Overview of Industar-50 3,5 / 50

Industar-50 3,5 / 50 is a popular lens for Soviet rangefinder cameras. The lens is like two peas in a pod Industar-50 1: 3,5 F = 5cm P... The Industar-50 3,5 / 50 lens itself is very light, small and compact. The focusing ring rotates 180 degrees, the minimum focusing distance is 1 meter, when focusing, the front lens rotates, and the lens trunk is lengthened by 1 cm. The number of diaphragm blades - 7 pieces, the diaphragm changes smoothly, without fixed values. The lens has an M39 mounting thread. On the lens you can find the focusing distance scale and depth of field scale.

Comments: 50, on the topic: Overview of Industar-50 3,5 / 50

  • Lynx

In fact, the long-focus Industar-50 3,5 / 50 is still the same good old Industar-50-2 (https://radojuva.com.ua/2011/05/obzor-industar-50-2-otzuvu/) only ... in a white case, with an M39 landing thread and with two standard factory extension nozzles.
the first, as can be seen in the photo - the blackened inner one serves only as a "remover of internal glare", is fixed on a fine thread and, in most cases, is unscrewed from the lens without interference (note that the thread is opposite there - you need to twist it clockwise)
the second is external, part from the landing plane with a notch to the second border with a notch.
It is somewhat more difficult with it - it also sits on the thread and is secured with an additional countersunk head screw.
Ideally, this screw is unscrewed and this extension ring is carefully twisted.
But, for example, on the specimen that came across to me, the lens sat on this thread very tightly and had to be cut with a hacksaw + a bit to drill with a drill (so as not to spoil the lens ring itself) and break a bit with pliers.
    ...
But, thanks to this, we got a cut-away photo.
    Time:http://cs410720.vk.me/v410720987/7210/V6YXQYvE3Y8.jpg photo with "internal extension"
and two http://cs410720.vk.me/v410720987/721a/wBHN-ZJZxms.jpg the thread and the usual industrial are clearly visible in the usual, albeit light, form.
    ....

We add an adapter М39-М42 + М42-nikon and we have a fully functional classic Industar-50-2, in a white frame. He can also “make infinity on nikon” (with a lensless adapter) in several ways, both are easily googled, and the simplest one does not require tools at all except a screwdriver, you just have to be careful in use, otherwise you can accidentally disassemble it again).
If you got a copy like me - with a jammed thread, for a start, do not be too lazy to look for a "disassembly diagram", remove the covers, stoppers from it, unscrew the helicoid from the part "ring with an internal thread of the helicoid + extension", and only then start sawing the extension ring being careful not to damage the threads.
And after that, after washing the “freed ring” from dust and sawdust, collect the lens back.

    • Ilyas

Lynx, but can you post photos from the alteration?))

    • anonym

Lord, what is there to saw? As a rule, there are two adjustment rings under the I-50 lens unit. Remove the additional extension 16,4 mm (there, loosen one screw and unscrew the lens from the extension), then unscrew the pusher of the rangefinder - that black tube - there is a left-hand thread! - sometimes you need to make a good effort. Everything. Now look at the lens from behind. There is such a big ring with two holes in which the locking screws are screwed in. Gently unscrew the locking screws, then at least use scissors to unscrew this locking ring. The lens block with adjusting rings falls out. You can discard these rings altogether and assemble the lens without them. And if it is possible to measure them, then you can choose so that it is closer to the desired RO. Well, it will turn out with a run over infinity, you have something to do with this, you still focus with your hands, so shoot. No turning work is needed there.

      • Nicholas

I suspect that this is about trimming the rangefinder version. The I-50 with the m39 was both a SLR and a rangefinder.

      • Nicholas

Yes, I read it - for sure. “Internal glare remover” is a pusher of the rangefinder drive ... :)

    • Victoria

I understand so, if I have an adapter with a thread of 42 m, then can I put this lens?

    • Fedor

Your comment was very timely seen by me. Just picked up Industar-50 and took off these two rings. Now this is not a macro lens! Thanks! (Now Jupiter -8 must be seen))

      • Rodion

Jupiter does not stand in the mirror in any way, a limitation of the lens unit itself.

  • Sanya

    good evening
I encountered a problem when cleaning this lens, when reassembling, I can’t screw the extension ring onto the focal ring, it just clicks when rotating, is there any trick or just needs more effort?

    • Lynx

there is a very fine thread, so it is better to clean the threads, lubricate, and check for "kinks" that may need to be straightened.

    • Lynx

oh, yes, and read the comment above - there is a mirror thread, maybe just twist in the wrong direction

  • Andrey

Yes, Industar-50 3,5 / 50 has turned into Industar-50-2. He unscrewed the outer ring by loosening the countersunk screw, and unscrewed the inner ring counterclockwise. all without effort, lens number 7322799

on the DSLR will remain mfr = 1 meter?

  • a lion

Arkady, I need your advice. There is an Industar-50 3,5 / 50 No. 68 lens ... mounted on a Zenit-S SLR camera. Does this mean that the version of the lens is also specular, and not rangefinder (analogy with Industar 61 and MS Industar-61 L / Z)?

http://www.photohistory.ru/1207248188712843.html It says that there was a lens option for SLR cameras.

    Thank you!

  • Catherine

There is this lens. Will I be able to use it on the Nikon d5100? If so, which adapter do you need to purchase? Thanks a lot in advance!

    • anonym

Can. Through two adapters. One - M42-on-Nikon, the other - M39-on-M42 (ring). But you have to remove the adjustment rings to focus at infinity (see above).

      • anonym

        And why not only m39-nikon?

  • Sergey

Hello, do not tell me how to unscrew them to infinity with which adapter ring for Nikon D3200?

    • Lynx

      at least read some comments.

  • anonym

Tell me please, but can I use one adapter-m39-nikon?

    • Lynx

      Yes

    • Lynx

      only such as not

  • Fedor

Actually, why does no one write that after detaching the extension rings, the lens has an M-42 mounting thread? This is very important, otherwise I almost didn't buy an adapter for the M-39, which costs like the lens itself ...

    • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

      Explain.
The lens for use on a Canon DSLR. How to determine if the lens is rangefinder or M39? Lushnikov's adapter, M39-M42 ring is there, is that all or something else will you need? Will there be infinity?

  • Andrei

It is possible to purchase for a “symbolic” price.
Do I understand correctly that after “cutting” I can make friends with Canon 600D without an adapter?

    • BB

Only in macro mode, as Arkady wrote.

      • Fedor

Why do people love to complicate things so much?
Especially for you, I will write the process of remaking Industar-50 into Industar-50-2:
        1. Find and unscrew the locking screw in the lens housing (there is only one);
        2. Unscrew the extension ring;
        3. Unscrew the anti-glare tube counterclockwise.
Everything! We have the usual “Industar-50-2” with the M-42 landing thread, which can be easily installed on the Canon EOS 600d using the “M42-Canon EOS” adapter!
PS: however, I have an Industar-50 in a black frame, so it is possible that the lens from this review will have a mounting thread of the lens itself (not the extension ring, but the lens itself) will be “M-39”.

        • Andrei

So don’t twist it, but you need an M42 adapter. And I already believed in happiness :)

  • anonym

Good day. Tell me please, where is the screw in the anti-reflective tube?

  • Artem

You read the comments and wink with terms like "anti-glare tube", an extension ring, etc. - teachers materiel! Without going into particular details - there are several different variants of the I-50
    - White rangefinder thread М39 (cameras like Zorkiy 2C, Zorkiy 5, Zorkiy 6) I have come across a lens in 2 versions: which can be converted to Mirror and not ... Outwardly, they have a difference in the place where the serial number is written
    - White mirror thread M39 (Cameras such as Zenith C, Zenith 3, Zenith 3M, etc.)
    - Black rangefinder (aka Industar 50-2) M39 thread (Zorky 4K cameras) - converted to mirror by unscrewing one screw, lower rim and rangefinder pusher - after conversion it has M42 thread - it essentially becomes
    - black Mirror Industar 50-2 - M42 thread (Cameras such as Zenit E, Zenit ET, etc.)

    • Alain

Hello! Tell me, please, the Industrial 50 (silver-colored) lens on Sony Alpha A6000 through an adapter is suitable. Of course, it’s for sale (see photo). I'm not sure that this version will work on my camera without any modifications. Help advice please! Thank you in advance.

    • anonym

You have forgotten also about the tube "Industar - 50". They were produced at KMZ and LZOS. The I-50 was also produced at KOMZ. the first serial "Industars-50" left the assembly line back in 1953, even under Stalin. Prototypes of these Industars showed a resolution of 120 lines.

    • Lavr kosnik

Artem, do you know anything about Industar-50M? Have you met this one? What a modification is not known .. Nowhere and I can not find anything about it. Lensoblock, 1969 But what kind of “M”? .. What is a PRKK, according to the position of which it was made by someone unknown (no logo in the usual place, no information about the manufacturer in the passport of this lens unit.) The number is alphanumeric, does not start with the symbol “N”, and with the letter "U617 ..."? Put it in a white M39. Cutting. But I wonder what kind of object.

  • Alain

Sorry, apparently the photo was not loaded, so the question is not correct. In the variant offered to me, the silver Industar-50 50mm f3.5 for DSLR M42. Year of release 63, kmz. I understand that most likely his lower part with an extension ring was twisted. As for the alteration to infinity, I'm not sure without checking, but the seller says that it works on his Sony A65 ... I would be grateful for your opinion, thanks.

    • anonym

“Industar-50” rangefinder and mirror can be distinguished by MDF (Minimum Focusing Distance). The rangefinder will have MDF = 1 meter, while the mirror MDF will have 0,65 cm. (If the Industar-50 was a rangefinder, but the ring was unscrewed from the bottom, then the MDF marks will indicate with 100% accuracy what the lens was originally.)

  • Lennaganci

Ahhh, good people, help who knows !! There is a rangefinder Zorkiy 4k, I want to buy such a pancake for him. They are for DSLRs with a working distance of about 44 mm and for rangefinders with a shutter speed of about 28 mm. Attention question !! What are the range finders with the appropriate segment, are there 50-2 among those?

  • Love

there is such a lens, I can sell .. a letter from you ... can be sent

  • Lavr kosnik

Comrades .. Help please with information about the lens. I got a new lens block Industar-50M. 1969 With red caps. With a passport, in a tube. I put it in the frame of the 50th white M39: the diameter of the aperture ring is 33.5mm. The point on the diaphragm ring is missing by design. The lens is good. But why there is no information about this modification at all? .. According to the passport - “Made according to the regulation for PRKK”. What is PRKK ?. I did not find. The manufacturer's logo in the usual place of the diaphragm ring is absent. There is not a word about the manufacturer in the passport either. The number is alphanumeric, "U617 ...", and instead of the symbol "N" (number) - the letter "U", but somehow disproportionate: in writing - the stick at the letter is longer than a round one. Maybe someone knows what about this modification? .. Thank you in advance.

    • Rodion

      Make a review)

    • Anonymous

      > “Made according to the regulation for PRKK”. What is PRKK?
Space Complex Development Program. The position of 1969, which determined the features of the creation and serial production of space complexes in the USSR, including manned ones.

      > instead of the symbol "N" (number) - the letter "U", but some kind of disproportionate
Most likely a marriage. On copies that come across there "No."

Television cameras were equipped with a lens. Initially - reporting cameras KR-71 from the "Krechet" complex, flying on Soyuz-7K-OK. Later - surveillance and industrial control cameras made on their basis, such as KTP-82.

  • Eugene

Today I bought this pancake on Nikon D80, but .. as it turned out to be a rangefinder)) Thanks to Radozhiva and commentators, I remade it for M42. Respect to all those who wrote about it !!! The only thing, I was not entirely lucky with the thread after unscrewing the extension cord, it turned out to be M39, But this is a trifle))
I tested Industar without an adapter (holding it in my hands), the first impressions are very pleasant! Comparing with Nikkor 50 / 1.8 is stupid, but I can say that the pancake is not bad at all in terms of sharpness and color, it twists the bokeh. The size and weight are miniature, as if you are holding one carcass in your hands)) A very nice glass.

  • Eugene

Example photo on Industar-50. I hope Arkady will not swear for a link to Google disk, because in the subject, as I understand it, more than one photo cannot be uploaded. Photos are shown in Nx-i with resize up to 3000px on the long side. The first two macro shot before reworking under m42, just leaned the lens against the camera. The rest are also taken off hand. first test, m42 rings yet.

    • Arkady Shapoval

thank you, for useful links I never swear, and even for not very useful ones have nothing against

  • Eugene

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1puu4YnBTKJCSqbUNfEeakrAZouGdFtml (industrial-50 photo)

  • Eugene

Since Arkady gave the go-ahead :) I will send fresh photos to Industar-50 and Nikon D80 in the first field trials.

  • Eugene

Sori, in the first message the photo did not load, because It turned out to be slightly more than allowed 2MB.

  • Eugene

Unfortunately, my Industar converted from M39 has mdf only 1m. Such a "macro" :)
I forgot to add earlier that the photos are shown in the lightroom and reduced to 2000pcs. on the long side.

  • Eugene

The sharpness of the lens is quite decent, if it's good to get there. Also, I wildly like how this glass transmits air in the frame. For example, my Nikkor 50 / 1.8 cannot do this .. It’s hard to explain, but I’m sure it’s not a glitch for me, because I can compare.

  • Eugene

An example of how this pancake twirls bokeh :) And by the way, the color and micro contrast of Industar are not very bad, despite the lack of multi-enlightenment. And they can throw tomatoes at me, but I like the color more than the original Nikkor 50 / 1.8 .. no extraneous shades, it gives a clear color. Honestly, this lens was very unexpected for me, although I had known about its existence for a long time.
