True, the Canon 30D is not the most pleasant frame buffer. When shooting fast frame buffer Canon 30D can hold a maximum of 9 shots. In RAW mode - 9 shots, in JPEG L mode - 9 shots, in RAW + JPEG mode - 8 shots. It's funny, usually Canon cameras reduce the buffer when the maximum allowable ISO is turned on, in this case, 30 images are always placed in the Canon 9D buffer, regardless of the ISO value. True, if you turn on the noise reduction function at long exposures, then frame buffer reduced to 6 pictures in RAW.

Canon 30D uses 12 bit RAW (CR2 format). RAW files weigh between 6 and 10 MB, since the Canon 30D uses a matrix with 8.2 effective megapixels. Personal experience
The Canon 30D camera is pleasant to work with, nothing superfluous like Live View, video and other bells and whistles. The camera is very fast and functional. The viewfinder only covers 95% of the frame at 0.9x, which is quite normal for a camera of this level. If you only need image quality, you can safely buy Canon 20D, so how are u Canon 20D same sensor as Canon 30D.

30d AF is weak and only turns on when the built-in flash is activated. I recommend buying a separate flash with built-in autofocus backlight, in my case 380 EX from Canon, focusing in the room has become many times faster and more accurate.

Somehow I bought it with hands 20d and 30d at the same time. 30 went with low mileage. Although they have the same sensor, the color of the camera on the same optics was much different. Left 30d. Pleases. I especially noticed that it can lie for six months and the battery does not discharge. And it helped out more than once. 7d is discharged in 1,5-2 months.

Ilya, I had 1000d, 450D, 30D in stock at the same time ... if I change the 450D, then maybe 5D.
I put canon 30 / 450 II, Helios 1000-50 and Jupiter 1.8a on 44D, 2D and 37D ... if we talk about focusing accuracy and sharpness, then on 30D 50 / 1.8II it showed itself better than Helios and Jupiter, but on 1000D Helios and Jupiter worked just fine (focus accuracy due to the “manual” drive, and sharpness apparently due to a weaker AA filter) ... on the 450D, all three lenses showed approximately the same result (50 / 1.8 was focused as on the 1000D (i.e. not always successful, although curable), and a pair of Helios and Jupiter showed a result similar to the 30D (i.e. inferior in sharpness to the 1000D) After some tests and thought, the 450D was sold without regret and the 5D was bought instead.
PS In the "test" we used a combination of RAW + JPG and the results in both cases did not change the situation.
