In the review, I visited two of these lenses, with serial numbers 5753025 and 5785412. The first copy was converted to a Nikon F mount, so it turned into a Nikon NON AI lens without automatic iris control.

When used on a full-frame camera Nikon D700 converted lens Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm catches зеркало when focusing on infinity. Most likely, in the redone version, he will hook a mirror on all full-size cameras Nikon and Canon.

The lens is perfectly assembled - all made of metal and glass. The front lens gives off a pleasant blue-violet coating. Visually, the lens looks very nice and nice.

Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm with covers.

Focus ring rotates on 180 degrees, while the front lens does not rotate, but the trunk of the lens lengthens by about one centimeter. The focusing ring is metal, the MDF of the lens is 60 centimeters, and the depth of field is indicated for F / 4, 8, 11, 16. The aperture ring has only a fixed set of values and rotates with characteristic clicks.

For native cameras with a Minolta MD (MC) mount, an automatic blinking diaphragm is provided.

The lens uses an aperture of just 6 blades and this is one of the few obvious flaws. On covered diaphragms, nuts in the blur zone can be seen.

Personal experience

Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm - nice 'about fifty dollars'. It is comfortable to work with it and the quality of the images, as for such an old lens, is at a good level.

How to use SR/MC/MD mount lenses

To use a MINOLTA SR, MC, MD mount lens on modern mirrorless cameras, you should use the appropriate adapter:

The adapters are compatible with SR, MC and MD mount lenses and these mounts are backwards compatible. But the use of lenses with a MINOLTA SR, MC, MD mount on SLR cameras is difficult due to the long working distance. In such cases, a corrective lens adapter must be used, which will degrade the image quality.

The Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 1: 1.4 f = 58mm is a good lens with characteristic bokeh. It tolerates side and back light well, gives good image contrast.

The glass is beautiful. Met him through a photographer girl from Japan https://www.eyeem.com/u/ukari (link where you can see her photo). The vast majority of them she does just for this lens. Having fallen in love with her photographs, he took such a lens himself, having ordered from the country of the rising ... and did not regret it! an excellent artistic tool that conveys a special atmosphere of magic.
I think those who feel and want to share such an atmosphere will find it difficult to find better glass. And for those who love sharpness and other commercial moments - Zenitar 50mm f1.7 - and it's done.

  • tessai

and right here for everyone who thinks about portrait-subject photography ... this lens is right here designed for flowers. And only for them)))

  • York

Somehow I did not appreciate it at one time.
On open it is soft, on covered nuts ... The color is pleasant, but not outstanding, plus chromatite.
58 / 1,2 is much cooler, with all the peculiarities of old glass ...

Although, on the other hand, the price is / 1,2 and the price of this is also slightly different.

I also think ... You are completely right: all the beauty of the bokeh is only fully open, if you cover up to 2-2.5 (there are no intermediate values), then the “nuts” are immediately visible. Softit is godless, even in the shade, in the sun ... it's better not to try))) The color rendition is pleasant, very plastic color transitions. I use this Rokkor on Healing, there you also need to be able to get into sharpness)). On d700, the mirror clings already from 5 (+/-) meters, but the drawing is radically different from the crop in the positive direction) Below is an example at 1.4 and Nikon D700

Hello colleagues! Which lens do you recommend Minolta MD 50 1.4 or MD 58 1.4? Shoot for the most part

    • UstasFritZZZ

parts of nature, sometimes portraits. Carcass A7mk2 with adapter. Of the manuals, there is only Helios 44-2, I want more aperture. I apologize for writing two comments - the site glitched and rebooted while writing a question.

Gorgeous glass! In addition to its optical advantages, this lens also looks very beautiful on the camera - for those who value aesthetics.
I got it in a new condition with native covers.
In my collection, apart from this Minolta, there are no other lenses with a focal length of 58 mm (MC Helios-44-3 does not count, this is a completely different song), so I will try to compare the picture created by this lens with the picture drawn by its almost “brother” - Porst Color Reflex MC Auto 55 / 1,4. Except for the 3mm focal length, the differences are as follows:
    1. On the Minolt’s open diaphragm, it is less soft than Porst and has a slightly higher sharpness. Starting from aperture 2, the sharpness at the center and the edge of the field at both lenses is leveled.
    2. Minolta has a very smooth and calm blur, in contrast to the “creamy” bokeh that Porst gives.
    3. Porst is more contrasting, but at the same time the microcontrast of both lenses is the same. This is manifested both in the open aperture and in aperture, so the picture created by Minolta looks more plastic.
    4. And, finally, the main thing: Minolta, unlike Porst, has a very even, neutral and very visually correct color rendition. Someone considers it "cold", someone - boring. But this is not a drawback, but a given, which, if you know how to use it correctly, is very helpful in your work.

Having put Minolta on my Canon EOS M6 and took the first test series of shots, I was somewhat discouraged: the lens was made in Japan, but it gives out a purely German, I would even say, “truly Aryan” picture: flat, coldish, very correct and very calm.
After the expressionist Takumar (SMC Takumar 50 / 1,4) and the soft watercolorist Porst, the picture created by Minolta seemed boring to me. But, having shot several series of shots, I finally understood the purpose of this glass.
This lens is designed for sunny weather, sunsets and sunrises, the play of light and shade, and portraits made with it will look like the works of the Renaissance masters ...

Did I like Minolta? Complex issue. The “soul” of this lens must be able to “understand” before drawing any conclusions.
Will this lens be my everyday lens? Definitely not. That's what Takumar is for.
Will I want to sell this Minolta afterwards? Yes, never!

I am glad more like Soviet glass, since so little has been written about this lens :) But he is not just good, he is beautiful. Sharp at 1.4, the picture is very beautiful. Read on English-language sites about him, you will learn a lot of good) I have such, ideally, bought on ebee half a year ago.

  • Denis

Selling this. In perfect condition. The best of versions. I played enough. Write to the mail :) Ukraine.

Tell me, what adapter is needed to hoist on Canon?

    • B. R. P.

If on a Canon DSLR, you need to cut it.

  • Vladimir

Thank you. Isn't Ali ready so as not to cut anything. I just don't know what to call him.

    • Rodion

So the segment of the lens is too small working. You can't drink there. There are some kind of adapters with an additional lens, but it will ruin the already not excellent optical quality of the lens.

    • Gregor_S

There are ready-made solutions, but they are a little extravagant
