The lens is almost completely fixed HA. Distortion is very small, not very different from other fifty dollars. Of course, aperture fails a little, but the Tessar scheme does not allow particularly fast lenses. Focus ring Industar-50-2 rotates approximately 320 degrees, which makes manual focusing very smooth and enjoyable. When focusing, the trunk of the lens lengthens by about one centimeter, while focusing front lens rotates. The depth of field scale is indicated for aperture values of F / 3.5, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16. Compared to other fifty dollars, Industar-50-2 a rather large depth of field at F / 3.5 (seen in the picture above).

But the lens aperture control ring is quite inconvenient. It is located in front of the lens. To see what aperture value is set, you need flip the lens front lens to yourself. Iris control is smooth, without fixed values - you can set any intermediate value of the F number from 3.5 to 16.0. When focusing, the aperture control ring is very, very rarely touched. For some SLR cameras (for example, with the Nikon F-mount), you need to use adapters with a corrective lens, which allows you to focus correctly at all focusing distances. The sharpness of my industar copy was not impressive. I shot objects 100 meters away from me, the carcass was 16 megapixels. At 3,5 aperture, there is unexpectedly strong soap throughout the frame, you can resize to 4 megapixels or for social. networks without loss of quality. The maximum sharpness is reached at 5,6 and remains stable until 11. at 16, soap appears, but 2 times less than at 3,5. Still the right extreme side is not sharp until 11.
Sony 16-50 3.5-5.6 whale blinozoom at 50mm focal length has the same maximum sharpness. Industar is only a little sharper at 5.6, since for a cetacean this is the maximum open diaphragm, and at 11 a whale diffraction begins.
