Nevertheless, I do not recommend it for facial portraits - few people like excessive sharpness on the skin, because in the examples of photographs only nature.

The lens has a good contrast transmission and resolution even at the edges of the frame (on the crop matrix so precisely). Resolution center / edge 45/28 l / mm. The bokeh is plastic, but due to the design of the diaphragm it seems that in the background there is a grid that is blurred, for a portrait this is not the best option. Lateral and back light keeps tolerably, but not perfectly.

1. Small aperture. Nowadays, fixes with 50mm usually have from 1.4 to 1.8 aperture, which is one stop more than Industar 61 LZ. Aperture Industara is explained by its optical scheme, which is aimed at achieving a sharp image, and not at increasing aperture ratio.
2. The number of aperture blades is only 6 pieces and its appearance is rather strange.
3. Front thread at 49mm, which is not very nice when there are a lot of filters for 52mm.

Lenses with mounting thread M42 (M42 X 1 / 45.5), such as the lens from this review, are very easy to use on almost any modern digital camera (both SLR and mirrorless), for this it is enough to choose the right adapter (adapter). You do not need to carry out any additional steps to modify the lens.

I unscrewed the bolt from the focusing unit that locked the ring at infinity and MDF - it began to rotate from ALPHA CENTAURA to 10 cm. The MDF decreased, but far from infinity.
I cut off the adjusting ring, up to 0,7, while at first I tried to remove it, but the diaphragm ring jammed at “infinity”, but !!!! and at the same time, the diaphragm was jammed. I had to unscrew all the small bolts on the diaphragm ring and turn the ring to the end and return it 90 degrees back (naturally, the mark left, made a new one) it was very difficult to assemble the entire structure in place the first time.
The M42 threaded bayonet made 0,5 mm thinner, it protruded nevertheless from the body, it became flush, the rear lens unit came out another 0,5 mm.
Well, the last thing we had to start with, but how it happened it happened, I put on the M42-Nikon adapter the back cover from the lens and to the damn mother I erased the entire wide ring on the emery to the side, i.e. reduced the adapter by 1 mm in height, the hole disappeared into which the pin from the carcass enters, sawed a new one in the rear flange of the lens after reconciling the place.
I didn’t take a photo of the process, but I photographed a 2,8 km mountain located five kilometers from me on my face, individual trees are visible, 5,6-8 is even better on the diaphragm, of course the infinity ran over, precisely because I had to start with an adapter, now I am suffering from another problem I can’t pull out neither the rear nor the front lens blocks jammed them specifically, but inside the roofing felts the dust is covered with sawdust from the diaphragm (I do not see it in the photo, but the fact itself), we will suffer.

I have an Industar 50-2. I made an adapter without a wide plate. Theoretically, Nikon's flange is 46,5 mm, and for optics on M42 - 45,5. This millimeter must be compensated for by the thickness of the ring, which is now missing. But, in reality, max. the focusing distance has become, maybe, 3 meters, but not infinity.
By the way, not every lens will succeed in sharpening the bayonet, some of them are very thin there, the bayonet may fall off after the groove ...

When choosing, pay attention to the absence of disassembly traces (screws-slots), if disassembled and sold - it means something is “wrong”, better not take it. I do not advise buying from dealers, where the price is always too high, and the result is absolutely unpredictable.
Ask the grandfathers of former photographers, they have all the lenses checked for a long time and the price is likely to be acceptable.
