For a long time I was looking for a universal lens for a full-frame camera. It took me a lot of time. I highly recommend not messing with this lens. There is no stabilizer, focusing is not very accurate, poor resistance to back and side light, overall sharpness - so-so by modern standards. A reasonable alternative at full frame is the 24-85 f / 3.5-4.5G or the Tamron 28-75 f / 2.8. Better yet, 24-120 f / 4, but this is a heavy and much more expensive lens.

I used to write on it here, I will add it. I had this lens for about a year, I bought it as the first one and a frame for a crop, which was not the best solution. Because there is not enough SHU. But this understanding came later. In general, I was pleased with the functionality and picture quality. But over time, it became not in demand - it was replaced by fixes and 18-55 with a button. On FF I think it is more interesting. And on the crop, it somehow turns out to be indistinct - there is no wide angle, as a portrait portrait is very mediocre. Neither this nor that in general. Macro is nothing to start with, but nothing more. It lacks sharpness, but the picture has a kind of warm film-lamp charm, unlike modern dark zooms, where everything is too sleek. The back one holds better than the Soviet ones, but in general it is not very good. But it gives a nice flare) There is not enough stub, but not critical. The design is much better, more reliable than 18-105, 24-85vr. As a staff for a crop I would not recommend. On ff it is great if you are ready to give up the stub and like the picture from old glasses. I attach a photo with a glare, not a very high-quality 800 by 600 tk, the limitation is 1MB, but it weighs in this form almost 900kb

A good lens, durable, lightweight, compact, with a good picture. Like macro on it (flowers - mushrooms). I recommend a camera with a “screwdriver”, better for a full frame, especially for travel. The lack of VR on these focal lengths does not bother me. Of course, 35-70 / 2,8 or 80-200 / 2,8 is better, but the price for 28-105 in the secondary market pleases, I even think that it is underestimated for the price. If you decide to take it, it is better to take it in excellent standing for 8-9 thousand rubles, than strongly used one. for 7. The biggest disadvantage is the lack of a focusing motor, so I do not recommend it for younger models.
