Review MC Granite-11N F4,5 80-200mm
There are several lens modifications in which the devil will break his leg. The most common:
- MS Granite 11Н 4,5 / 80-200, then the lens began to be called ZOOM ARSAT H 1: 4.5 80-200mm. Although the names are different, it is one and the same lens.
- Granite 11Н 4,5 / 80-200, version of the lens with N mount (similar to Nikon mount), but without multi-enlightenment. The name can be found in Latin letters as Granit-11N 4,5 / 80-200
- MS Granite 11М 4,5 / 80-200, then the lens began to be called ZOOM ARSAT M 1: 4.5 80-200mm. Although the names are different, it's the same lens.
- Granite 11М 4,5 / 80-200, lens version for M42 thread without multi-enlightenment
- Granite 11-Automatic 4,5 / 80-200 for cameras Kiev-10 and Kiev-15.
- Granite-11 4,5 / 80-200 is the earliest version (shown in the gallery below). It has no multi-coating, it is designed for M42 threads. Perhaps a simple Granite-11 was also under the "N" mount.
- Granite 11А 4,5 / 80-200 is a rather rare specimen. Had MDF 2 meters, versus 1.2 meters in other modifications.
To summarize, there are basic modifications for the M42 thread and the H bayonet. The threaded ones are designated as "M", and the bayonet ones as "H". The confusion is added by the fact that after the collapse of the USSR, the Arsenal plant began to call the lenses "Arsat". Because, ZOOM ARSAT 80-200 and Granite 11 80-200 are the same lens with different names. And also, there were export options with the name Granit-11N in Latin.

This review presents exactly ZOOM ARSAT H 1: 4.5 80-200mm. This is the same lens as MS Granite 11Н 4,5 / 80-200. I already have a lens review ZOOM ARSAT M 1: 4.5 80-200mm, all the main points when working with the lens are painted there. Here I just describe the nuances of the H version.

View of MC Granite-11N F4,5 80-200mm from different sides on a modern camera
I will use the old name MC Granit-11N. The lens attracts with the ability to mount on modern Nikon cameras without adapters. MC Granit-11N has the same mount (mount to the camera) as the native Nikon lenses with F mount. MC Granit-11N is also AI-S lens for Nikon. I just took the MC Granite-11N and installed it on my camera. How to use old lenses on modern Nikon cameras can be found in the section Soviet optics. For use on Nikon cameras, I recommend the following lens versions: MS Granite 11Н 4.5 / 80-200, ZOOM ARSAT H 1:4.5 80-200mm, Гранит-11Н 4.5 / 80-200 they will allow you to get the ability to focus on infinity on Nikon cameras and do not require any adapters.

Sample photo on MS Granit-11N 80-200mm
Lens Granit-11 is the most popular Soviet telephoto zoom lens. It is very easy to find, the Internet is literally teeming with offers for sale. For me personally, ZOOM ARSAT M 1: 4.5 80-200mm was the first Soviet lens, I did not have infinity on my camera Nikon D90because I sold it.
Lens Features:
- Smooth focusing, focus ring travel: approximately 300 degrees. When focusing from infinity to MDF 1.2 meters, the lens changes its length by 3 centimeters. The focus ring is comfortable, rubberized.
- Internal zoom. When zooming, the lens does not change its size. When zooming, focus is lost.
- The diameter of the front filter is 58mm. Lenses have multi-enlightenment. When focusing, the front lens rotates.
- Aperture constant at all focal lengths
- Sharpness floats at different focal lengths
- The weight of the lens allows you to easily take off.

All photos without processing. Reduced size, added data from EXIF.
Image quality:
My first copy ZOOM ARSAT M 1: 4.5 80-200mm showed not very good image quality. But an instance from this review ZOOM ARSAT H 1: 4.5 80-200mm much better pleased with the quality. On F4.5 there is light software, but within normal limits. Very little distortion, the lack of vignetting on the crop and the huge focal length make it possible to get excellent portraits. HA and poor sharpness are the main disadvantages of the lens.

Sharpness MS Granite-11. No processing. Crop quality 100 percent

Conclusions:
MC GRANIT-11N - a good telezoom lens. There is a huge variation in quality due to long-term production and a number of lens modifications. If you get a good copy in your hands, then the image quality will please.

Their descriptions:
A somewhat confusing description of infinity:
> For use on Nikon cameras, I recommend the following lens versions: MC Granit-11N 4.5 / 80-200, ZOOM ARSAT H 1: 4.5 80-200mm, Granit-11N 4.5 / 80-200, they will allow you to focus at infinity on Nikon cameras and do not require any adapters
> For me personally, the ZOOM ARSAT M 1: 4.5 80-200mm was the first Soviet lens, I didn't have infinity on my Nikon D90, that's why I sold it.
The first paragraph is clear - Nikon has infinity out of the box.
The second paragraph can be interpreted as you like:
- there was no infinity on ZOOM ARSAT М 1: 4.5 80-200mm
- there was no infinity on the Nikon D90
- sold ZOOM ARSAT М 1: 4.5 80-200mm
- sold Nikon D90
And the most important thing: why was there no sharpness, who was to blame - the lens or the carcass?
ZOOM ARSAT M implies that this is a lens under the M42, therefore there was no infinity. Do not confuse ZOOM ARSAT M and ZOOM ARSAT N. That's the whole answer.
Arkady, the first Granity-11 were suitable for three systems at once: NIKON, M-42, Kiev10,15. (From “Arsenal” they were equipped with a SET OF ADAPTERS !!!) Which adapter was attached to the “tail” initially, depended on the mood of the picker! :-) PS C, I have great respect for your work. Keep it up ! Well done ! :-)
The first Granites (GRANIT - 11) had replaceable liners in the kit, for M-42 and NIKON with Kiev-10,15. This is not reflected in the labeling. These lenses are suitable for NIKON, while maintaining infinity. This information must be remembered and not discounted. Conclusion: THE FIRST GRANITS-11 ARE SUITABLE FOR NIKON WITH AN INFINITY PRESERVATION!
I confirm - I searched for a long time and found Granit-11 # 790139 M42 shank focuses to infinity through a simple bare adapter to Nikon
I was looking for just such because interested in shooting through the converter K-1 MS
Skilki can be worth such OB'ЄKTIV! May in the IDEAL STANI WITH A TUBUS TO NEW !!! USSR to navigate the new sight without a scratch! Dyakuyu.
I bought for 1200 Russian rubles.
I would buy for 1000 no more. there are very mixed reviews here ...
Everything depends primarily on the safety of the specimen. If the lens is stored in a cold and damp place, there will be mold on the lens inside. If children played them, then tryndets the lens. If it was disassembled by some homebrew “master”, then this is no longer a lens. And many different ifs. You need to choose a lens in excellent safety, which was stored correctly and which has never been subjected to internal interference - then the glass will please. There is just a HUGE difference between a factory-adjusted and perfectly preserved lens and a ditched owner. One will be a lens and the other is just junk. That's the trick in choosing a good lens. And then the price will be completely different, and not junk.
Hello! Do not tell me which lens will be better, Tele 200-35 or Granite 11?
Tell me, Granite-11 is compatible with canon 750d
You need to use an adapter.
But tell me how to choose between tair 3 and granite 11
And for what?
tair-3 is an absolutely magical lens but rather bulky. and it is 300mm fixed. image quality is head and shoulders above that of granite. ideal for work on birds and small animals. but in everyday practice it is not so applicable.
on the other hand, the granite-11, being a vario lens, covers many more scenarios. as for a zoom, it's sturdy, inexpensive, reliable, fairly versatile, and the picture is still quite interesting.
so choose)
Is it worth taking this lens for nikon 1 j1 along with an adapter? Or will it work crookedly with nikon 1?
Do not be.
For Nikon 1 j1, look at the lighter fixed lenses.
need a lens with ~ 70-200 80-300 mm. Can you advise in this price range with granite?
Which system?
Nikkor 1, nikon, 1 j1
In any case, with an adapter
which will be better under nikon 1 j1: tokina SD 70-210mm f4-5.6 or zoom arsat 11 h 80-200mm? Well, if not these two, then what can you recommend CHEAP zoom lenses ranging from 70-300mm?
The native Nikon 30-110mm f / 3.8-5.6 VR Nikkor 1 will be the best, it can be found on Avito for 4-5 thousand now. For this money, something better is unlikely to be found, and worse is very likely. Autofocus and stabilizer, again.
it is difficult to find such an alder in good condition, and the budget is 2 times less)
Yes, and no cars needed. I want a lens for a leisurely photo shoot, in manual mode, all these things are simply not needed
I watched it recently. The focusing wheel rotated with a creak, did not take. I hope that this was a jamb of a specific instance.
Greetings. Who can tell you, there are two Granit 11n lenses in a state of new, I decided to sell one and was faced with the fact that they are slightly different, now I don’t know which one to leave or keep both :) Lenses for one year of manufacture 87g. the difference in number is about 100 and the instruction is in different colors.
In the photo I tried to show the difference between them.

Move them to the same focal length and they will be the same :)
They won’t, I checked it right away. both lenses at infinity. Here are some more pictures found on the net.

Hello Arkady, not so long ago, by chance I got into my hands as a gift a Granit lens 11 still in the early years of production (my copy is 84), the quality of the lens body itself is beyond praise, which cannot be said about the sharpness of this glass, I have a question for you, Is it possible to improve the sharpness of images using, for example, cpl filters? Or it will not give a positive result ,? (I plan to work with this lens on the Sony A 65 system, through an appropriate adapter), in any case, thank you very much for your answer ...
You can only cover the aperture and sharpen the sharpness in the RAW converter, the filters will not help in this matter
Regarding infinity on Nikon's carcasses; lenses Granit11 aka
Arsat N 80-200 / 4,5 in later issues has a feature - inaccurate setting of the front lens unit in the lens barrel at infinity due to large tolerances. This is easily remedied by deepening the front lens unit in the frame and vice versa. You can do it yourself, at home in 5 minutes. Write, I'll tell you if you're interested.
Please write, I really need
Hello, write how to adjust to infinity, I shoveled a lot on the Internet, I did not find this information (
Hello, please tell me how can I fix this error
sharp, especially at f 8 razor sharpness, my copy
Made in Ukraine
Well, I’ll make my 5 cents.
Just the other day, I got Granit 11 for permanent residence. Alas, I can’t say the year of release.
after reading the review, I was a little at a loss. Today he tested it all day (albeit on film Zenith B), in general, the review says that sharpness disappears when zooming. Sobsna, the first thing that made me happy with this "gun" was that when zooming, sharpness does NOT disappear - I pointed that tree in the distance at the vooon, zumanul and focus where it was. And second, the distortion (kick) on the sides is very noticeable at low FR. Well, the focusing ring is not rubberized.
Otherwise, everything seems to be the same as in the description. Perhaps this is exactly the same number 6 - the very first version of the lens released. Maybe someone will be useful.
I'll add my comment too. I also have exactly "Granite 11 N MS" (judging by the number 87). The author of the test is "Arsat", and they (like "helios81n and arsat 50mm) have differences. As a person wrote in a previous comment, the sharpness does not fall when zooming, the resolution drops a little (but this is also written in its technical characteristics (in the center 50-30, but the edge is not changeable 20). Further I don’t know how Arsat has, but Granit 11H has a problem when landing on Nikon cameras. The aperture jumper foot rests against the contact area in the camera, and therefore, as expected at f4,5, the lens is not set, it is set at f22, but the aperture does not work (the hole remains open all the time It is treated by sawing the edge of the foot (according to the standard, it should be 8mm for Nikon, and for granite it should be 9-10). The ring with a pseudo AI cut is even thinner than that of the "Helios 81H", so the foot (for me) slipped (there were not enough microns) , was cured by sticking a thin strip of scotch tape on the edge where the foot touches the cutout. But the cutout seems to be somewhere 1/4 millimeter deeper than necessary and the values are transmitted with a lag of one notch (although it can be seen that there is a little bit of missing by the fact that bringing to the edge f22 (value from is displayed as f11) slightly push past the stop and the value changes to f22.
The picture is not bad enough volumetric. Here's an example: at 100mm f4,5 and 200mm f8 and for comparison at 200mm f8 I shot 80-200 2,8D ED (two-ring with a screwdriver) on a nickel.

Good day.
Faced such a problem.
I got 11N Granite in the NOS state. When installed on a Kiev-19 camera, the blinker works after 2 times for the third, on the Nikon-7000 the same.
I have already read about the length of the leash, compared it with the leashes on Helios-81 and Kaleinar-5n. Everything is the same everywhere - 8,1 mm.
When unscrewed, everything is almost normal - the petals move easily, but sometimes it wedges at f22, the diaphragm closes, but the leash cannot be moved by hand. If you tug it back and forth with your fingers, it "comes off".
But the leash on Granite has a transverse play. Maybe that’s the reason?
Is this generally fixable?
You can, of course, cut off this leash, but this is the last thing ...
Maybe the petals are very oily.
Perhaps there is still a backlash of the diaphragm leash inside the lens, because of which it is slightly twisted and wedged. The famous sore of many Arsenal lenses.
It is necessary to disassemble, clean, where the oil has leaked, level where it is crookedly fixed, where something hangs, tighten.
Thanks for answers.
Petals are clean. But when they close, the sound is quite characteristic. If Helios and Kaleinar close silently, granite clicks.
Tell me how to get to the mechanism, unscrew the shank?
He took off the leash of the diaphragm.
I installed the lens on the camera.
In "A" mode, the camera determines the aperture size ...
What is it like? through metering?
Through rheostat.
Good afternoon. Tell me. I want to take the Granite 11 on the Canon M100, through the adapter. Will it fit?
Yes, it does. Just find out what type of mount it will be for, they come under M42 and Nikon. In any case, there are adapters.
Thank you very much. And as I understand it, on the cropped M100 the focus will be a little higher? (While mastering photo business)
Despite the fact that the lens is made for a full frame, the width of the picture will be the same as with lenses for crop at the same focal lengths.
Will this lens fit for cues 15 ??
No.
please tell me which is better - granite 11 or nicon 55-200 vr?
55-200
Good day. Offer Granite 11n 88g.v. version of the MC. New condition, original packaging with the entire set (filter, cover, instructions, etc.). It feels like it was taken out of the box for the first time since '88 for a photo for sale. Give away for 2500r. As if not particularly needed, but the condition is rare, and the bayonet Nikon. Camera D5200, there is Arsat H 50, Jupiter 37, 18-105.
For that kind of money, in a state of a collector's item, I would even take it just like that) I was not in perfect condition and he was very successful and sharp.
Hi all. You can take for inexpensive ZOOM ARSAT H 1: 4.5 80-200mm
There are several questions about this.
I have Nikon D5300.
Will there be infinity? Will the focus get lost when the zoom is changed?
Will there be focus confirmation?
Will he see the diaphragm and control it?
Infinity will be.
There will be no focus confirmation as on autofocus lenses.
She will not be in control. You have to install it manually
When zooming, the focus gets lost, as far as I remember. More than 20 years ago yuzal.
I am from Kiev. In the early 80's I bought a "Granite" for my "Praktika-L", a Gedeher camera. It cost a lot: 400 rubles. From the very beginning, I realized that the lens did not meet the specified characteristics. I did a home test, which confirmed my suspicion. I turned to the warranty workshop of the Arsenal plant and a month later they told me that the defect could not be eliminated and the only thing that could be done for me was to return the money. And so my acquaintance with this lens ended. Probably this product is not as good as described here.
He's not good at all, I must say. Plus, there is a standard place for owls. product quality variation.
And I bought a secondhand one converted from Nikon to M42) And the picture from it really suited me, very smooth blur and interesting colors, warmish by default, soft. By the way, if you get into focus, its sharpness was very good, at least at 20d it pulled everything well)
Yes, I also saw the footage on the M42, the film was very sharp, a successful copy. The fact is that I bought mine for Nikon directly at the Arsenal store in 2000. It was clearly assembled from the remnants of Soviet “luxury”. I didn’t try it on digital, because... sold the lens.
Good afternoon!
The review indicates MDF 1.2 meters, in the photo the sharpness scale starts from 1.5 meters, but were there modifications with MDF 1.2 meters?
