1. The lens is made of metal and glass, but the assembly can not boast of good quality. On my copy there is a strong backlash on the camera mount. The focuser ring is rubberized.
2. The depth of field is indicated for the values F4, F8, F11, F16, F22. Infinity on the scale of the distance of focusing begins after 2 meters.
3. The lens has multi-enlightenment. I therefore use older lens names in reviews, for example MS Mir-73N 2,8 / 20, since it immediately becomes clear from the name that the lens is with MS. The name Arsat N 2,8 / 20 gives less useful information.
4. MS Mir-73N 2,8 / 20 - the lens from film cameras can be safely used on a full frame. The lens is really wide-angle and gives a 94-degree field of view at full frame. The lens will be useful for camera owners Nikon D700, D800, D3(x, s), D4, on which it will give an extra wide viewing angle. Although, it is unlikely that anyone will use the cheap Mir-73 on very expensive devices. Amateurs usually use this lens on cropped cameras. EGF on a crop from Nikon it will correspond to 30mm. Crop factor makes a narrower angle of view, but still, even on Nikon DX cameras MS Mir-73N will be able to provide a sufficiently wide viewing angle for a number of tasks. Image quality:
The lens gives good image quality. It catches sunbeams, its MS weakly helps in the fight against strong counter-openwork light. The contrast is not very good. The lens gives a cool greenish tint to the image (bottle glass). It is recommended to use wide-angle lenses on covered apertures, as landscapes and architecture are usually photographed with their help. At F2.8, the sharpness is very good (which surprised) when shooting subjects closer than 2 meters. The lens delivers excellent sharpness at F8.0 on my cropped matrix. Strong HA I did not notice. Weak vignetting. The most important thing is distortion, there is distortion on the DX camera, but not too much, as for a 20mm lens.
Personal impressions:
It is very convenient to work with the lens. It gives a really wide angle on DX cameras, and this is a huge rarity for Soviet optics. But still, I personally use the zoom Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 to achieve a wide angle on my cropped cameras. Using MS MIR-73N is very simple take pictures with hand at slow shutter speeds, it wasn’t a problem for me to shoot on shutter speed 1 / 20c.

This lens is simply bad, it does not stand up to any comparison with Nikkors and other lenses of decent manufacturers with similar parameters ... And you can clearly see this in the pictures you attach - the lens is, to put it mildly, unsharp (by my standards) The curved shape of the aperture formed by the aperture blades (clearly visible in the picture) also says a lot. Apart from infinity, the sharpness in the center is quite normal by my standards: Photo 1, Photo 2. But, true, he is far from Nikkor.

You know, I have a CP Goerz Berlin Dopp-Anastigmat Serie III/2 DAGOR F=18 cm f/6,8 lens on a large format camera. Released in 1903 in Berlin, it is more than 120 years old and will give odds to many modern rubber-vaseline glass lenses. By the way, despite the fact that it has 4 tiny bubbles, it simply makes modern expensive glasses with the inscription “Aspheric”. There is also a Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar F=50 mm f/2 lens, released in 1941, so it has 6 bubbles and its image has not suffered in any way from this.
Of all the Worlds, I like Mir-24N MS. I still use it. It is easy to focus and the pictures are sharp enough. I looked at the replacement option (35mm / 1,8), but to pay extra 800-1000 UAH somehow the toad presses :) In addition to wide-angle lenses I also bought a Samyang 8mm fisheye with an autoexposure chip - this is a vashch !! :)) In our family, it's just the hit of the season!

This lens is phenomenal. But even if we compare it with it, then Mir-24 clearly loses only in contrast and resolution by 2,8-4. With 5,6 Mir-24 meets the professional criteria for clearance. Works just fine against light. If ours had learned to blacken the diaphragm, and not pour oil into the mechanisms with ladles ...
MS Mir-24 F=35 mm f/2,0 is a gorgeous lens! I compared it head-on with Nikon AF Nikkor F=35 mm f/2,0 D. As a result, Mir-24 won in all respects. Camera Nikon D 800 (36 mpix).
