Lens World 24N, presented in this review, has the type N mount and can be installed on modern Nikon SLR and digital SLR cameras without any adapters while retaining the ability to focus on infinity, as well as with automatic iris control. It was released at the Arsenal plant, Kiev. Arsat H 2/35 - this is the same World 24H, just a later release.

Main advantages:

  1. Aperture, which can help in low light conditions. Moreover, it is already fully open quite sharp in the center of the frame.
  2. Control. The auto iris on the Nikon system is a very convenient thing. Also, the focus is very smooth. True, the diaphragm cracks when torsion of the corresponding disk.
  3. The closest focusing distance of 24 cm is good news.
  4. World 24H becomes standard lens with a viewing angle as for 50mm on cameras with a cropped matrixTherefore, it can be used as a regular lens for all occasions.
  5. Ability to use at full frame. For those who have Nikon D700, D3(s, x)
  6. The assembly of glass and iron, which will survive the Chinese plastic, as well as us.

The main disadvantages:

  1. Chromatic aberrations, especially around the edges of the frame.
  2. Distortion, even on the crop it can be seen.
  3. Poor in lateral and back light. Although it has a multilayer enlightenment. I shot a wedding for them in the church, because of the light through the windows the whole picture lost its contrast very much.
  4. After 3 meters, “infinity begins” very quickly on the focus and getting into sharpness is quite difficult.

The lens is very well shot down, all made of iron. My copy of 1993 release, as evidenced by the first two digits of the lens number. The lens looks great on the camera due to the large diameter of the front lens and its pinkish-purple color due to multilayer enlightenment.

About the picture: bokeh for everybody, not good and not bad. 35mm portraits are quite risky business. Firstly, you need to get close to a person, secondly - excess distortion, and thirdly - not the best bokeh.

How to use on modern digital SLR cameras? The ideal option is to install the Mir-24N lens on a Nikon camera, this is due to the fact that the lens is from Kiev cameras, which have the same mount as Nikon. When used on Nikon, the automatic iris control will work - you can focus with the aperture fully open and at the time of shooting the camera will close the aperture to the desired value. More details on how to use old optics on Nikon in my article Soviet optics.

Here a small comparison of the sharpness of two 35mm Nikkor 35mm F1.8 G and Mir-24 lenses.

To open the original image on 24 MP click on the picture or this link. The test was carried out with a tripod - Nikon D90, 2s, ISO 100, F2.0, RAW, converting and gluing in JPEG Q80%, several pictures were taken in Live View mode for accurate sharpness and the best result was chosen. As the test showed, Nikkor turned out to be much sharper at 2.0 for the World-24. You can judge the bokeh yourself.

From personal experience: the lens gives an excellent viewing angle on the multi-sensor and can be used as a fast wide-angle lens in full frame. But I didn’t really like it, most likely that my native Nikkor 35mm F1.8 gives extreme sharpness and excellent light holding on any aperture and is not expensive at all.

You can view sample photos on Mir-24N below. Everything is shot in RAW, conversion to JPEG Q80%, auto levels, resite 1600 * 1200 + watermark.

If you are interested in the MS-24N 35 2 lens, you can purchase it by contacting the contacts in the manual optics section.

Hack and predictor Aviator: lens can be used as a regular with a nice viewing angle on the cropped matrix, or as a wide-angle fast aperture in full frame. The lens is interesting for its aperture and the ability to easily use a lens of this class on the Nikon system for absolutely no big price.

Today I bought such a lens in a new condition in 1988 for 2000 rubles and put it on a Sony a7 ii through an adapter and I can say that the picture is awesome from this glass

  • Alexander

Recently, a lens was purchased from this review. Mir24N. At first I really did not like him. I already wrote in another topic that he does not have infinity in the open. What is he washing. But today I took him to the shooting of baptism. And guys, I’ve come home now, I’m watching photos and I just have goosebumps. This is such an incredible picture! Before that, I had already shot baptisms for Soviet optics, namely for fifty dollars, but since you can’t turn around with a 50 mm crop, I didn’t beat them much. And today I completely removed the baptism on Mir24N 35 mm. This is just unbelievable. I feel that this is now my favorite lens for such shooting in a cramped room and without light.

    • Volodimir

And why did those “goosebumps appear”?

  • nikita

Please tell me, through which adapter can I fasten to kenon? And will there be infinity?

    • Alexey

There are such adapters on alik, costing about $ 8

      • Alexey

        And yes, infinity is present

  • Sergei

Is there a difference in picture between this lens and the Yongnuo 35 mm f / 2, which is preferable for purchase?

    • Rodion

Better yong. The world is clearly worse.

      • Alexey

Radion, what about color rendition. I have a bunch of s5 pro and MS MIR-24M color rendering and naturalness +++.

        • Igor N.

          Alexey, I also have s5pro,
So do you recommend Mir24n to buy?
          Looking for a 35mm fix...
          I choose from nikon 35/2 D, nikon 35 / 1.8g
          and peace24n ...
          Manuality does not bother.

        • Rodion

Give comparative tests showing that Mir-24 is better than Yong. So far, commentators do not indicate what exactly the Chinese “does not reach” the world.

          • Yuriy

Mir24 will outlive us, but Yong is unlikely.

            • Viktre

The "best before" rating on a lens's list of virtues is usually in line for image quality and ease of use.

          • Human

If manuality does not bother you, then MB makes sense in the world, since personally in 35 / 2,0 Yonge I am very infuriated by a loose trunk with a front lens and a focus ring, it is very inconvenient to focus manually with it. If you take a picture from a tripod, then under its own weight, the above-described design constantly knocks down the focus. My opinion - yong is only for autofocus, the world has not tried

      • turantino

Better WORLD, yong is clearly worse.

    • turantino

I bought MIR-24N 2/35 for a D3100 crop for $ 45 at a consignment shop - and then Yongnuo YN50mm F1.8N lies on the shelf. He falls short of the WORLD from the word at all. 35mm from Yongnuo was sold earlier and forgotten as a bad dream ...

      • turantino

MIR-24N 2/35 on a permanent basis became on Nikon D40 - KMK, the ideal combination of camera + lens ...

    • Volodimir

I think it’s colossal, there’s porridge smeared around the edges on the 24th with a vector in the kut, it really stirs up interest to the new

  • Artyom

    MS MIR-24M
It does not focus beyond 50cm, and as I understand it, adjustment is needed
Does anyone have a normal adjustment guide for this lens?

    • Jon

Hi Artyom, I'm a bit late here but I thought I would reply for anyone wondering how to adjust this lens.

I had the same issue when I got my Mir-24h. It's been years since I've adjusted it but what you have to do is remove the rubber grip on the focus ring. Be careful not to damage it. With the rubber grip removed you will see there are multiple screws on the focus ring.

Mount the lens to your camera and make sure you can see something at infinity. Then set the lens to wide open and focus to infinity. Then loosen the screws on the focus ring until it moves without the focus moving. Then move the focus ring a little towards the 5-meter mark. Now tighten down the screws on the focus ring.

You should now be able to focus to infinity and maybe a little beyond. Repeat the steps to get the focus just right. I left mine so it hit infinity at the 5-meter mark to accommodate different adapters.

I take no responsibility for anyone breaking their lens when trying this procedure.

  • Igor

Yesterday arrived the 24th - awesome drawing, super MDF, at F2.0 it blurs perfectly, the only drawback is the light aperture blades. Excellent glass - modern people don't paint like that !!!

  • Denis

Hello. I bought myself a Mir-24N. Someone from the owners can tell you how to get the lens from the aperture blades. There are small shavings from the petals inside, I can't get it. The two front lenses can be easily removed - I took it out and cleaned it, but I can't figure out how to remove this one.

  • Nicholas

And as for me, the picture of Mir 24n at aperture of 2,0 Nikon D90 is better. Somehow brighter ... more contrast ... livelier. Than on Nikon 35-1,8G.

  • Eugene

In 2021, Mir-24n costs 6-7 tr, and Nikkor 35 / 1,8g on the secondary market for 7-8 tr you can safely take

  • Dmitriy

Tell me who has experience in using, which is better to take: this world-24n or say nikkor 35 f \ 2d.
The presence of autofocus is not important because I shoot with a film nikon f3.
I would like to try an angle wider than 50mm, but not to overpay right away.
    Thank you.

ps: or, you can recommend fix 35k from other manufacturers. Thanks again!

  • Moonraker

It is strange that he is so close in sharpness to Nikon, I remember when I had it, I replaced it with pre ai Nikkor and he did not just humiliate him, he destroyed both in sharpness and in contrast

It’s a pity that at one time, when I literally lived with Kiev-19, I didn’t come across such a lens. It was 90 years, I lived in Vladivostok and then there was a dominance of imported equipment. In photo magazines, diligently about ... for the sake of Soviet glass - well, it was their job, they promoted advertising. Nikonovskoy 35/2 and 28/2,8 did not fit in Kiev. The mount is screwed with difficulty and the sharpness was wadded. And we don’t have such photo flea markets as in Kiev or Moscow.
Later, at the Pentax Center, I realized the difference with Soviet glass. Our optics gives a certain lively and soulful color. For the landscape, it may not always be necessary, but the portrait (on the bus) “our” glass does better than the branded super enlightened one. A person turns out to be directly alive, without super and micro contrasts.

  • Dmitriy

I'll add my 5 cents to this lens. In general, he is relatively good. Bokeh is not bad (medium, well, normal), sharpness is also not bad. But the picture is dull. What is sad? Some kind of indistinct color rendition or something ... That is, you look at the photo, everything seems to be in place, but you don’t want to look ... I also shot video on it, I shoot musicians indoors. Another camera shoots for fifty dollars Canon FD SSC There, the image is much more interesting, fuller or something ... Something like that. This is probably a purely situational lens. There are lenses that will decorate almost any scene. And there are those under which this plot must be found by yourself, and then it will be revealed. This is one of those glasses, apparently.

    • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

Canon FD 35mm. ssc - is considered perhaps the best 35mm wide-angle of all imported equipment of those years, and it is still relevant to this day. So our World 24. of course will look pale compared to this masterpiece.

  • Ilya Mikhailovich

I have had this World since 1993, at first I usually worked on film Nikon in reportage shooting, after 2010 I often put it on cropped Nikon. The sharpness is such that autofocus is not needed! As for chromatic aberration, it is only visible at very high magnification. I screwed on the nozzle to get a wide crop on the crop, from aperture 5,6 everything is sharp all over the field!

    • B. R. P.

“The sharpness is such that autofocus is not needed!” Yes, you are a magician.

  • Alegas

Mir 24H becomes the standard lens with the same angle of view as 50mm on crop sensor cameras

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WROTE 😂

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Yes, I can explain

  • Vladimir

Hello Arkady. Do you happen to have any information about using the MC Mir-24M 2/35 lens for infrared photography (my camera is Canon 550D)? The network has only a list of modern lenses that are suitable for this purpose. I mean the appearance of a light spot in the center of the frame. The ideal option is to take a Canon 50 / 1.8, but given the focal crop factor is large, I would like it to be smaller. And Sigma 18-50 / 3.5-5.6 is almost impossible to find ...

  • Victor

It is a pity that our esteemed Radozhiva does not have an overview of the Mir-24M. Can someone tell me what is the difference and can I put it on Nikon without adapters? Thank you!

    • Andrii

You can hang and look around.

    • B. R. P.

      Thread M42. No adapter whatsoever.

  • lens baby

It was a long time ago, I got rid of it without regret.
This is a poor lens, the price of which is 50 bucks, if it’s ideal. You need to add soft edges to distortion and aberrations, even at 8-11 apertures, even on crop!
The only + is increased aperture and MDF, but this is too little.
there are a lot of Japanese ones that are better and even cheaper..

    • Rodion

In the USSR, due to the degradation of the school of optics calculations, the stagnation of glass making and other factors, there was not a single truly high-quality wide glass. The limiting STK was STK9/19 1.744 50.2, and in the USSR they tried to use super-heavy crowns in civilian life to a minimum, and since the 1950s the Japanese have had glasses like 1.816 46.5, 1.79 49 - the benefits from their use are enormous. It was the development of glass melting (as well as multilayer coatings) that gave rise to an explosive growth in the number of wide-angle high-aperture and ultra-wide-angle lenses in the 1960-1970s in Japan.
