About image quality
On a full-frame camera, the lens is sharp with F / 3.5-F / 4.5 in the center of the frame. In the corners, the sharpness drops, and in macro mode a strong vignette is visible. The lens conveys contrast very well, has excellent color reproduction, is not afraid of side and back light, especially when using the lens hood that comes with the kit. The 28mm lens has distortion, but the distortion level is surprisingly very small. The lens can still boast not the worst bokeh.

Personal experience
For a long time I was looking for a universal lens for a full-frame camera. It took me a lot of time. Nikon 24-70mm f / 2.8G ED AF-S N Nikkor turned out to be very expensive, and Tamron AF 28-75mm f / 2.8 SP XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) for Nikon I was not satisfied with the flimsy body. I like 28-105 precisely the “airy” picture inherent in almost all glasses designed under the film. The picture from 18-105 seems to me less expressive and less plastic. Since when wiping it did not go away, looked into a monocle, thought that it was a small chip. It turned out to be a bubble ball, looks like glycerin on a hydrophobic surface)) I examined it with a magnification of 15 times somewhere. And it is covered with enlightenment))) Clear image does not affect the image, but I have never seen such a thing)))
