For provided Industar-26m 1: 2.8 F = 5cm L lens Many thanks to Igor Tihan.
This is a lens from a rangefinder camera with a focal length of 28,8mm. The lens logo shows that the lens was manufactured at the Kharkov machine-building plant FED (Kharkov, Ukraine). The letter 'm' in the name Industar-26м says it Мupgraded lens Industar-26. If you know the significant differences between the I-26, I-26m, add it in the comments at the end of this article. You can see how the modification looks I-26m 2,8 / 52.
Given that the first two digits of Soviet lenses usually mean the year of manufacture, then my copy is 1953, and in 2013 it turned 60 already. Nevertheless, the lens is fully operational, the focus and aperture rings work correctly, it is only a pity that the metal was covered with a black coating that I could not clean off.
The lens has enlightened optics, the red letter 'P' says about this in the name. Despite the fact that the lenses are coated, the lens is not friendly with backlighting. You can read a lot of reviews about Industar-26m here.
A distinctive feature of the lens is 10 blade aperture. The circles in the bokeh are quite even at all aperture values, this is a very pleasant trifle.
Focusing on the lens is smooth. The focus ring rotates 180 degrees. The minimum focusing distance is 1 meter. The lens has a scale for depth of field and focus distance. When focusing, the front lens does not rotate, and the trunk of the lens lengthens by about half a centimeter. The focus ring is uncomfortable, located near the lens mount to the camera.
The diaphragm is manually controlled using a special aperture ring. The aperture is adjustable smoothly, without clicks, you can set any value from F / 2.8-F / 22. The diameter of the front filter is very small, only 40mm. And the lens itself weighs about 100 grams.

In the general case, rangefinder lenses on SLR cameras work only in macro mode, in more detail here. On Canon 350D I installed the lens using two adapters: M39-M42 + M42-Canon EOS. How to use Soviet old M39 lenses on modern Nikon cameras read here, and on Canon here.
and Nikon D40:
Scratches, potholes and other dirt in the photo with an example of bokeh are not problems of the dirty matrix of my camera - these are bubbles, scratches, chips and floated coating on the rear lens of the lens. The same goes for my other reviews as well.
How to use with modern cameras?
Lenses with an M39 thread (for rangefinder cameras, M39 X 1/28.8), such as the lens from this review, are very easy to use on almost any modern digital camera (both SLR and mirrorless), for this you just need to choose the right adapter (adapter). There is no need to carry out any additional actions to remake the lens. The cheapest adapters can be found at Aliexpress.com.
For mirrorless cameras
- SONY: For cameras with 'E'/'FE' mount series SonyNEX и Sony Alpha need here is an adapter M39 -Sony E (aka L39 -Sony Nex).
- OLYMPUS / PANASONIC / KODAK / XIAOMI: For cameras with a bayonet mount Micro 4/3 (Micro 4:3) need here is an adapter M39-Micro 4/3.
- CANON M: For cameras with Canon EF-M mount need here is such an adapter M39-Canon M.
- CANON R and RF-S: For cameras with Canon RF mount need here is such an adapter M39-Canon R.
- Nikon 1: For cameras Nikon 1 Series need here is such an adapter M39-Nikon 1.
- Nikon Z: For cameras Nikon Z series (FX/DX) needed here is such an adapter M39-Nikon Z.
- FUJIFILM X: For cameras with mount X need here is such an adapter M39-Fuji X.
- FUJIFILM GFX: For medium format cameras G-mount need here is such an adapter M39-Fuji GFX.
- SAMSUNG: NX mount cameras require here is an adapter M39-Samsung NX. There are no adapters for the NX mini camera yet.
- SIGMA / PANASONIC / LEICA: For cameras with L mount need here is such an adapter M39-Leica L.
- LEICA: For cameras with a bayonet mount Leica M need here is an adapter M39-L / M.
It's important: for SLR cameras, only macro mode is possible (can only shoot at very close focusing distances).
For SLR cameras (macro mode only)
- Canon: For cameras Canon EOS with bayonet mount EF / EF-S need here is an adapter M39 -Canon EOS.
- NIKON: For cameras Nikon DX / FXas well as for cameras Fujifilm и Kodak with Nikon F mount needed here is such an adapter M39 -Nikon F (some cameras will only work in M-mode).
- PENTAX: For Pentax K-mount cameras, you need here is such an adapter M39 -Pentax K.
- SONY/MINOLTA: For cameras with a Sony/Minolta A mount, you need here is an adapter M39 -Sony A.
- OLYMPUS/PANASONIC/LEICA: For cameras with 4/3 mount (not to be confused with Micro 4/3!) here is an adapter M39 -4/3.
Conclusions:
Now you can find a lot of old lenses from rangefinder cameras of the 'Industar' brand. Such lenses are sold for a penny (5 rubles per bucket :)). This lens can be used on SLR cameras as a budget macro lens. On mirrorless cameras, this tiny lens can still serve as a good lens for creativity, as it has a good combination of aperture and focal length and a good sharp picture. The white metal frame of the lens barrel looks interesting on modern digital cameras :)

I have an I-26m with serial number 240318. This is strange, he is either 24 years old or 18. On FED-2 serial number 452002. Not all of the 60s it turns out to be.
It differs from all Industar lenses in that the two-lens component is directed towards the subject, and not towards the film
Lol, no.
DanunaFF. This is not an I-73, it has everything like any Tessar.
And if the number is 060615? What year is it then?
In these Industries, the serial does not have a year of release
I got it for nothing, but in a terrible state, greasy, assembled somehow, but the lenses are in decent condition. Disassembled, cleaned, polished with felt, oiled, assembled as it should - the lens became a feast for the eyes, so stylish, shiny. The construction is solid, with a 10-blade diaphragm and blue coating. Will now work as a macro lens. He draws very nicely, not as contrasting as his fellow Industar 61 l / d, but more artistic. On highlights, it gives nice rings on any aperture. The maximum aperture is f22, not f16 as in the 61st, for macro this is a big plus in terms of increasing the depth of field. Some strange series number starts from zero.
I'm trying to put an I-26m on a Nikon D7200 via an adapter. The lens has sat down, but the electronics does not see the lens and does not allow to take shots ... Tell me, please, maybe you know what is the matter?
Lushnikov's dandelion is necessary
Shoot in manual mode "M", in the other, the electronics will not let you work.
This is solved programmatically. In the settings you need to use the shutter release without a lens.
Hello! I got an Industrial 26m1: 2,8 F5cm lens with the letter P. Do I have Nikon 7100 will it be just like a macro? Do I need a Nikon39 adapter M42-M39da adapter ?! Or I don’t understand something ?! !!
If the adapter does not have a compensating lens, then there will be ONLY MACRO on Nikon
This is a rangefinder lens, it will work only at close focusing distances on any SLR camera with any adapter, including a lens, i.e. like a macro lens
Hello Arkady, I have a Nikon D5100 + Industar 26M 2.8 / 50 camera. Tell me, what kind of adapter is needed for the lens to work not only as a macro, otherwise it only focuses under your nose :)
It is necessary to redo. See the adaptation option from reader reviews.
Good evening! Tell me, please, which adapters do you need to purchase to use the Industar-26m on the Fujifilm x-e1?
Thank you in advance for your reply and useful article! :))
Two rings are needed.
Adapter from m39 to m42
И
Adapter from m42 to ft.
Everything is on aliexpress
And there will be a cool macro, it was not required. Need m39-fuj.
Such a lens, in theory, can be used on the Sony A7 (RO 18mm)?
Probably the cheapest ff lens now.
A good lens for portraits. Smooth, soft bokeh, sharp enough where you need it. Not ringing, but I'm not worried about oversharp in portraits. Got it from my dad along with FED-2, the state of "garage storage", like - only from the store :)
On Sony a7mk2 it’s working fine with the m39-NEX adapter
I don't really like Soviet lenses, but I'm happy with this
Arkady, welcome! I need your advice, for a better macro, which one is better to choose a lens, industrial 26m (52mm) or 50u-1, thanks in advance!
26m much more interesting.
this is where the prices are, 5p per bucket?
IN 2013)
Fantastic glass!
Industar 26 or 61 can be installed even on Nikon! I used a resharpened helicoid from Industar 50-2 and a lens block 61 L / D, and even got infinity. Now I plan to make the same symbiosis with the I-26 with enlightened optics. On the Nikon 1 mirrorless camera, it showed excellent results.
Hello dear experts!
Recently I bought myself such a lens “to see”. I shot a little on a Fuji X-M1 with an L39-FX adapter, and found such a strange thing: the minimum distance turns out to be one and a half meters, while there is such a sickly flight for infinity. What is the reason, it is impossible to figure out. It does not affect the picture, of course, but a hard stop would not hurt.
I would be grateful if you could explain what the matter is and how to fix it.
... tack ... seems to have figured it out. It looks like the adapter is too thin. Correctly?
Yes
Judging by the photo of Arkady, the lens is clearly not with a single-layer coating. There are at least two layers. Or I'm wrong?
Here is a photo of mine. I see several colors there: burgundy, blue, blue, yellow.
These are reflections from different lens surfaces. Each surface is covered with one layer. There was no MC technology in the 50s, in the USSR it became widespread only in the 1980s, and the first “MC” lenses had a simple blue two-layer coating. Then it was replaced by a more perfect coverage of green shades, and then - even more progressive and more “colorful” reds, pinks and greens.
Then here is a photo of peers' enlightenment:

And one more descendant
Lenses with MS will have multiple absorption bands or one broad spectrum from each coating layer. The flare of the “mixed” color is obtained in total.
And one more
How is this all to be understood?
Do you want to understand? Disassemble the lenses, remove the lens, record the UV-Via spectra and you will see single bands (two - from the enlightenment of the outer and inner surfaces, glass does not make a particular contribution to it) of absorption themselves. The fact that the glare of the I-26m has different colors does not mean that there is an MS. Glare is, generally speaking, from different surfaces.
