Familiarity with the Soviet Helios brand lenses I recommend starting with an inexpensive and common lens Helios-44-2 2/58 (aka HELIOS-44-2 2/58). The following links can look at modern lenses Zenitar и HELIOS.
I wonder if, say, the Hoya HMC UV (C) Filter 52mm filter is suitable for this lens, the thread is similar to 52 mm.
Yes, it’s suitable, I just screwed up a 52mm protective filter on the Helios-44m, which I’m testing.
I agree that the author is not the best option, I came across a completely new lens, screwed it through the adapter with a dandelion on the canon 600d. On the open, everything is just super, the photos are clear. The only thing to consider is that you had to drown the aperture pin (I don’t know how to name it , the one that is on the thread side) and stick it with sticky foil, otherwise the diaphragm was always open, although I personally took this lens for the sake of F2.
Arkady, if it's not difficult, can you tell us more about the pin? I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong…. I can't figure out how all this works ... the diaphragm does not respond, the ring is scrolling, but the result is zero - you cannot see how the diaphragm works and the result is zero in the images, only minor displacements on the single-channel histogram ...
Alternatively, a “mile” copy, a protest and a copy of the original canon 50 / 1.8
It befits me to build with melancholy moods, to beat the mood b-w. The color in the new one is not “perfect”, either way, add it to the FS / LR, or the primuso drive the color. I trim yogo for alternative to “fifty kopeck” kenon.
Men tezh not fucking varіant caught (for the butt photo http://500px.com/photo/7246507), on the pin of the diaphragm, one after the other, having twisted, having pulled the rod of the rod of the handle.
Hi, I'm new. I use the Nikon d3100 18-55 camera. I wanted to try shooting on Helios, but the problem is that I don’t know how to attach it to the Nikon d3100 carcass.
Tell me please. Thanks in advance))
If you have one, then just take the adapter KP-42 / N (also called M42-Nikon). In general, everything is written in the article how to install it on Nikon, read it carefully. If you don’t have a G-44, then I recommend Helios-81n for Nikon, no adapters are needed for it.
Hello. I bought myself one. It’s a bit soapy on aperture 2.0 (as you wrote above) Can I fix it somehow? And there will be infinity if done like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8la9fdmvPw ? Thank.
Must be.
And you can put such a hood on it http://aukro.ua/rezbovaya-lepestkovaya-blenda-58-mm-v-nalichii-i2458473719.html ?
No, the lens has a different thread for the filter.
Hello, Arkady.
Thanks for the useful articles! I read and re-read them regularly. So far no questions have been raised.
But he became interested in tilt-shift photography. Corresponding lenses are expensive enough to just indulge, so I am looking for other options.
One of the cheapest options is to construct such a lens from manual optics.
For example here http://photo-element.ru/ts/tilt-shift/tilt-shift.html The modification of the HELIOS-44 lens is described.
Therefore, I ask my question in the current topic.
The question is actually the following. Is there any experience with using such a lens or other possible options for old Soviet optics?
I would like to know what of the budget tilt-shift options is worth the time spent?
Thank you.
PS I use Nikon D5100.
Hello.
I have no experience with title ciphers; I can’t tell anything sensible. But, I know that there are native Soviet title shifts, like MC ARSAT 35 mm

I have helios 44m and ms helios 44k-4, the latter due to ms enlightenment has better contrast and holds side light not bad (unlike 44m) both lenses show very good sharpness and contrast with aperture 2.8,
- when fully open, noticeable spherical aberrations sometimes give an unexpectedly strong soft effect (almost like a monocle)
- by 2.5 the picture is more definite (and quite predictable) but the CAs are still noticeable and the sharpness is not quite sharp
- at 4-5.6, I just don't know where it is much sharper =)
in 44k-4, by the way, the six-petal diaphragm with noticeably rounded petals gives, in my opinion, more pleasant boshes than 44m, whose 8 petals converge unevenly to a value of 5.6 (and this is on very many specimens, not only mine) and gives in bokeh circular saws
I think it’s unfair to show pictures in the review at values of 2 and 2.5 because on more covered apertures we have a different lens and I think this is very cool, because such features expand creative possibilities not bad
as screwed to the d3100
By the way, I almost forgot that both of my helios give a color rendition noticeably nicer than the native whale 18-55 3.5-5.6 (which many will not surprisingly say) and than the not-so-cheap AF-s 35 G DX 1.8 (but this is strange)
I rent for Nikon D3100
guys how to put helioss44m-4 on infinity on canon 600d not where there is no video tutorial please help

For Canon, just use the M42-Canon EOS adapter
which one is better to advise on the Helios 44m-4
For APS-C or APS camera?
I converted Helioss 44-4 to Nikon D-90 on an adapter without a lens.
He turned out the lens block, pulled out the adjustment ring, sharpened it on a turning 1,5 mm, and then, when assembling the rear lens block, put a ring of copper wire under it - about 0,5 mm - so that the diaphragm ring would not jam.
The butt, which goes immediately after the thread, do not grind and in no case! Well, a maximum of 0,1-0,2 mm - otherwise the thread will fall off!
While not tested, clicked a couple of frames from the balcony to check the focus.
Focuses on infinity.
And how he draws, we'll check later ... :)
I have a Nikon d3100. I remade this lens to infinity, I like bokeh in it, the sharpness is not very open. and the bokeh is gorgeous, I personally really like it. there is also a Helios 77 1.8 bokeh similar, but 77 sharper, color rendering is better.
Hello! I see you here almost gnawed at the differential reviews about this lens. I myself have now put a cross on it because of the review. Here is the trick - the HELIOS-44K-4 lens caught on the Internet! exactly K !!! Who knows or heard about this modification ?? Announce here

In vain you put an end to it! I sold them 3, was also disappointed, and the 4th turned out to be good. Sharp open. And contrary to the opinion that the older the better, the 1987 model year (see government acceptance :))

Bayone K - under the Pentax.
I have this Helios. Question is it possible to see the aperture blades when you turn the aperture ring?
Yes it is.
If not visible, then broken? Can I fix it?
Yes, you can fix it.
How ?
I forgot to say I got it from Zenith, so I am collecting it on a DSLR.
Hand over for repair or disassemble by yourself.
Okay, thanks, I'll try to figure it out.))
In general, I would like to read specifically how to parse)).
I do not specialize in repairs.
I figured out the jumping diaphragm. This is on the Helios-44M and Helios-44M-4 so.))
Good afternoon !!! Help please !!! I really need a scheme for attaching a skipping rope to Helios44m-4 !!! I decided to clean it myself ((((((
Good afternoon.
On the Helios-44M-4, as it is rightly noted here, a jumping aperture, but not like on the Nikon. The pin should be recessed into the lens body, and not moved, as, for example, on the Helios-81N. The only problem is that when mounted on an M42-Nikon adapter (lens Kipon Betwix), the pin does not sink and the diaphragm stops working. I put in an O-ring from the Soviet set of macro rings - and the diaphragm ring began to change the diaphragm. Hope it helps someone.
And one more thing, apparently, this Helios has a replaceable shank with 4 screws. Is there nothing like KP-A / N for him? This would solve the problem of having to use a lens adapter.
The g-44-m4 has no interchangeable shank.
Oh, 4 screws confused me. Thank.
Arkady, good afternoon.
There is a question for you about helios-44m-4. Does his diaphragm when turning the ring closes smoothly, or with clicks? thank
Clicks.
I have Helios-44-2 2/58. The photos are excellent, but they say that I don’t have infinity, even with the adapter and the M42-Nikon lens. And when I put it on infinity, it reaches 10 and a little more, then the lower part rests against the adapter, I don’t know what it is called. I substitute a thin ring from the cardboard, between the adapter and the lens, then it does not rest against the adapter, but there is no infinity and no petals 8 or 6. Why is there no infinity?
There is no infinity, due to the structure of the lens, since the rear lens simply rests against the adapter and the lens cannot focus at infinity.
but I put a thin cardboard, now does not rest.
Cardboard increased the working length.
it’s clear, but how to remove it so that it doesn’t rest?
