In the review, I visited two of these lenses, with serial numbers 5753025 and 5785412. The first copy was converted to a Nikon F mount, so it turned into a Nikon NON AI lens without automatic iris control.

When used on a full-frame camera Nikon D700 converted lens Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm catches зеркало when focusing on infinity. Most likely, in the redone version, he will hook a mirror on all full-size cameras Nikon and Canon.

The lens is perfectly assembled - all made of metal and glass. The front lens gives off a pleasant blue-violet coating. Visually, the lens looks very nice and nice.

Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm with covers.

Focus ring rotates on 180 degrees, while the front lens does not rotate, but the trunk of the lens lengthens by about one centimeter. The focusing ring is metal, the MDF of the lens is 60 centimeters, and the depth of field is indicated for F / 4, 8, 11, 16. The aperture ring has only a fixed set of values and rotates with characteristic clicks.

For native cameras with a Minolta MD (MC) mount, an automatic blinking diaphragm is provided.

The lens uses an aperture of just 6 blades and this is one of the few obvious flaws. On covered diaphragms, nuts in the blur zone can be seen.

Personal experience

Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm - nice 'about fifty dollars'. It is comfortable to work with it and the quality of the images, as for such an old lens, is at a good level.

How to use SR/MC/MD mount lenses

To use a MINOLTA SR, MC, MD mount lens on modern mirrorless cameras, you should use the appropriate adapter:

The adapters are compatible with SR, MC and MD mount lenses and these mounts are backwards compatible. But the use of lenses with a MINOLTA SR, MC, MD mount on SLR cameras is difficult due to the long working distance. In such cases, a corrective lens adapter must be used, which will degrade the image quality.

The Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm is a good lens with characteristic bokeh. It tolerates side and back light well, gives good image contrast.

... add. At the expense of boke. Arkady has all the examples of boke on vegetation. Eye tears, of course. And on luminous objects (such as snow, reflections on the water, etc.) - it just looks AMAZING! Soft, even circles. At 85 1,4, for my taste (on crop) - worse.

  • asp

Gentlemen, if you don't dissemble first of all in front of yourself - the bokeh of the lens is not very good. And for those who have tasted the process of photography in abundance, they understand that sharpness is far from the main thing for a lens, its drawing, aura is much more important. This glass does not have this. Alas….

    • Vitaliy U

With what do you compare the bokeh of this Roccoer, if not a secret? I, for example, compared the bokeh of all my glasses (Nikon 105mm f / 2.5 Nikkor AI-S MF, Nikon 85mm f / 1.8D AF Nikkor, Nikon 50mm f / 1.8G AF- S Nikkor, Nikon 55mm f / 2.8 Micro-Nikkor (AI-S MF) fixes) and I can say with confidence: the nature of the blur, the shape of the discs in Roccoer is the best (for my taste). At f4, it is already as sharp as Nikon 55mm f / 2.8 Micro. And the volume is similar to the Nikon 105mm f / 2.5. If he had autofocus, he would have sold both Nikon 50mm f / 1.8G and Nikon 85mm f / 1.8D (I don't have time to work with them in a report :)))). Excellent unit - checked!

      • Serg

even 44th helios have more beautiful bokeh than this

  • damir

I have a lot of glasses, I remade this lens for sony and this is my favorite creative tool: soft, “watercolor” drawing, portrait focus lenses. And he has his own "pattern" and "character" and "aura" and a special, incomparable "bokeh". Great lens.

  • damir

http://radikal.cc/users/damirka3#alb=rokkor link to some photos from rockcore ...

  • asp

Dear Vitaly U. Your characteristic of the bokeh of the lens - “the shape of the discs in Roccoer is the best ...” impressed me. It turns out - it's all about the magic bubbles, namely, IN THE FORM OF DISKS. That's it, no more, no less.

    • Vitaliy U

Dear asp, everyone likes (in bokeh) what HIM likes. Some of my friends like the “creamy” version, but I like the “magic bubbles” ... I have, for different purposes, many different manual glasses (Helios 40-2, Revuenon 55mm f1.2, Meyer-Optik Trioplan 2,8 / 100 V in including, not counting Nikkorov). They are each good in their own way, Rokkor is liked the most (in this parameter). This is my (and not only) opinion. And you, asp, stay with yours and look for “aura” (or maybe for one thing, and “Shambhala.”) These disputes about bokeh are an empty shkarloop from a eaten egg. There is no truth!

  • Igor

Dear experts !!! Nikon D5100 - which lens will you advise and which manufacturer to create high-quality photographs, otherwise after reading different reviews about different lenses, the head stopped thinking and deciding ... I mean a fast one. Whose glass pleases the eye in the photograph?

    • Vitaliy U

If for amateur use with your D5100, then I recommend Nikon 50mm f / 1.8G AF-S or Nikon 35mm f / 1.8G AF-S. Both the first and second options are very worthy (the first can be used as a portrait on a crop, the second as a staffer for every day). Cheap and cheerful.

      • Igor

Thank you !!! And then in my environment there is no one to consult on this topic ...

  • asp

To decide, including about bokeh, let's do this. Most often I use lenses (manuals): Nikkor-P Auto 2,5 105. Jupiter (white) -9, Zenitar-M 1,7 50 mm, Pentax-M Macro 1: 4 100, Jupiter-21M, Helios-44- 2, Konica Hexanon AR 50 1.7, Meyer Gorlitz Trioplan 2.9 50 et al. Am I flawed? And I can not objectively judge the bokeh of some, in general, an ordinary lens?

    • Vitaliy U

You, dear asp, that something "bustled" at all. I somewhere called you “flawed” (or gave you a reason to think so)? Shoot whatever you want! And here is discussed specifically this Rokkor and I (personally me !!!) like it, with all (no one denies) its disadvantages. And I also like boke. Questions? Guys, don't listen to anyone and take this lens. Minuses: HA in the open, hard at 1.4 (through the viewfinder) to get into the depth of field ... Pros: volume, color rendition, sharpness from 2.5 (razor), very interesting bokeh, price (around $ 100) Good pictures to everyone!

      • Victor Anatolyevich

Is the lens glass radioactive or not? Has anyone checked this? I didn’t ask this for nothing, they say in many forums that all old windows usually have radiation. Thank you.

        • Vitaliy U

I have heard such things (about radiation) only about super takumars ... For the rokkors (and there are a lot of them), never. I'm from Uraina, we are used to radiation, if anything :))

        • Sky

Probably yes. But you need to check!
Somewhere on the Web, an amateur physicist-photographer measured all his manual optics, the result is that all the glasses are fonile to one degree or another. And all 50 +/- mm / 1.4 he phoned!

  • Vitaliy U

    On 1.4 + D7000

    • anonym

The photo has been processed, but where are the smooth circles?

  • anonym

    Examples of photos are uncharacteristic.
    Why fry so many macro?
I wonder how this lens makes a half-length portrait on a crop with the maximum open aperture.

  • Igor

My favorite lens, only the Rockcor MC, the bokeh is not hard, you can’t tell what is hard from hard, look Nikkorov fifty kopeck, it’s rather animated, and the whole picture gives such a touch, for which I love it!

  • Vladimir

Arkady, what does “Rokkor-PF” mean in the name of the Minolta lenses?

    • Sky

PF is a formula by which you can find out the number of lenses in the number of groups. This was the standard for Japanese optics in the 60s. The old Nikkors also have this, but according to a different principle.

  • Simon

Judging by the test pictures, the sharpness is not enough macro shows this clearly. Sharpness is similar to that of Helios, soapy. Or is it such an instance ... The bokeh is beautiful.

  • Konstantin

I have one like this, MINOLTA MC ROKKOR-X PG 50: 1.4, everything that is written in the review is also suitable for mine. On the Nikon 70d, the mirror at infinity had to be cut almost completely off the nut of the last lens and put the lens on glue. There are 7000 problems with Nikon it wasn’t.

  • Konstantin

    Side view.

  • Konstantin

    On the back.

    • Vitaliy U

Your poltiynik has a good drawing, but 58mm is different in drawing. Worse. More distortion in the open. Some people appreciate that in him.

  • Nicolas

Bokeh is disgusting, colors are dirty, gray.
    Thanks for the review!

I did not understand, but can I put it on the Nikon Mount?

  • Sergei

Thanks for the review and for the existence of the resource.

  • Michael

Good afternoon. I bought this miracle for 800 UAH. It’s cheap because I removed the diaphragm from there (it’s not clear why).
Get into focus Pts. complicated. and it takes time for that ... Bokeh, as normal for me, is generally good. A big minus is HA, especially if the model is just tin on a bright background ... The backlight is better compared to the Helios 44-2 which I used before.

    • KalekseyG

This Rodion took off. No one else)))

  • Chernyakov Egor

A friend in Japan shoots them on a Nikon D850 with an adapter like. Magical photos are obtained. I want to screw it on the Sony A77 and try to take photos of the flowers))

  • Ilya Paramygin

I have many different Rokkorov and Heksanonov (amateur).
I consider this lens to be one of the best in terms of price / quality for portraiture.
Personally, I really like this bokeh.

  • Eugene

on Sony A 65 will rise?

    • tessai

will rise through the adapter minolta MD / MC-minolta A. cost in the region of 800r

  • Dima TT

The bokeh and pattern are similar to the Zeiss Biometar. I don't like it at all - clumsy and not expressive ... But it tastes and does not taste ...
