Well, to understand this - you need to have this and that. At the fix, the picture is a little (or not a little) of better quality, interesting, the stock in the aperture is 1-2 stops - here's the shutter speed 2-4 times shorter, the zoom, of course, very good. it is convenient for choosing focal points, you don't have to run (if you still have somewhere), but the picture is without frills and a bit dark. A fast f / 2,8 zoom somewhat smoothes the problem, but for extra. money. Example: a friend took d5200 + 35 / 1,8G and complains about the lens, took it, checked it at d40x and 5100 is normal, gave him 18-105 for a test, I want it, he says. Gave him 18-55. He shoots, I don't know which one more often, but he wants 18-140 or 18-105. And I took the 35th for myself, finally, from my hands. People, also requirements, vision are different.

      No Native unit from Nikon
But there are a bunch of compatible ones from other manufacturers.
I had one for the D5300, it also works with the younger D5x00, and I tried it with the D3200, but it looks like a non-native on it ...

The second point - there are no compatible battery packs powered by AA (if you dream, then from 18650!;))
The elders have, but D5x00 does not ((

I did not quite understand the idea. In my opinion, a pen is needed for convenience in the first place, and only then to increase the battery capacity. In your case, it would be cheaper to buy an extra battery and charge it at home, rather than carrying a bank and a charger with you. With my acb, the pen capacity will be 10 max, that is, about 10 times more than a regular battery. With other battery capacity can be larger. In any case, you decide.

Hello. There is a suspicion that the camera began to live its own life. Here he is, turned off, on the table. So I take it in my hands and just start twirling it in my hands. The camera starts blinking with the recording diode on the memory card. I put it on the table, blinks again and then dies down. I didn’t notice this before, I carried it in my bag, but today I was hanging around my neck on a single day and noticed that he regularly winks at me. How to deal with this? I started with the D5200 - and that's what I can say for sure. It has a different matrix in contrast to the D7100. After three years of sitting on the 7100, I still could not get the color 5200. In addition, the 7100 is much noisier, dirty noise climbs on min ISO, the camera's drawing is hard, dry, reportage (even on exotic high-aperture optics). The 5200 has lively colors and richer shades even on the whale 18-55. the drawing is soft, ISO working up to 3200 (for 7100 already 640-1000 on a cloudy day looks terrifying. I think to change to 7200 - they say she has a different matrix than in 7100 - but is it so? Specialists advise - what to take a new 7200 or a used 600 or 800?

No, as far as we know, the 5200 and the 7100 should have one matrix - Toshiba, and the D7200 - another (from Sonya)
But I, too (like the author) doubt very much that the 7100 has a matrix from Toshiba (you cannot confuse it with anything). And the colors of 7200 differ from the 7100 in all examples and the review cardinally - this can be seen (and, by the way, it really looks a little closer to 5200 in the pictures)

      Well said.
It's just that my language is removed. (I didn’t read this branch before, or didn’t see anything)
I own both cameras (D5200 and D7100) and subscribe to every word.
Despite assurances that a matrix from D7100 went to D5200 - I can't believe it.
      Completely different pictures. Absolutely.
At the same time, the picture on the D5200 is really much cleaner (the noise on the D7100 is much stronger and appear much earlier). The depth and hue of the color in the D5200 is generally incomparable with anything and in the D7100 an ordinary dry picture.
I also stare at the D7200 - I think to take it in the hope that the colors and quality there will still be much closer to the D5200

This will turn out like this with 35, and if you come closer (chest, front) it will already be bad. With 50, you will have to move a little further from the model. In general, the whale you have with the focal one can figure it out yourself. I took 50 myself - it's not ice with it in the room, but for people it is more functional. And look at the reviews 35 and 50 from Arkady, he will not be offended

In mode A, the compensation changes exposure due to a change in shutter speed, in mode S - due to a change in aperture, and in mode P - all together. In M mode, the correction works by changing the ISO - if Auto ISO is selected on the camera. If Auto ISO is off, exposure compensation will simply not work. At the same time, you can change the values of the exposure compensation, but the exposure itself does not change.
Try to figure it out; it's not at all difficult.

3,5-5,6 is not a range of aperture change, but aperture values for the minimum and maximum focal length, respectively, for a focal length of 18 there will be a minimum value of 3,5 (maximum opening and maximum luminous flux + minimum depth of field of depth of field), and for 105 - 5,6.
Accordingly, 32 is the maximum aperture value (minimum opening and luminous flux) determined by the lens design. As far as I know, it is not written on the lenses and is of little use in practice due to the phenomenon of diffraction, which “eats up” sharpness at such values.

    My review with Club photo.ru

    1) Color! Impeccable balance and shades
    2) Absolutely accurate and correct BB
    3) Reliability, build quality
    4) Compact, swivel screen (for everybody)
    5) Long battery life
    6) General equipment features for the money, autofocus.
    7) Very low noise for 24mp crop. By this parameter it sets 7100 and 7000
    Weaknesses: 1) No screwdriver
    2) Very easily scratched case, if not black. I had a red one. It was possible to make a colorful rough reliable plastic
    3) The viewfinder is inferior + dirt, hair and dust get inside even with extremely careful use.
    4) Loud, clanging, nasty, cheap shutter sound
    5) Bad video and especially the built-in microphone
    6) No focus adjustment
    Used analogues: 7100
Comment: The Toshiba matrix was placed only on 5200 and 7100. This matrix gives the cleanest, correct, beautiful and accurate color of all CMOS crop combined. From this camera, he began to master the basics of mirror photography, entered the world of creativity. In less than half a year I replaced it with the D7100. Then after 3 years on 7100 I switched to D800 and now I am nostalgic for the 5200 impeccable chic color! I can’t get it in full frame! Compared to 7100, it is sharper, sharper, faster, but the matrix is much noisier. The D5200 has a working ISO even without resizing up to 1600, with resizing and noise reduction 3200 looks good. At 7100, the picture is falling apart from grain and pixel dirt already at 800-1000. After switching to FF, I will take 5200 case again.

The BB for both is very accurate - but the color is different. 5200 draws softer and warmer, somehow vital. After these cameras, the D800 is just a fierce nightmare with flowers - probably I’ll climb to the crop again ..

And in the instructions in the figure there are 39 of them. Should I see them all 39 or one central ???. Is something wrong with the highlighting of the dots, or is it the way it should be? When focusing in a car, a few are displayed, depending on the number of objects that fell into the viewfinder. The camera focuses, while clearly on all modes. Until I opened the instructions, there were no questions. Please consult.

In the Nikon D5100, when shooting a video, autofocus clicks were not recorded, with the same settings. When autofocus is turned off, sound is recorded normally, but it is inconvenient to manually adjust the focus all the time when the subject is moving. What is it, a defect in my camera, or a lack of a model?

Hello Arkady! judging by the number of comments, 5200 is very successful!
So I bought it. I started comparing with 5100, with one lens. Pros: Significantly better detail, more precisely white balance, especially for video, in low light (does not go into yellowness, like 5100). If the photo can be corrected during processing, then the video is already finished. a slightly different color profile, I find it difficult to determine which one is prettier? but differ. There were enough focus points at 5100, but the minus is about twice or three times the battery drain faster (I used the same one). The most incomprehensible thing, and nowhere in the internet, which is not encountered when comparing these two "fellows", is that under absolutely identical shooting conditions (lens, distance, exposure), despite the fact that they have the same physical matrix sizes, the same working segments , the D5100 frame contains more of the subject, according to my estimates, about 8-9%, that is, the picture from the 5200 looks slightly cropped. For example, photographing a tape measure, in frame 5100 we see exactly 100 cm, and in frame 5200 - only 92 cm! this fact already contributes to a deceptive improvement in detail, even if the matrices are the same in resolution! It remains a mystery - why such an effect, if the lens gives exactly the same projection onto the matrix? it turns out that the image in the 5200 is sprinkled at the hardware level (as in the video mode in some other models). Without this crop, the detail in 5200 could have been even higher!

The video missed a couple of important points.
Quote “It's convenient to shoot video in manual mode with Auto ISO turned on. Attention: during video recording, you cannot change the aperture value at which the video will be shot. "
Auto ISO and video are two incompatible things. Autoiso is good for preliminary “measurement” with subsequent fixation by AE-Lock. Bo imagine. In a medium-lit scene, a person appears with a lantern at an angle directed to the floor or almost into the camera, or just the cloud has gone.
The same goes for autofocus when shooting video. Departure of focus and hello, plan in the trash. And if this is a report, well, generally understandable.
And the aperture is there too, unless you have the ND variable set.
But what's important, the D5200 has pure HDMI without an overlay. That is, you can safely write to the recorder without troubles with hack firmware, as is the case with the D5100.
And the sound…. only for subsequent synchronization.
