Nikon D2x Review

Nikon D2x is the flagship professional camera. Nikon D2x is truly impressive in appearance and productivity camera. It is very interesting that the Nikon D2 camera does not exist, the camera was immediately produced in one of the D2 modificationsh,D2x and later D2hs,D2xs. You can read the link that denote the letters h, x, s in the name of the cameras.

The main difference between Nikon D2h \ D2hs and Nikon D2x \ D2xs consists in the number of megapixels, and therefore, in the speed and duration of continuous shooting. Nikon D2h \ D2hs can take 8 fps up to 40 pictures in the buffer, and Nikon D2x \ D2xs up to 5 pictures with a smaller buffer.

Nikon D2x has 12.4 million effective pixels CMOS sensor, which even for 2012 remains a good indicator. Nikon D2x and Nikon D2xs a matrix is installed, which is not used anywhere except for these two cameras, therefore, do not confuse it with the matrices from Nikon D90 / D300 / D300s / D5000, a newer 12.3 MP matrix has been developed for them.

The main indicator of a camera of this level is the speed and duration of burst shooting. The shooting speed when using the entire area of the matrix with 12.4MP images reaches 5 fps... The camera has one interesting feature - High speed cropped modein which the camera can only shoot the central area of the matrix with a resolution 3216 by 2136 pixels (6,9MP). In High speed cropped mode, the camera can accelerate to 8 fps.

Responsible for the duration of burst shooting frame buffer. I was able to squeeze the following buffer capacity readings from Nikon D2x:

  • 17 frames in RAW mode (independent of compression level), the file weighs an average of 20 MB
  • 16 frames in TIFF format
  • 20 frames in JPEG L format with quality priority
  • 22 frames in JPEG L format with priority
  • 29 frames in RAW format High speed cropped mode (independent from RAW compression level)
  • 28 frames in TIFF format High speed cropped mode
  • 38 frames in JPEG format L High speed cropped mode in size priority
  • 34 frames in JPEG format High speed cropped mode in priority of quality

In fact, if you take the maximum quality, the camera can only use 17 shots in the frame buffer, which is less than 5 seconds for serial shooting at 4 fps. I want to note that a simpler Nikon D200 It has frame buffer 21 shots and the same high speed burst shooting. Also, the only drawback of the Nikon D2x camera is 12 bit RAW compression, but it can be deducted for the age of the camera.

Nikon D2x has simply amazing ergonomics. The Nikon D2x has a combo case with landscape and portrait orientation of the controls. All buttons are in place. The whole body is made of metal alloy and waterproof. True, protection from bad weather is only available when using appropriate lenses. Nikon D2x has dVA additional monochrome display with backlightwith which it is very easy to change the basic settings of the camera. The main camera display of all 2.5 inches and has 230.000 points. To date, the main display can not boast of anything. The same large display cameras Nikon D200, D80, D40, D40x, D60.

Of course, the Nikon D2x has a built-in focus motor. 'Screwdriver' allows you to use old type AF lenses... Also, Nikon D2x works great with manual optics, including those with AI-S lenses, while the Nikon D2x can use matrix metering exposure. For example, Nikon D1x did not have such an opportunity. In general, Nikon D2x can work with any lens that can be attached to it.

Nikon D2x has 11-point focus system. The Multi-CAM2000 module is responsible for focusing. Focusing on the frame is excellent. Multi-CAM1000 in cameras by type Nikon D200, D80 much worse covers the frame area. In High speed cropped mode, the far right and left focus points are cropped.

Since Nikon D2x is a real professional camera, its viewfinder is large, with 100% coated frame. Please note that in the viewfinder, in addition to the lower information panel, there is also a right side information panel.

Nikon D2x supports ISO 100-800 expandable to 3200 (Hi 2). I will not say that this is a lot. Talking about the noise of the matrix is a very thankless job. Whoever needs it will squeeze out everything that he needs from this range. Here ISO 800 example shot in poor light conditions without processing, on-camera JPEG L, with noise reduction turned off. Auto ISO limited shutter speed 1 \ 250s.

For measuring exposure Meets 1,005-pixel CCD sensor. The camera can use 3D Color Matrix Metering II, which shows a good result in any conditions.

Nikon D2x also uses a good Li-On battery EN-EL4, which withstands over 1000 shutter releases. Also, Nikon D2x uses large and fast CF Flashcards. My Nikon D2x works without problems with CF at 32GB.

Attention: Nikon D2x does not have a built-in flash. But the camera supports high-speed FP synchronization. Minimum excerpt with flash in normal mode is 1 \ 250s.

Of course, the Nikon D2x still has a number of little things: various menu settings, ports for connecting equipment, interval shooting, a red timer lamp, rubberized selectors, crop function when viewing images, a shutter to close the viewfinder, flexible settings for everything that is possible.

Personal impressions

Nikon D2x is real, big break after Nikon D1x... The camera is just amazing, very fast. Turns on instantly, the shutter sound is very unusual. You can buy Nikon D2x instead of Nikon D2h / D2hs and use the same burst speed of 8 fps. Believe me, 8 fps is very tempting. It's funny, but cameras of the Nikon D2 series are not very popular in our country, usually instead of the Nikon D2 line they use simpler ones. Nikon D200, D300 or full frame Nikon D3, D700. Often the best cropped camera among the professional Nikon line is called Nikon D300s, I would add that D2x, D2xs can easily compete for the title of best cropped camera. At the moment Nikon D2xs - the latest of the flagship crop cameras, after which Nikon began to release already full-frame flagship cameras. Therefore, the D2 line is the best, but also the last.

Conclusions:

Nikon D2x is a great professional crop camera... Attracted by the speed and precision of work. Among the disadvantages is the small ISO range. Recommend.

  • Amateur photographer with gosfin

It would be interesting to try this device in operation.
Point blank I can’t understand the zafig in the camera without the video microphone and speaker.
Well, okay, the purpose of the speaker can still be understood - sound signals when it is in focus, but what for a microphone (is there a built-in voice recorder?)

    • Arkady Shapoval

Record audio commentary on captured photos.

      • Amateur photographer with gosfin

cool))) here it is the professional level)))
        Thank you for the clarification.

hello, I bought a Nikon 5300, it’s just a wonderful camera. You can play with any photo camera between two profiles. What do you think about this?

  • anonym

Nikon D2x cameras are no longer supported by the manufacturer either by spare parts or software - it is hardly possible to repair or change the shutter ... Therefore, the price for them is very low.

  • anonym

hello, I bought a Nikon 5300, it’s just a wonderful camera. You can play with any photo camera between two profiles. What do you think about this?

    • BB

I think that you need to buy grammar and spelling dictionaries, as well as make friends with logic and learn to clearly and clearly express your thoughts in writing.

Most readers of Radozhiva are not able to read thoughts, especially at a distance, and from your abracadabra, without punctuation, nothing is clear.

      • Yarkiya

You shouldn't be so 5300 and really the camera is wonderful, with the logic everything is in order, and even after the "profiles" period. :)

    • BB

and even the question is off topic ...
There is a Q&A section, as well as reviews of 5x00 series devices

    • Star boring. Igor

Of course, Dafay to fuss, you are the first!

  • Kira

    Hello!
I also have a question about the D7000 or D2x. Both that and another I can take at the moment only B. at. But the question is, in addition to photos, I am fond of short films and which model is better to choose? Unfortunately, in the next number of n-years it will not be possible to buy a new model, so I would like to take a combat vehicle. How is D2x with video?

    • BB

D2x does not have a LiveView mode, moreover, the video does not even smell there, it is a professional Photo Camera.
If you want a video, buy a video camera. Any.

The camera is primarily intended for photography. All Nikon CZKs have problems with autofocus when shooting video.

  • Andrei

I use D2x, a cool camera, the colors are nice. Autofocus is tenacious, even in poor light. Before that I used the D90, so after D2x I don’t want to take another camera in my hands :-)

  • anonym

I'll put in my five cents. I don’t do professional photography, but I can say “a very keen amateur”. I have visited different cameras, I will not say that there are a lot of direct ones; the first serious camera for me was a Zenit TTL DSLR with 44 gels, nothing bad to say about this camera is mute, everything was convenient in it, in fact, like in a modern digital SLR. True, there were no automatic modes, but there was an electronic exposure meter, displayed on the right. In the form of a vertical scale, in the middle of 0 (which means the metering is correct, however, as in any modern SLR, only horizontally). I shot not so many frames on it, about 500, it's funny of course, but if you consider (this is information for people who did not shoot on film) that there is 36k in one reel, and at the same time the footage must be given for development, wait ... Scan, and then consider your jambs, and think how to shoot further.

Then I had an old man, PENTAX SOPTMETIC-2, 72 years old. And here I realized how wretched my “very convenient TTL” was, you begin to understand what 100% frame coverage is, but at the zenith it is not. And the bright viewfinder, which is also a very useful thing, is dark at the zenith. I'm not talking about the sound of the shutter to the zenith, in comparison with the Japanese, it's like
slam the door of the refrigerator "Minsk", at long exposures it makes itself felt, the Jap had a pleasant rustle,
The next and very important thing is the "S" mode, aperture priority, you set the "hole" and the shutter speed itself
adjusts !!!, there was even exposure compensation! Well, the actual full analogy with the figure. There were unsurpassed
pluses, this is what everyone calls "skin tone" color rendering, natural colors. I didn't bother with BB at all. When the number appeared, the BB began to strain.

The first DSLR was the d40, then the d80, one of the best ssd cameras makes itself felt. Nice color, not very accurate exp. A lot of noises after 400, inconvenient screen. Then there were d90 and 2 pieces - so the most awful camera for me, the color, I don't know, well, very terrible for portraits.
Then there was d2h good colors, but in bb it was hard to get under difficult conditions, a small screen, 4 megapixels, it’s not enough too, then it was 7000, 2x and 300, I liked 300 most of all.

As for the 2x Combo, the case is comfortable, no doubt. But talk about reliability in extreme conditions cause laughter. It feels like everyone who writes about it takes off camels in the Sahara and former bears in Antarctica and sultry mulattos in Finnish baths for 12 hours.
Most or lovers who have a limited budget, well, in extreme cases, wedding people. I only once in my life talked with a pro photographer who takes pictures for good money. This photographer was shooting an item, jewelry, on a multi-funnel ff. Knowing his ganorar for the collection, I realized that paying a round sum for the equipment is not a problem.

    The conclusion from all this:

About the carcass, it's about…. in all respects only in its era, and after 10 years it only looks like a pro and lies in the hand like a pro

You take 5200 for them, take them for a regular barbecue evening, then you take d2 for them and you understand that:
The noise on small iso is just awful
If at the same time a lantern shines on a pole, sunset and light from a fire, the camera does not understand what to do and the BB is terrible. Watching material on a small screen is also not very pleasant.

So, if you know how to shoot, you don’t care what to shoot, and if you don’t know how, what’s the same anyway what to shoot.
Do not be mistaken that if you take the old pro, the output will be better than with a more modern amateur camera, if you are weak in photography, the newer technique will give you a more stable result to smooth out your mistakes. An exception, it’s only terribly slow, terribly noisy on medium and ISO, it immediately gives a good imprint, but it spoils my nerves, for me it's like going to a pensioner in the far right 40 km per hour, without the ability to overtake))))

    • Vitaliy U

Did you hold the Hearth in your hands to talk about its "brakes" and "eerie noises at medium ISO"? Camera (Propyatka) -portrait, sharpened for wedding-staged shooting, studio shooting, with all that it implies. It is not reportage at all and was not positioned as such by the manufacturer, even back in 2006. At ISO 1600, the noise in the images is very similar to film grain, but I don't shoot (I don't see ANY point in this) at ISO above 800, even on my super reportage d700 (no light, no color). The camera from the review is specifically a reportage (the speed of continuous shooting is proof of this). What is your speech? So do not mislead people with your “expert” five kopecks.

      • anonym

I kept about the heel, and you won’t believe even shot it! The debate on ISO is very relative, you can put ISO 80 on d1000 and at the same time shoot with a flash and the noise will be completely different from that in low light, but in the shadows there will be a mess. The pro heels have good dd and nice color, but you are right if you thoughtfully shoot in the studio or in good daylight when there is soft light, say right after sunset, when it’s still light, but there are no direct rays, or in cloudy weather when the light is scattered through the clouds. Why did he write about inhibition? Take about the heel and skadem 300, take off the first, and then immediately take the second, about the heel will seem like a turtle;), but with a good result. To each his own, I strain such brakes.

As for 2x and her reporting abilities. Oh yes, the shooting speed is like reporting. What about autofocus? Coverage of the frame with dots, and their tenacity, tracking speed, and indeed their number and ability to work in poor lighting? I think in fact, for reporting these parameters are more important than the series, well, of course, the serial speed should be at least 8 fps.
If you take into account all this, then at this price 300 breaks 2x, in general in everything.

And who told you that 700 is a super reportage? 700 is a very good camera (if you do not take colors into growth), it has been holding the brand for many years and is able to compete with new cameras in a number of parameters. Super reports, if we talk about Nikon, it’s d4, d5, d3s, and of course the camera with the largest d500 frame coverage, which costs less than $ 2000.

Let's speak for objectivity, and not praise what "I have"

        • Vitaliy U

I'm not going to "praise" something there, but I don't advise you to find fault with it. Here is a site for amateurs, people go for info, and not deep IMHO of some people who do not understand a particular camera. For q700 and its "super reportage": I forgot to put quotes (sorry) in the review above: it is far from reportage, although the professional camera (with q3, q4, etc. does not compete) ... but what about its color ? Again IMHO "five kopeck"? Or your color did not go from 700? So a complete network of examples of color, for good, pictures. And Arkady has a color from her (and what a color!). Now for d2x. And what is it (!!!) if not a reportage PROF camera ?! At the time of its appearance in 2004, WHAT was faster, faster, with “tenacious AF”? Examples of cameras! Today there are a lot of cameras better in all respects and all manufacturers, BUT ... in 2004? At the end of the article, the author wrote the same thing, in other words. For the Heap. What do I need to compare with what? I take d700 when I need a result at ISO above 1600, accurate AF in low light and, if I need (well, very much) a small depth of field (ff is ff). And I know that I will have to sit in the editor with Ravas. I take a heap when there is light and I don’t want to sit with Ravami - she shoots right in the camera, better than everything that I had before her! Without treatment at all. And her "brakes" - do not strain, and her honest 6MP - I don't bother, and the absence of any useful things (adjusting af, for example) - don't bother. In front of the monitor, processing a bunch of frames, much more time is lost (and vision, by the way). Your opinion will be read not only by beginners ... don't get excited when you write.

  • Alexander

Hello, can anyone have a protective screen on d2x, ready to buy ... or tell me where to find it, the camera has not been produced for a long time and I have not found a protective glass in stores ...
Call mobile 0938613837 or write to the mail, thanks in advance

    • anonym

glue tape or protective film for smartphone

      • Pokemon

By the way, write the case. I did this more than once - I went to a stall, bought a sticker for a smartphone for 500 rubles and glued it on for a screen. And on d2x the screen is small - one sticker is enough for 2 times at once.

        • Sergos

don’t be afraid to stick the usual adhesive - for a couple of years it’s enough, then wipe it with alcohol. stick it, slowly pressing it from the middle to the edges and pulling it up so that there are no bubbles. In extreme cases, you can pierce the bubble with a thin needle and straighten it

  • Alex

And I bought myself a used D2H, and to be honest, the camera is wonderful. She went through more than 100 thousand frames before me, she works, and the feeling when you take her in your hands ... just magical. And 4 Mpx on it is really very sharp 4 Mpx!

  • Zhenya

    Please help with advice:
I have NIKON D3100, I have been using it for about 2 years. And now the NIKON D2H camera came to my eyes and thought about its possible acquisition. But as they say in the famous film "plagued by vague doubts":
    1. The age of the chamber, judging by the dates of production, is about 10 years. Is the NIKON D2H morally outdated in comparison, at least with the younger, albeit amateur NIKON D3100.
    2. Confused by 4 megapixels. Of course, I’m not going to get banners, but nowadays modern phones have 3 times more megapixels. How good is the matrix in the NIKON D2H compared to the NIKON D3100?
    3. Did I understand correctly from the review - NIKON D2H can work with manual optics in aperture priority mode?
    4. Is there an autofocus trap on this camera? I read a lot about it in your reviews, but I never had the opportunity to try this function in practice.
    5. Does the screen display a histogram when viewing photos?
    6. The seller claims a camera mileage of 12 frames. Is there any way to check this? Is it possible to physically twist the counter to a smaller number of frames?
Sorry there are so many questions, but I have no experience using cameras other than the NIKON D3100 and a little Kenon 550D and there’s nobody else to ask. Help me please:)
And taking this opportunity, thank you very much for your work! The site is wonderful! :)

    • Bato

      1. Aged of course.
      2. If you need megapixels (and you want to have at least 10) look for d2x.
      3. And what is stopping her? Only the diaphragm will have to be manually set.
      4. And in English, how does this function sound?
      5. Yes, but given the size of the screen, this is of little use.
In fact, there is only exposure and focus, not focus, you can watch.
Well, the menu. Photos can actually be viewed only on a computer.
      2,5 ″ is very small.
      6. Given a margin of safety of almost 300 thousand, it’s more likely there
Electronics will die, than mechanical strength will end.
Well, if you don’t drop it.

      I have d1x changed to 10 megapixels.

      • Brownie

And how is it possible with firmware to change the number of pixels on the matrix?

        • Pawel

          very simple - interpolation rules

  • anonym

Hello! advise, please, I want to change your d90. I choose between d300, d300s and d2x. I shoot children, portraits, weddings. Fast focusing is very important.

    • Arkady Shapoval

D300 / D300s will be excellent solutions, there is a very advanced focusing system, one of the best, before the release of d5 / d500.

      • anonym

        thank you very much

all of you bypass the sony company / I started with Mavica in digital and with Smena2 in film. For 60 years of practice, I’m thinking something and I can’t understand the discussions around these well-known companies. Starting with sony a100 to
their time has ended .hfsselblad, leika use sony stuffing / and they are not fools in photography. post-processing in lightrooms and photoshop is a thing of the past. some acdsee is enough for cropping. all sleepyheads. and I apparently held 90 percent of their models in my hands. almost errors in the white balance, that is, there is a natural color rendition. have you written about Sony’s DSLRs or mirrorless mirrors now?

  • serg

mirrorless for the final result, i.e. the picture. starting with nex5n - just a small light miracle + the fact that the standard 18-55 or 16mm can be left as workers. the only drawback is that there is no status view. at weddings and on tourist trips it will not work. APSC-TAKE a77 on the secondary market - it can do anything and is cheaper than a Calabah. photographers with dynamic thinking have already realized and take sony - the choice of exmor hd and exmor bci is wide. and picking everywhere - shove any lens and rejoice. a77-12 k / sec \ new canon or nikon-champion-14 k / sec but also a champion at a price 20 times more expensive. dormouse is a minolta just for the beginning and then the revolution is coming ..

I have a D80. Offer to change to D2x. Is it worth it or not?

    • Pastor

With or without surcharge? What is the condition of your camera and d2x? What's in the box? By answering these three questions, you will greatly simplify the answer. In general, other things being equal, I would change for the speed of work and the ability to report, but whether you need such an opportunity - I don't know. For studio and leisurely shooting, the difference will be small.

      • anonym

With an additional charge of 150 baksey. I run 6 thousand with kopecks, D2x 110 with kopecks. Includes 2 batteries, belt and 3 pcs. CF of 4 giga 133x. And there is a glitch with recording the shooting date - it always writes the same one. But the shooting speed is really important to me.

        • Pastor

In principle, the price is adequate, but with mileage I won’t say so right away. It seems like your d80 is almost zero, and d2x is already poyuzanny. Of course, for d2, a run of 100 thousand is far from the limit, but still not a new camera. In general, it all depends on how and where the device was used. If it’s okay in the studio, or maybe they shot it in hot spots with him or in Antarctica. In general, you need to find out what's what, but in general the device is good.
And you also need to understand why you need d2x. At its price you can buy d7000, which in many ways is better, shoots quickly, there is video and life view, generally younger. Maybe the colors are wrong, but it's a matter of taste. Or canon 40d, 50d, 7d can be seen. Their rate of fire is excellent, but they are newer and have a smaller body, if without a block.

          • anonym

The use of D2 is mainly studio. The matrix is clean, everything is normal in hot / broken pixels.
I have a D5100 yet. The matrix is the same as in 7000. Skintons are just awful, as for me.
            There is still 300.
I think about D2x as if for the soul))) I would not buy, of course, but the exchange seemed to interest me, but something is gnawing at the worm of doubt. I understand, the machine is not a fluff) And if we take into account the difference in the class, then the deuce should run longer than eighty.
            So I decided to consult.

            • Pastor

Well, given the availability of newer technology, I would not hesitate to agree to an exchange. q5100 in terms of skintones clearly loses to q2x and q80. Considering your words about using d2x, it passes another 200 thousand without problems. And weight is not such a problem, you can get used to it over time. And the heaviness is felt only after 5-8 hours of wearing, if there are no such lengthy filming, then there will be no inconvenience at all.

I think about D2x as if for the soul)) I would not buy, of course, but the exchange seemed to interest me, but doubts gnaw at something. I understand that the D2 machine is not a fluff) But if we take into account the difference in the class, then the D2 should run longer than eighty.
            So I decided to consult.

I read here about the d80 - I get the impression \ that I was in an antique shop \ I kept a d2x with a mileage of 263000 - quite working \ but which lens you need to buy \ so that the pictures are sharp, this is definitely a sony7r carcass that can be purchased. Send you pictures with 7r + industar61ld \ 55mm-f2.8 \ which costs 10 cups of coffee maximum. the comrade will liquidate his d2x after the change turned up \ a couple of years and he will be taken as technical antiques in working order and d80 and d90 \ workhorse \ there. It seems to me all the time that the reviews of the authorities are paid for. look at the untouched RAW files. honest files \ so that they are \ if they are of high quality and do not need to be fiddled with for hours in lightrooms and photoshop - correct your mistakes in acdsee, say and buy the device is better not \ made in china \

I have on hand Nikon D2xs
filmed Mercedes fashion week and a couple of sets in the studio.
Well, from the balcony I shot as near the building the PBX was demolished.
And so - there is no point in shooting landscapes for them, there is no skin tone and there is a usual dd there and she often missed.
heavy reporting in the form of a passage of models on the catwalk is very weakly pulled even in the presence of very decent light on the catwalk, and it’s hard to focus on it. Well, few of the models adequately and for a long time posing at you in the middle of the aisle on the podium.
    reporting is not her business.
But here is where the camera came in, and even HOW !!!!
this is a backstage - shooting with a flash / softbox you get a gorgeous skin tone.
deep - just an epic color - really VERY strongly doubt that SUCH color will be given by my standard d700 on the same iso200. all the shots taken with the soft box - that is, in ideal conditions - is an extravaganza of color and film depth. gorgeous color. everything drags on. and there was a moment - some guys were shooting a model with a hoop pasted over with LEDs - the thing gives steep glare in the pupils - well, I did a couple of shots there.
one of these frames turned out to be 3 stops in excess. canonists cry)))
Nikon D2xs extended the frame and with some efforts and a couple of filters it turned out very worthy - especially looking at the results of the other guys who shot with more modern 5dmk3 / d4 carcasses on crazy iso2000.
I conclude - this camera is not for reporting, not for sports, not for landscapes - although this can be filmed too - but then any more modern carcass and mirrorless camera will do it on af.
this camera is for studio and people work. chic colors and especially skin tone. if you do not need carrots and green / purple mass and want to evaluate how you did the professional technique before (now you simply cannot get close to the professional technique - the same D5 about 500.000 rubles is just akhtung).
especially striking the final result. with good light, with good glass and straight arms, this machine will put many of its competitors (many of them only in museums) on the carpet, but much more recent representatives like d90 / d7000 / 5dmk3.
if there is an opportunity to get acquainted with such a camera - be sure to do it, WILL NOT REGRET !!!

      note - bought a Nikon D2xs and also owned a Nikon D2x.
so there are no differences. matrix.a.speed.processor.memory.
all the same. the petty difference is removed by the extreme firmware on D2x.
the only thing is that on D2xs the main display is slightly (I emphasize - a little) better.

      • Alexander

Alexei, do you happen to need another one?)

    • Koba

Dear Alexey 917, I think that your comment is the most accurate here. The fact is that today (I shoot with the D700 and recently bought a new one, and I have a Canon 5D3 with three super-expensive lenses and it starts to stand idle!) Downloaded the book Kroninger W. - Lighting - 2011 (available on the root tracker) and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that most of the pictures there were taken with special lighting and a D2xs + Nikon 35-70 / 2.8 kit, partly on the D3. Look at the colors of the pictures, at the photographs themselves, if you don't know what they were filmed with, you could freely think that only medium-format backdrops were used. Something tells me that in the senior cameras manufacturers used some other hardware and software tricks to get exactly the right deep colors, and volumetric or something. Here Canon of the first series produces much better in color and in all parameters of the picture than my 5D3, Nikon D3 gives out noticeably better colors in mixed lighting than my D700. Here's a look at what volume and color pictures Arcadia D2xs gave in the review from the usual 18-200! Is the difference really not noticeable, on other cameras, even average in terms of prices and purpose, the same lenses do not give such results. For some reason!

      • ы

Yes, I also noticed that on older cameras the color is fatter, kosher than on younger cameras.
There was an opportunity to compare the picture with D3s and D700. On D3s with the same glass, the picture is more “expensive”. Even DF differs in color from D4, although the matrices are identical.
I think somebody had experience with Canon 1Ds, 1Ds mk2, 1Ds mk3. On the first dime and five-dvak, the color is different. Any canon breeder with experience will confirm that in units the color is kosher and there is no fuss with the color - you do not need to pick raves for a long time, because on units they are ALWAYS better than on dimes. The same is with 1Dx and 5Dmk3.

        • Koba

Checked prices for D2xs in China today. I expected them to be very low, I was mistaken. In state 95-97 with mileage of about 10-15000 they cost about 500-600 dollars, that is, twice as expensive as D300 and almost reach the prices for D700 (I recently took my one for 650 with mileage 7000 and in condition 97, almost new). Why would it be? A monstrous overkill, I think. The Chinese are a very practical people, so who buys it for such prices? For 1000-1100 dollars almost new D3s are on sale, the same D600 costs about 750, as well as Canon 5D2 - about 800-850 ...

  • Alexander

I will sell nikon d2x, very good impressions, sale due to the transition to ff!
set: camera body, 2 batteries, cf 8gb card, original neck strap, charger, PC cord. I will send examples of photos taken by this camera to the mail.

Good night, read the reviews of D2x and xs, found my ideal). But, a very important nuance for me - is there an IR receiver on the D2x / xs for a remote control like the ML-L3? If not, please advise a wired cable that will be compatible with this camera. Thanks in advance for your reply

    • Michael

No. All older carcasses use a wired connector. Compatible cables MC-30, ML-3, MC-22.

      • Nick

Found 2 versions of MS-30. Nikon's original, MC-30 Hongdak Remote Switch - both with 10-pin connector. And Meike MC-30 is a different plug, somewhat similar to a headphone plug, but thinner. Will they both work, or do you need a 10-pin specifically?

        • Michael

Specifically, the 10-pin connector should be. The headphone plug is a cable for an adapter or other device. I have a similar connector in the GPS module, for connecting a cable when the connector is busy.

          • Nick

            Thanks for the answer

  • Andrei

Such a problem, help, can anyone come across a similar one.
He took pictures, everything was fine (D2X) and suddenly the viewfinder became cloudy and the camera stopped focusing, only from the extreme position to the extreme. What could be the problem? I will be very grateful for the answer and consultation!

    • Valentine

      Is the battery dead?

    • Valentine

Or muddy, not in the sense of dimming, but in the sense that the lens cannot focus?

      • Andrei

It is always on its own when there is a battery or without it, always clear and bright. And then suddenly a kind of matte shutter fell onto the viewfinder and, apparently, the camera cannot catch the focus because of it.

        • Valentine

I just guessed. Behind the focusing screen is an LCD that displays focus points and other information directly in the viewfinder. When there is a problem with the power supply or some other malfunction of this screen, “the image in the viewfinder will fade” (as written in the instructions for some Nikon cameras).

          • Andrei

Thank you, in any case, you have to carry to the service center. But I hope there is nothing serious and will not hit much in the pocket.

  • Ramis Ebellehovich

Why was it necessary to remove a wooden Pinocchio during the day at 1000 ISO and with a diaphragm of 5.6 ??? Or is it to show noise?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      That is how

  • Kolya

Earlier in Nikon they said - Krop for centuries.

  • Koba

Updating pricing information for D2x. In China today there are about 4 cameras on sale in the state of 98 or even 99, that is, almost new. And they all cost around $ 470. Even slightly larger than the D700 in the same condition. Amazing! The first Canon 5D is already priced at $ 250 in the same “almost new” condition (you can find it here too!).

    • Pokemon

Somehow they want something expensive for D2X / D2Xs.
Now the D700 and the second nickel have fallen in price.
Yes, and for the price Twos, you can buy a pair of D7000 or D7100.

  • Stew

I decide to exchange my mirrorless nex-c3, for two. At one time I took Sonya for $ 100)) 0))

  • Dmitriy

It's 19 years old and I bought myself a funny toy - D200x for $ 2. Honestly, I feel sorry for the people who were on Nikon in the mid-2000s. The matrix of this camera is initially, bad, much inferior to Canon 5D mark I. Purely camera part and in 19 - wow, good. For you to understand, the iPhone SE gives about the same picture. Moreover, native AI lenses on this camera work terribly - terribly chromate. I put, say, an excellent mega-sharp zoom 50-135 ais on D2 - red / green fringes around contrasting objects. And then - (via an adapter) on the Canon 1DS markII - and we see that the Nikon lens on the Canone gives a masterpiece picture, sharp across the entire field - everything is bad on D2x! Dullness, chromaticity ... with a luxurious macro 105 / 2.8, history repeated itself: on Canon it is better than Canon's 100 / 2.8, it rings with sharpness and contrast, on D2 - something incomprehensible.

But! For $ 200-350, this camera is a good gift to yourself. Aside from the nasty matrix, the rest is wonderful. If you take a photo for Instagram - more than suitable

Here is a test photo from him

  • Victor

Dmitry, well, not all the same men are sleevey! There are also clamshell ... s! Do you understand what this is about?

    • Victor

The author of this opus is so handy ... well, you understand that he didn't even manage to attach a "test photo". Not to mention the completely inappropriate "comparison" with full-frame canon, and, God forgive me, an iPhone))

  • Dmitriy

It's 2020, and I continue to use D2x for entertainment purposes. The quality of pictures from it is comparable to that of an iPhone. The only plus is that it does not have a noticeable response delay and you can use any Nikon optics that I have a car with. This image was taken by Nikkor 25-50 / 4 ai-s, iso 200, 1/125 f8, NEF, LR auto-correction, taken on a gray-gray day in heavy snow. A fun, cheap toy bought on an Ibe for $ 300 - 1/3 the price of an iPhone with amazingly accurate colors.

    • Ivan

I love this kind of weather, but are there serious photos from d2x?
