Remote MC-30 Overview

Many thanks to Y. Polyakov for the opportunity to review the MC-30 Hongdak Remote Switch, by the way, he is engaged in selling such remotes.

This remote control allows you to control cameras Nikon D100 (only with MB-D100 buttlock), D200, D300s, D300, D700, D800, D800E, D1, D1h, D1x, D2x, D2xs, D2h, D2hs, D3, D3x, D3s, D4 and some film cameras. These cameras have a special 10 pin outputinto which the remote control is screwed, as shown in the photo below. It is very interesting that it is easiest to separate Nikon professional cameras from non-professional ones by the presence of this very 10-pin contact.

MC-30 Hongdak Remote Switch is an analogue of the native Nikon MC-30. He has one button, pressing halfway focuses the camera, and pressing the button fully focuses the camera. Everything happens exactly the same as with the usual shutter button on the camera itself. The remote control button can be locked in a permanently pressed position, which is useful when shooting in BULB mode or continuous burst shooting. The remote control is fixed to the camera with a special metal nut, so it will be impossible to accidentally disconnect or lose the remote control. The length of the remote control is 80 cm.

If you set the function of the shutter button to 'Movie', you can also control video recording with the remote control. There is also a simple and inexpensive infrared remote control for Nikon amateur cameras. ML-L3.

Conclusions:

MC-30 Hongdak Remote Switch is a pretty simple remote control for professional Nikon cameras, does not require batteries, and is very cheap. The remote is very useful for avoiding camera shake when shooting with slow shutter speeds.

Help to the project. Thanks for attention. Arkady Shapoval.

I understand that such devices are only required for studio shooting? Otherwise, you can simply set the delay for 3-5 seconds, focus, press the shutter and remove your hands, after a few seconds the picture without any movement.

    • Artyom

No. Not only. Lightning, astrophoto, fireworks and much more are very convenient to shoot with the remote control, and if the remote control is also programmable ...

    • Arkady Shapoval

Not always so, the level of convenience with the remote control is many times better.

  • Novel

similar remotes are needed for shutter speed in manual mode (Bulb)

  • Jury

Then it is unclear what is more convenient than the usual inexpensive (of course, if we are talking about non-original product) wireless remote control, which is suitable for cheap nikon.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Prof cameras do not support ML-L3.

      • Ruslan

So what is it worth taking, for example ML-L3 original or equivalent? For Nikon D -90

  • Sergei

There are a lot of different kinds of gimmicks and additions for professional cameras, which is not to say about budget ones (D3100, D5100, D3200, D5200) I wonder if there is such a useful thing for “cheaper” cameras?

    • Arkady Shapoval

Yes, for amateur cameras there is ML-L3

  • Basil

I understand that there are no wireless remote controls for the d700?

    • Arkady Shapoval

There are, but quite expensive, take a look at the instructions for the D700, it describes the options for possible work.

  • Mikhail

For “budget” options, there are wired remotes with various functions. Of course not the Nikonovskys

  • Novel

Please tell me how to turn on the wireless remote control mode in Nikon D300?
    Remote control Jyc-710

  • Anatoly, Gomel

Wireless prof. the remote control is without interest to me, and will never be required. By the way, last month ML-L3 bought in China. For 87 cents (without a tablet). I have not experienced it yet.

I'll tell you more of a secret - remote controls with batteries also work without batteries like a button :)
