front of the lens, the lens does not have a preset aperture ring. You can only set the values F / 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16. The number of aperture blades - 6 pieces, they have the correct shape, in contrast to Industar-61 LZ. The lens has a depth of field scale and focusing distance.

The lens itself is made of metal and glass, very small and compact, outwardly similar to its older brothers I-26m 2,8 / 52 и Industar-26m 1: 2.8 F = 5cm P. Landing thread M39, front filter diameter 42mm, weighs such a crumb 140 g

How to use Soviet old M39 lenses on modern Nikon cameras read here, and on Canon here. I used I-61L / D 2,8 / 55 on the camera Nikon D700 using the adapter ring M39-M42 and adapter M42-Nikon. Due to the fact that this is a rangefinder lens, it is possible to obtain only macro photographs on a reflex camera. Look at the examples of how sharp the lens is, even at F / 2.8.

How to use with modern cameras?

Lenses with an M39 thread (for rangefinder cameras, M39 X 1/28.8), such as the lens from this review, are very easy to use on almost any modern digital camera (both SLR and mirrorless), for this you just need to choose the right adapter (adapter). There is no need to carry out any additional actions to remake the lens. The cheapest adapters can be found at Aliexpress.com.

For mirrorless cameras

  1. SONY: For cameras with 'E'/'FE' mount series SonyNEX и Sony Alpha need here is an adapter M39 -Sony E (aka L39 -Sony Nex).
  2. OLYMPUS / PANASONIC / KODAK / XIAOMI: For cameras with a bayonet mount Micro 4/3 (Micro 4:3) need here is an adapter M39-Micro 4/3.
  3. CANON M: For cameras with Canon EF-M mount need here is such an adapter M39-Canon M.
  4. CANON R and RF-S: For cameras with Canon RF mount need here is such an adapter M39-Canon R.
  5. Nikon 1: For cameras Nikon 1 Series need here is such an adapter M39-Nikon 1.
  6. Nikon Z: For cameras Nikon Z series (FX/DX) needed here is such an adapter M39-Nikon Z.
  7. FUJIFILM X: For cameras with mount X need here is such an adapter M39-Fuji X.
  8. FUJIFILM GFX: For medium format cameras G-mount need here is such an adapter M39-Fuji GFX.
  9. SAMSUNG: NX mount cameras require here is an adapter M39-Samsung NX. There are no adapters for the NX mini camera yet.
  10. SIGMA / PANASONIC / LEICA: For cameras with L mount need here is such an adapter M39-Leica L.
  11. LEICA: For cameras with a bayonet mount Leica M need here is an adapter M39-L / M.

It's important: for SLR cameras, only macro mode is possible (can only shoot at very close focusing distances).

For SLR cameras (macro mode only)

  1. Canon: For cameras Canon EOS with bayonet mount EF / EF-S need here is an adapter M39 -Canon EOS.
  2. NIKON: For cameras Nikon DX / FXas well as for cameras Fujifilm и Kodak with Nikon F mount needed here is such an adapter M39 -Nikon F (some cameras will only work in M-mode).
  3. PENTAX: For Pentax K-mount cameras, you need here is such an adapter M39 -Pentax K.
  4. SONY/MINOLTA: For cameras with a Sony/Minolta A mount, you need here is an adapter M39 -Sony A.
  5. OLYMPUS/PANASONIC/LEICA: For cameras with 4/3 mount (not to be confused with Micro 4/3!) here is an adapter M39 -4/3.

Conclusions

I-61L / D 2,8 / 55 is a pleasant rangefinder lens. I recommend I-61L / D as a cheap macro lens. For macro, automatic focusing is not particularly important, and the quality of the images taken with the I-61L / D 2,8 / 55 is still at its best.

Just yesterday I bought the same one with a FED camera for 70 UAH. The lens is brand new. Today I went to take pictures with him. The sharpness is amazing! True, I covered the aperture right up to 11. The only drawback, not even the lens, but rather the principle of macro photography, is a very small depth of field. It's hard to bring an object into focus ...

  • Sergei

Arkady, what was the approximate distance between the lens and the bee?

  • Gregory

The same house at FED 5 C, in perfect condition. Somehow I get to him :) a great review. Thanks.

  • Oleg Volochay

Dyakuyu Arkadiy for a wonderful review!
for a long time I wanted to pachiti show on the main frame an old object
    ps I’ll correctly drag it)

  • Eugene

So, I completely shot a photo shoot on him: http://varganshik.livejournal.com/1628498.html

I don’t know why you say that only macro can be shot on it! I really liked him! The picture is nice!

I claim only that on SLR cameras the rangefinder version of the I-61 lens will only work in macro mode, in more detail here https://radojuva.com.ua/2012/10/dalnomernaya-optica-na-slr/. On Sony NEX type mirrorless mirrors, the lens can be used as shown in your examples. There are also mirror versions of the I-61 lens, which will normally (with some reservations) work on SLR cameras. About all this is written in the article, just read it carefully.

  • anonym

Eugene, most likely you have a copied copy.

  • Pasha

I use the same for macro photography, happy as an elephant. and if you screw two sets of macro rings to it, then it turns out that the macro is almost 2: 1, but without a tripod it is very difficult to get into focus.

  • Nicholas

Thanks for the review! There is just such a lens, we will test)

  • Gennady

Is it true that Indusar 61ld is sharper than Industar 61lz.

    • Dmitriy

according to passport data, the rangefinder version has a higher resolution than the specular, but in practical shooting the difference is not felt. perhaps the optical qualities of my LD-shnik were affected by the alteration of the frame.

  • yuriy75

By the way, I often met M39-EOS adapters, it will allow us to put the lens a little deeper on the camera.

    • Konstantin

And will this significantly change anything?

  • Artyom

    Thanks for the article, Arkady!

The special chic of this lens is that even with macro rings you can use the built-in flash without obscuring the subject =)

  • Vladimir

A good promise to beginner hardcore.
slightly overtaken, I make a similar modification only with a working focus ring (just like in my own, I had to prettyly shred my own helicoid) it turns out exactly, I hope it will finish the other day. Surprisingly tenacious lens, much can be done with it.

  • Alexey

Yesterday I unscrewed the same one from my father's FED, I already wanted to order adapters for Nikon - but it's a bummer: all the lenses are in mold. The habit of storing unnecessary things in the basement has done its job (((In any case, thanks for the interesting site, inspiration and prosperity to you, Arkady.

  • Ksenia

Hello. And this lens is suitable for Nikon D7000 ??

    • anonym

      Need two adapters

  • Maksim

Unscrewed from his father's FED http://sdrv.ms/199MdOM

  • Alexander

Please tell me, what kind of adapter is needed for Nikon D3100?

    • Igor Fursov

      Need 2 adapters: Nikon-M42, and 39-42.

      • Edward

There is on Ali and a purely m39-Nikon F, it costs $ 4

  • Igor Fursov

Today I bought the appropriate adapters. the lens was from the FED-5s camera. Just AWESOME macro!
did not expect this! I didn’t even immediately understand how he focuses, where is the focus!
Arkady, thanks for the article, if not for her, I would never have guessed to put this lens on the Nikon D90. Super macro. I'll go outside to test soon.

  • Sergei

Igor, why two adapters? There are M39-Nikon adapters, for example from Quenox, I myself use this.

  • Jury

I-61 on FED is good for unhurried macro shooting. No matter how funny it is, it is already sharp on hole 4. the former owner did not scratch the front lens - the frame is unsuccessful)

  • Zhenya

I have olympus pen e-pl3, could you tell me which adapter I need for it? And then today in feeds there was a fad with an industrial, I would really like to experience

  • Anton

Here I sit and think, the ring (adapter m39 to m42 adapter) is still on its way from China. And then the opportunity to take this lens in perfect condition. The difference from the lens in the review is that it says in full “Industar 61-L / D”, but everything is the same. The question is to take or not? My camera is a Canon system with a cropped matrix.

  • Oleg

Will the Nikon D 5200 fit?

    • Alexander Trekhsotkovich

      Yes

  • bob

    suitable for crop?

    • Alexander Trekhsotkovich

      Immerse yourself in the world of macro photography with Industar-61L / D 2.8 / 55 !!!
      Great lens!
      Gorgeous boke!
There are no HA at all !!!
      No flare.
The sharpness is ringing already from 2.8 but for greater depth of field it is necessary to cover the aperture.
      Awesome macro for a penny!
The lens is a bomb. I recommend to everyone.
I have a D300s on my carcass and I set “parameters for a lens without a CPU” in the menu, after which “matrix” exposure metering began to work for me.

Arkady, I don't know how the readers read the reviews, although they say that they are careful, but - the review was written more than a year ago and no one noticed the mistake (and this despite the fact that many people read the blog and take the information that is given here seriously) -
“Front filter diameter 42mm” is not the case:
    Connecting sizes for nozzles:

    smooth - 42 mm;
    threaded (light filters) - M40,5 × 0,5 mm.
I was convinced of this by buying this one for a flea market together with a yellow filter, by the way, it is used on nikon 1 J1, from which all light filters and lens caps fit like Helios-103, Jupiter-8m (homemade adapter), and now also I -61 L / D 2,8 / 55. So - the diameter of the front filter is 40,5mm.

I have I-61 L / D and I-26m. I need to give one of them. Please tell me which is better? What is worth leaving for a sprinkled nikon?

    • anonym

for the cropped Nikon - none. Exchange them (especially I-26) from the Nexists for something suitable for Nikon. For example, Arsat-N 50 \ 2.
