Nikon D600 review

For the opportunity Nikon D600 body review many thanks to Ivan Berdnik.

Nikon D600 review

Nikon D600 review

Nikon D600 is the first full-length amateur Nikon digital SLR camera. Prior to this, all full-frame CZK belonged only to a professional level. Nikon D600 is 'Full Frame to the Masses!'. The difference between the size of the matrix for type cameras APS-C Nikon DX and the size of the matrix for type cameras APS Nikon FXwhich the Nikon D600 belongs to is approximately 2.25 times. And believe me, in many cases matrix size really matters. True, a full-format camera requires only Fx lenses.

This is how the Nikon D600 camera looks from different sides without a lens (body) and with a lens (kit)

This is how the Nikon D600 camera looks from different sides without a lens (body) and with a lens 24-85 (kit)

The Nikon D600 has a 24,3MP sensor. This is a good indicator for a full-frame camera, I believe that about 20MP for full-frame cameras is quite enough for almost any photo task, and for those who need to print posters there are monsters. Nikon D800, Nikon D800E and digital backs. If you are a miser and count all the pixels in the resulting image from the Nikon D600, then you can count 24.160.256 pixels, which allows you to reproduce a photo of 6016 by 4016 pixels.

In the spring of 2013, Nikon already has 5 cameras with 24MP and two cameras with 36MP.

Before the release of the D600, only the Nikon D24x had a full-frame 3MP sensor, which, by the way, is already damn old, but the price of which does not fall at all. For me, the number of megapixels is practically not important. Personally, I’m even offended that manufacturers are increasing their number, and the noise level at high ISOs remains practically unchanged. Megapixels are not always as good as marketers assure, you can read more details in the section Battle of Megapixels.

Nikon D600 can work on ISO 100 to 6400 units and expand the value to Lo1 (equivalent ISO 50) and up to Hi2 (equivalent ISO 25.600) Here is the original example on ISO 6400 (noise reduction function is on). It's a sin to complain about the performance of the Nikon D600 at high ISO. The D600 has a lower level and a slightly different type of noise than my old lady Nikon D700.

Example photo on Nikon D600

Example photo on Nikon D600

With noise levels at high ISOs, the Nikon D600 is fine. True sorry that the Nikon D600, D800 and D800E have an ISO 6400 ceiling, older cameras could work at this value Nikon D700 и D3... It turns out that the pixels were added to the new cameras, but the ISO was forgotten. Only two models remain more efficient cameras in terms of high ISO for 2013 - Nikon D3s и D4that have a ceiling of ISO 12.800.

Nikon D600 uses the updated Nikon Multi-CAM 4800 focus sensor, this is an upgraded Nikon Multi-CAM 4800DX sensor, which can be found in Nikon D7000 и D5200. The camera uses 39 focus points, 9 of which are cruciforms. Unlike Nikon D7000 The new D600 can work with lenses with aperture up to F / 8.0. In practice, this means that the Nikon D600 focuses better in poor lighting conditions than D7000, D5200. I really don't like small viewfinder coverage with focus points. All the focus points of the Nikon D600 are in the center, which is not surprising, because here is just a modified focus system from a cropped camera. You can see more details about focus modules and their comparison here.

Many users have a choice between three Nikon D600 cameras, D700, D800 (E), such a plate may clarify the choice a bit:

For myself, I see no reason to switch from Nikon D700 on Nikon D600. Some may need video in the D600 and slightly more RAW processing due to better DD and lower noise. If the choice is the first full-frame camera, then, in my opinion, the D600 is an excellent option. When it comes to dynamic range, color depth, etc. in modern full-length cameras, I advise you to look here.

Despite the fact that the Nikon D600 camera has as much as 24 MP, with any RAW quality setting frame buffer, puts 15 frames in FX mode, 22 frames in DX mode. If you shoot in JPEG and turn off all the additional functions of software image enhancement, then 28 JPEG L frames in FX mode and 46 frames in DX mode are placed in the buffer. The buffer readings are just great for an amateur camera. The only negative is the inability to use a RAW file without compression. RAW is available with 12 or 14 bit color depth and with conventional or lossless compression.

Sample photo on Nikon D600

The maximum shooting speed in any mode (with and without a booster) is 5.5 frames per second. This is enough for any type of shooting, it may not be enough for reporting, but the D600 is not a reporting camera.

The Nikon D600 has a nice viewfinder with 100% lens field of view and 0.7x magnification. It was pleasant enough for me to work with such a viewfinder, it is much more for the 'peephole' of amateur cameras like Nikon D3200, D40. In general, it is very pleasant to work with the camera. Settings and buttons are not very different from Nikon D7000. Dealing with the camera is not difficult.

Nikon D600 has a built-in focus motor, you can use any lens without a focus motor, for example, such inexpensive legendary lenses as Nikon 85mm F1.8D AF Nikkor и Nikon 70-210 F4 Nikkor.

From the pleasant moments in the Nikon D600:

  1. Measurement exposure performed using 2016 pixel like u D7000, D7100, D5200. About measurement exposure can read here.
  2. Function auto ISO works very well, the camera can automatically adjust the desired shutter speed depending on the installed lens.
  3. Two locks on the camera control wheel. This is very convenient, it really helps to avoid accidentally changing the shooting mode. I really missed such a thing on my old Nikon D90.
  4. Full HD video 1.920 x 1.080 30p, recorded in MOV format with the H.264 codec. Attention, sound recording is performed using a monaural microphone. You can buy an external stereo microphone for the camera. Video has a common problem with auto focus quality. Also, the Nikon D600 is not able to control the aperture value when shooting video. If full control over all the parameters when shooting movies is important, then you will have to look to the side Nikon D800.
  5. Support for older lenses AI-S type and any other lenses that can only be mounted on the camera.
  6. Two memory card slots SD (SDHC, SDXC, UHS-I). You can set up various methods of working with cards as your heart desires.
  7. System for cleaning the matrix from dust.
  8. Nikon D600 supports remote control of external flash units. I am a big fan of the system Nikon CLS
  9. Of course, the Nikon D600 supports high-speed 'FP' sync with external flash units. By the way, if you are looking for an extra flash, here my recommendations.
  10. A large 3.2-inch display, however, recently the number of dots in the new Nikon cameras has not changed and remains equal to 921,000. The display is the same as Nikon D800,D800E, D4.
  11. The case is half made of magnesium alloy, very similar to the case Nikon D7000.
  12. The camera has an additional monochrome display with which it is very convenient to control the camera and change the basic settings.
  13. USB, HDMI, Microphone in, 3.5mm headphone jack
  14. Battery EN-EL15, same as Nikon D7000, D7100, D800, D800E. Holds a charge well.
  15. Programmable buttons U1 and U2, which can be configured for different tasks.
  16. The camera supports automatic vignetting correction.
  17. Electronic level.
  18. Active D-lighting, bracketing exposure, ADL bracketing, bracketing white balance and HDR function
  19. Fine tune focus

What I did not like:

  • The center button is not programmable for instant zoom. After Nikon D700 Without this feature, I’m extremely uncomfortable working with the Nikon D600. It seemed a trifle, but it seriously ruined my nerves.
  • Not the entire body is made of an alloy of metals. The front part is made of polycarbonate.
  • Minimum excerpt 1/4000 s shutter Many inflate with '1/4000s' great trouble. But it’s not so scary, for example, Nikon D600 can dose using ISO 50 (Lo 1) and 1/4000 seconds as much light as Nikon D3S at ISO 100 (Lo 1) and 1/8000 seconds. By the way D1H can work with shutter speed in 1 / 16.000 seconds:).
  • When shooting video, you cannot control the aperture value. So far only Nikon D4, D800, D800E can afford full control when shooting video.

Personal experience
Nikon D600 is not so small and light as many people write about it. The camera is much larger than crumbs like D5100 or D3200. In general, the Nikon D600 is an excellent amateur camera, it is a pity that the Nikon D600 does not use 51 focus points as on older Nikon cameras, it is also a pity that not all of the camera body is made of metal alloy. But, of course, for that kind of money just cannot get a copy Nikon D4 in the housing from Nikon D7000 :). And Nikon added fuel to the fire, which covers a person’s head when choosing a camera. To new Nikon D7100 installed the updated module at 51 focus points, now many will puzzle over what to buy - Nikon D7100 or Nikon D600. I am often asked to indicate approximate prices for a particular photo equipment, Nikon D600 is still the cheapest Nikon full-format CZK:

All Nikon D600 Body prices

By the way, I personally wonder what is better when working with poor lighting, the updated focus module on the Nikon D600 or the good old module on Nikon D700, D3, D3s, D300, D300s. Personally, I am more inclined to the latter. During the time that I had the D600, I did not feel any serious differences in focusing accuracy when working with high-aperture optics. You can leave your ideas in the comments.

A popular resource for comparing cameras snapsort gave the Nikon D600 the maximum number of points - 100 out of 100. Attention: they say that the Nikon D600 has serious problems with the contamination of the matrix (video problem review) Most likely for this reason, on October 8.10.2013, XNUMX, Nikon released a new camera. Nikon D610 to replace the D600, in order to remove the poor reputation of the latter due to problems with the contamination of the matrix.

Comments: 575, on the topic: Review of Nikon D600

  • Denis

Thank you Arkady! Just yesterday I requested a review of the D600 and here you are! Thank you, on behalf of many users!

  • Andrii

It’s written in the table below that the D600 is not HDR, but I really want to have fun!

    • Arkady Shapoval

Updated the tablet, thanks for your attention.

  • Andrii

Still nothing has been said about the main problem of the D600 - consuming oil on the camera's matrix! (((

    • Arkady Shapoval

At work, I did not find such a problem, I can not write about it from the ceiling.

      • Edward

Arkady, thanks for the description: without foppiness and on business :)
I have a D7000, the problematic - I often shoot in poor lighting conditions (for example, churches, etc.), does it make sense to change to the hero of the article, or right away - D800, or not to twitch at all? :)

        • Arkady Shapoval

Switching to a full frame makes sense, but you should think about the model.

        • Nail

I upgraded from D7000 to 800. Of the most noticeable differences (we will not talk about the size of the matrix) - the focusing system - heaven and earth, at 800 the lenses that let me down at 7000 (I mean focusing in difficult conditions) worked at full capacity. Following from the review, the 600 has the same system as the 7000 (which annoyed me so much at the time).
If possible, it is better to take an 800-ku - the dimensions and weight are not very different.

          • Denis

Nail, I took the D7000 as a device with reporter inclinations. So far, it suits even with the complete 18-105 (and in dark conditions), but the fifty-fifty f1,4G does not give me the opportunity to photograph running children (and serial shooting does not help). How does the fifty D7000 and D800 compare? and on other lenses (FX), if you have information?

          • Nail

Denis, as I noticed, the fixes do not behave very well on the 7000th (and on the 90th) - I tried various Nikkor and Sigma. On the 800, there is no such problem, even Sigmas focus perfectly in any conditions. I can't say about the zooms, I used only DX-zooms on the crop. On 800 zoom I use Nikon's 24-70 and 70-200, both 2,8G - focus perfectly.

          • Nail

+ even after buying a crop, I realized that fifty is not as good as it seemed on the crop (cropped cameras use only the central “beautiful” part of the frame)

          • Nail

            Sorry, im.v.v. after buying ff

          • Denis

Nail, thanks! Now I’ll put an end to my speculation about a fifty dollars on the crop, otherwise I sinned a bit on the fix. Now, in thought, take a D800 camera for fifty dollars, or even sell this glass and purchase 24-70 or 70-200 for crop (I heard a lot of good for their excellent work on crop, especially 70-200). I rent events.

          • Nail

Denis, if you are shooting events, then one cannot do with the D800 - you still have to buy a zoom.

          • Denis

Nail, thanks! I agree, it meant “… one fifty kopeck is not enough…” or is it “… one D800 is not enough…”? :))

        • anonym

Take the D800 and do not forget to always carry a tripod with you;)

    • Anatoly

Duc already 600ku began to complete with a bale of rags that would wipe the matrix.

  • Ivan

Thanks for the review. Great camera. Recently I shot in the same Dreamtown on the D3100, on the iso 1600, it’s just unbearably more noisy, and on this camera it’s quite tolerable to shoot for 2000, excellent quality, excellent camera.

And about the choice between the D600 and D7100 due to the focus points, the picture on the full frame is definitely more interesting.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Such a thing that really all the d600 points are knocked down in the center. On older models 51, the point is not ice in the center, and in the d600 the situation is much worse.

  • Eugene

Focus points, knocked to the center, bring me to white heat. So far, I'm shooting at a super-aperture 50 1.4D, making a portrait on a fullframe is a terrifying search for a compromise: either you are within certain angles in order to catch your eye at least with one point, or close the aperture.
Oil did not notice, pah-pah. I have never turned on sensor cleaning. And, honestly, this is my first digital camera (before that I studied at Kiev-19) and the first purchase in my life for that kind of money. Therefore, I’m even scared to think about oil and dust))
Annoyingly annoying moment such as Picture Control. Neutral mode produces faded shots. Saturated a little better. After lightroom, the originals generally seem like a wild marriage. The question is, why is this Picture Control. Can it be that a camera for that kind of money cannot immediately give a bright, at least average, picture. I’ll look at this moment in the spring, when it will be brighter on the street.
Thanks for the review. Once again, I apologize to Arkady for not being able to show his copy because of life in two cities. And thank you again for the telephone consultation before purchasing it.

    • Denis

Regarding Picture Control ... According to your Eugene descriptions, everything is similar to the situation with the D7000. I put “Portrait” on the D7000 and then modify the colors in the converter. I tried other modes of "Piccher" - it was getting worse and paler. What I like about portrait mode is that complexion can be accurately reproduced right down to the final product - photography.

      • Evgeny Petrovich

stop stop stop, but is Picchet control equal to how it can affect it, is it processor processing, what does the converter after picchet control have to do with it?

        • Denis

That's right, putting “Portrait” on the camera during RAW shooting, already on the camera monitor, you can roughly see what you will start from when processing. When opened in the converter, the preset immediately opens in this case, "Portrait", i.e. the one at which it was removed.

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Thanks for the thoughts.

  • Denis

It is not clear whether there is a subtle adjustment of autofocus in this camera?

    • Sergei

Yes, there is! And it works great.
There is also a cool feature for lovers of mechanical optics: you can set the lens parameters in the camera itself.

    • Arkady Shapoval

      There are 19 points.

  • Paul

Arkady, thanks for the review, her, more correctly - for the reviews!
I downloaded your picture with ISO 6400, but 3600 is written in exif. Recheck pliz.

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Looked, take another look.

  • i-hero-in.narod.ru

Initially, I wanted this particular device: inexpensive (planned) and full frame! But some artificially degraded characteristics discouraged all desire ... And after I turned the D800 - I only want it! Lately Nikon has been picking up characteristics for its cameras in a strange way. Because of this, photographers have to make compromises: either a cool and inexpensive crop, or a “degraded” full frame, or a multi-megapixel and expensive full frame bundled with a new computer ...

    • Arkady Shapoval

Well, in fact, the pros know exactly what they need, and the problem of choice is solved very quickly. But in the budget segment, where there are more enthusiasts than photographers, there really are a lot of little things that do not allow you to buy a d4 in a d7000 case for money from d3100.

      • i-hero-in.narod.ru

Needless to say, a pro reporter who shoots a D * series and makes enough money just buys a D4. But those who shoot with the D700 - what should they do? D600 with a bunch of shortcomings and clearly not a replacement, but D800 is “too” megapixel and a little “slow-firing”? And for the “croppers” - to take the D600 or stay a little on the crop in the face of the more perfect D7100? In general, Nikon currently does not have a half-frame DSLR with balanced parameters and an inexpensive price to replace the D700.

        • Denis

I completely agree. I also think.

        • Alex 2

          Alternatively - Nikon D500

      • Oleg

        Excellent noticed, smiled!)))

    • Eugene

He slept and saw himself with the eight hundredth. But a thousand dollars turned out to be an unbearable price difference. Decided let this be. And for the missing thousand in the foreseeable future I’d better add the lens and flash.

  • Denis

Eh, if I started with a clean slate, I would take a lens (one of the “N-monsters”), and for the rest some kind of proven camera, well, at least D300 (S), for example.

    • Jury

"N-monsters" - not always better ... ..)) Old manual Nikon optics - it will be better.

      • Denis

I agree on optics, and not only ... Today, there are “new” cyber-technological quality standards in the yard. Marketing comes first. Gone are the past (along with the past 20th century) German and Japanese quality. Nobody even remembers photography in general, some megapixel races are a priority.

  • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

I’m swinging like on a swing: to sell 7000 or not, and Arkady writes an intelligent article, I was hoping for a push :)
Help those who have already made such a choice, why do I really need 600?
What in wedding photography will I win?
Thanks to the author, as always interesting, but not enough for such an apparatus.

    • Eugene

Dynamic range, the ability to print very large formats. Full frame have full frame

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

        dd 600-14,2
        dd 7000-13,9

the ability to print very large formats is not in demand.

        • Denis

No, there is no highlight in the D600 as in the upgrade device. Yes, it will be to be the D600 as the first camera in practice.

    • Arkady Shapoval

D600 is an amateur device, what more to take from it?

      • anonym

Anything that can be taken from more “cool” full frames, and in some cases, when the arms are straight, even more….

    • Denis

Vitaliy, I’m on the same swing :) I won’t sell D7000 and I don’t advise you :) This is a wonderful device! To win the wedding, I would consider pairing the Canon D7000 5D Mark II with a fix of 50 mm, for example. Now the price-performance ratio of the 5D Mark II (wedding legend) is very attractive.

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

Thank you, Denis, but having a two-brand kit is inconvenient.

    • Nail

Was 7000th, out of interest I took to "shoot" the 600th (from the 800th itself).
I'm afraid you won't feel much of a difference ... Don't waste your money

      • anonym

:)) Yes, don't waste your money on the D800 when you can buy the D600….

  • Bogdan

The singing hour of asking food is D800 + yakis fiks (well, hocha b 50mm 1,4) chi D600 + nikor 24-70 2,8 "N-monster")). Shilivaya in the direction of the rest). My first FF (before that buv kenon 550d). Pokey is not pathetic. To be like everything. The sound seems to focus on the central points with a slightly rearranged layout, so when switching to the d600 without feeling discomfort through the cluster of autofocus points.

  • Oleg

The review is good. I have such a camera. In the review, I think the error. he writes rav without compression. Compared to 7000, it’s better, and significantly. Yes, the coverage area with dots is unsuccessful and concentrated in the center. after 500 frames, the left corner becomes dirty. after 5000-specific dirt, not oil. namely dirt (already cleaned). I just like the camera!

    • Arkady Shapoval

No, there is no error in the RAW question, the D600 camera does not allow the use of uncompressed RAW.

  • anonym

As for me, the D600 is dust in the eyes, let's see what happens when the dust settles ... Let's take pictures ...

  • Ivan

On mine already for one and a half thousand and not specks of pah-pah (about 200 yesterday in the Dreamtown :)).
Today, the brightness of the display was switched from auto to manual (0), oddly enough, the colors began to look normal, and after I decided to remove the plastic protective cover, I realized that everything is fine with the display on the d600 :)
Today I was holding d7100 in my hands, after which I do not regret buying d600 ...)

  • Alena

Arkady, please tell me the cameras for the nikon and canon novice photographer. The cost is within 25000 rubles.

  • Oleg

yes. mistake. there is no such feature on nikon d600 as a rav without compression. strange .... I put it first and forgot. but still it's not a big problem. he shoots well and I'm happy. almost everyone has dirt on the matrix. (This was discussed a lot on the forums). and the dirt started up, by itself :) I did not overturn the glass. bought in a store (with an official guarantee) fastened 28-300 and on a trip…. I arrived, I looked and the whole left edge was covered in mud (it was written a lot about the fact that the shutter of this model was pumping dust) I thought that was how they write oil. not ! not butter!…. blew :) with a special pencil rubbed :) like new. overbought to 16-35. clicked photos 300 - it starts to get dirty again ... they wrote that it depends on the party .. I'm going to Europe there and check it out in combat conditions finally. By the way, testil 800 is a good device, but it makes more noise than the canon mark 3, and noticeably. The d800 is very good in ideal conditions or close to them. there is an opportunity to take nikon d4 (a friend is not new (he decided to switch to a competing technique :)) bastard :))) at a good price, then I'll see how much worse d600 is :))

      How to check for dirt?

    • Denis

Oleg, Canon has been shooting the whole world for a long time :), there are many reasons, but I'm talking about the fact of things. I am of course with Nikon as you are. So you have to hold on :) !!! I communicate with my Canon colleagues - we understand each other :) - we mutually share cameras to shoot at events.

    "Nikon D600 has a large viewfinder ..."
Pure water lies. The viewfinder is the same as on the D300 crop. I shot the corporate right away on the D600 and D300. Viewfinders are no different in size and lightness (lenses are the same at aperture ratio). Mostly because of the viewfinder, I abandoned the idea of having my D600. And believe me, there is something to compare. I have a Nikon F100. THERE IS A REAL viewfinder, not a keyhole.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Everything is relative. Indulge in d40, look at d600.

      • Roman D

I agree, everything is relative. You can also compare with the Canon G1X

        • Arkady Shapoval

I slightly changed the description, removed the word “big”, wrote it comparatively.

          • Roman D

it is interesting to hear your opinion on the comparison of the D700 and D600 viewfinders. this is a much more correct comparison. and that, and that - FF. a person who has heard from someone that FF is also a large bright viewfinder may hope for this in the D600 too, but in the end will not get it.
            I myself did not use either D700, or D800, or D3 *, or D4.

            • Arkady Shapoval

It may seem ridiculous, but on the d700 it seemed to me more, but this is subjective, since I used the d600 a little time. When switching from crop to full frame, the increase is felt. But in 700tka 95% of the coverage and in practice I often cling to the edges of unnecessary details, even sometimes it is insulting.

  • Oleg

the presence of dirt on the matrix is very easy to determine. Photograph a blank sheet of white paper on the closed aperture (if the zoom is on the maximum focal length and better with wiring), put 16 or more. and you will see everything. on an open hole, you can shoot portraits for years and you won’t see anything :)) but just do a lot of articles on this subject. uh

Arkady, good afternoon. Thank you very much for the review, I have been waiting for it for a long time.
But without waiting, I bought a D600. If you will, I’ll write my thoughts, maybe something will be useful, and you will add to the review.
    1. Your plate, in my opinion, lacks an important parameter - the processor, namely because of it, in the 700-ke it slows down the live view mode, in the 600-ke it is faster, and with this mode (for example, with manual optics) it is more pleasant to use and sometimes even very convenient.
    2. You write that Nikon has not increased the number of pixels on the LCD (921,000) for a long time; on the D7100, Nikon increased the resolution of the LCD screen to 1228.
    3. At the expense of 1 / 4000s and the ISO-LO mode, you correctly noticed, it saves.
    4. Personally, the shutter noise on the 600-ke seemed quieter than on the 700-ke. Maybe this of course depends on the mileage of the camera, but not only me noticed it. You did not compare this parameter?
    5. Given 24MP, I think not all the old optics (from the D series) will produce sharp frames. Our favorite 50 / 1.8D will not be as good as at 12 or 16 MP. What do you think about it?
    6. Your first frames in the review (fifty dollars), which version was shot? At first glance, your 85mm shots seem sharper.
    7. Tell Arkady please, why is there a parameter “shorter than 1/1 Auto FP” and “shorter than 200/1 Auto FP” in the E250 setting (sync speed)? How to use it in practice?
(I read the instructions, but did not understand). It is not clear why the choice with Auto FP is given for 2 excerpts.
    8. Also tell me how, in practice, you can use the settings of E2 (flash exposure)? I can’t figure out why I need this parameter.

      Thanks for the thoughts
      1. It often surprises me that marketers hype any new feature in the camera, in particular super new processors. As a photographer, I don't care what processor the camera uses, the main thing is that everything works. In the review of the d700, I pointed out that the live view slows down terribly, but at the same time in the d90 it works with a bang, I don't think this is a processor problem, because the d700 can click 8 fps, where the processor is not weakly loaded.
      2. Well, 7100 later went beyond 600tku :)
      4. D700 is much more noisy shutter. In fact, the noise of the picture depends on the shutter itself, the noise of the mirror, the constriction of the aperture mechanism, and even the aperture in the lens itself. Some lenses rub so hard with their petals that they produce a terrible metallic ringing, I was even once afraid of this. In my opinion, the diaphragm mechanism is very noisy in a 700tka, since a 700tka needs to be able to push it 8 times. D600 and D800 work much quieter.
      5. I think it will work fine, I saw what I did with 50 1.8 and 85 1.8 - pretty decent. + many people forget about closing the diaphragm. For viewing on the display or printing in small formats, it is enough for the eyes. I drove 85 at d800, in the center I was very pleasantly surprised.
      6. 50mm F1.8D AF, the most unpretentious, pictures without processing (like somewhere resize slipped through)
      7. 1 \ 200s - the camera works either in normal mode or in FP mode, while the guide number does not fall by 1/200. If 1/250, then the camera's guide number drops by 1/250 with built-in or external flash. Allows you to shorten the shutter speed as much as possible without FP. On 700/800 there are also two choices, either 1/250 or 1/320 s. Perhaps this is important for studio shooting, I usually work at 1 / 125-1 / 160, so it's difficult for me to answer.
      8. Flash exposure shows what shutter speed the camera will use in poor lighting conditions, if I'm not mistaken, then there is from 30 seconds to 1 / 60s, in short, you cannot set it. More details here - https://radojuva.com.ua/2012/08/fotoxitrosti-chast-8/

switched on your advice from d5100 to d600
The difference is huge. bought 24-85 + 70-300
also from the manuals Helios 81H and Jupiter 37 - the picture is different, especially noticeably less noise at high ISO compared to d5100

oil appeared on the matrix ((((a lot of information on the Internet about it, doesn’t interfere with open ones, it spoils the picture on closed ones, you have to Photoshop!

  • Denis KZ

Aidyn, what are the first 2 digits of the serial and what is the camera mileage?
Try blowing off with a pear, very often dust particles on the matrix are mistaken for oil))))

    • aidyn

      serial 80
      mileage about 2500
      I will clean after 3000-5000
it’s definitely oil, since one spot also flew onto the Focusing screen, tried to blow off nifig (since the edge doesn’t interfere and there are no problems with focus)
(((the pictures are super - and the spots are already bad for the heart

Arkady, please write your opinion about the carbonate front part - you mentioned this fact twice, but without details - is it fraught with something, or maybe it has some disadvantages? (except for the fact that the case is not one-piece)

Opinions on the network differ - someone scores on it, someone says that the protection of the camera is noticeably worse, telephoto cameras can hardly be clinging to, otherwise the bayonet will bend, etc .; what do you think?

    • Arkady Shapoval

This is worse for serious work. The body is not solid. But this has nothing to do with the quality of the photo. I put more emphasis on the fact that the d600 is a lower class camera for 700, 800, and this is a lot of subtleties. Talking about nothing, you need to discuss the moronism of marketers who, perverting, no longer know what to offer the market.
Marketers stupidly and deliberately cutting down the parameters of long-developed nodes gave their next creation 600ku to the mountain.
Well, and what we have at the output, a deliberately thickened AA filter, guess why, the shutter speed is stupidly underestimated to 1 / 4000s and ISO 50 is not a salvation here. Even on a piece of magnesium, and even then they saved it, in short, market Ulogs did not care where they could.

  • Oleg

Most recently, I became the owner of 600. For a beginner photographer, a camera is what you need. After d3000, d90 and a number of other cameras, this model was a pleasant surprise. Yes, you have to come to terms with the accuracy of the focus points, but personally, I mainly use them. The ventilation suppression function made it possible to successfully use the Nikkorovsky 35 / 1.8. Two slots for memory cards, user-friendly interface, great picture and more. In my opinion, it is precisely such novice photographers who are prepared to take this camera into account, and just the same marketers have made the right decision - novice photographers like me don't have an extra two thousand dollars to buy a d800 and another 1,5 for a new computer to post-process its heavy files ...

  • Denis KZ

Oleg is right, if Nikon did not have such “marketers” (and not only Nikon's) would lick their lips now and further on full-frame cameras, having a crop on their hands.
